1. They want to protect the French from continuing embarrassment;
2. This time, they want make it obvious that they intrinsically hate the Americans’ dominance in the Olympics. i.e., even in Sports they can’t beat US of A; or,
3. They want to sell the video to the highest bidder.
Given their lack of integrity as shown in the past, I think it’s about Theory No. 3.

NONETHELESS:

President Bush’s visit to the Olympics has paid off well. Now, it’s time for him to concentrate on a more pressing matter…. the Russian Aggression of Georgia, our true ally.

You can’t simultaneously have an event be a) just another corporate piece of entertainment and b) a congregation of national pride.

Description a) precludes sharing but b) requires sharing.

So I’ll look for national pride elsewhere, and ignore the Olympics because without the national pride angle, it’s just the work of NBC in conjuction with the corrupt, anti-American IOC, organized this year as a work of Red Chinese propaganda.
