A Little Prediction For You

UBL captured or killed in six weeks.

When I read about the airstrike in Pakistan that killed 18 (including “five foreign militants,” AKA “terrorists”, and I suppose 13 “others”), I thought oh no, something is wrong.  With Obama as our President no “others” are supposed to be killed in these episodes.  How could this happen?

Then I had another thought, which is that with the successful airstrikes over the past few months, we must be getting much better target-identifying intelligence in the region.  And how many of these targets can there be?  After yesterday’s successful mission, can the eliminaiton of Usama bin Laden be far behind?

Now I would be delighted to see Usama captured and another blow struck to al Qaida.  But wouldn’t that be a stick in the eye of Mr. Bush, and a huge coup for President Obama?  Wouldn’t it vindicate the softer, gentler action against terrorism that he has proposed?

Based on this line of reasoning, I will venture a prediction:  UBL will be eliminated or captured within six weeks.

Come up with your own predictions and consider this an open thread.

If it happens with in 6 weeks, clearly, GW Bush deserves the bulk of the credit.

But if Bin Laden is swinging from the end of a rope, I don’t care if who gets credit.

It will be a great day.

    • DRP

Frankly, I don’t care who gets the credit. If Monica Lewinsky and Lewis Farrakhan come riding into Kandahar with bin Laden hogtied in the back of their Prius, more power to them.

……unless Monica’s in the blue dress, that is. ;)

        Cheers !

        wow, what an image.
I’ll take “How long did the O keep UBL on ice” for $1000 Alex.

  • JustLeaveMeAlone

or better yet, killed, will it be found that the intelligence leading to his targeting came from Gitmo and those nasty torturers there?

And since we are now a nice and ethical nation again (try not to gag), should we capture Sheik-Been-Hiding, will we sit him in a nice comfy armchair, pour him a nice single malt, and ask him politely, if he isn’t too tired or anything, to have a chat with us?

Personally, I hope now that we are enlightened, ethical, and nice, that we just kill the M*F* outright and let Allah figure out what to do with his sorry a$$.

    • izoneguy

if “Bin Laden” was “killed”. They will do some foresenics and claim that they got him. But we will never have 100% verifible proof.
Obama will pull crap like this. Bush never would. This is the change Obama was talking about.

  • Marcus_Traianus

I would just talk superfluously and nonsensically about the weather just to participate. But I will add something material to the conversation.

Obama will never be able to claim his policies resulted in the killing or capture of Obama. It has been the long road and Bush policies that resulted in determined, unrelenting pursuit. Just ask the guys overseas how long this has been part of their objectives. I doubt the retort will be “since January 20th”.

Pre-election, Obama preached starting a war to pursue our goal of killing terrorists inside Pakistan. He then demurred and dissembled- big surprise.

Bush preached steady, measured engagement of Pakistan with increasing pressure inside the border post Musharraf. That opportunity only arose due to his departure and the turmoil ensuing after the Bhutto assassination. Something about slow and steady wins the race comes to mind.

Now we have the Commander in Clown suit claiming OBL sucking up an LGB as a victory? Hardly, we gets the prize for being the ACLU-Terrorist Advocate in Chief for his opening act GITMO insanity (I hope they move them into Chicago-BTW) and suspension of trials for WTC perp’s and other assorted killers. SUre- want to bet they have buttons that say Yes, We Can”?

Obama is claiming the results of the surge for Democrats who forced a change in strategy. I think you underestimate the degradations the media are willing to suffer at the whim of Obama in order to support the Marxist vision they believe he will carry out.

Obama will claim everything good that happens now for himself, and will blame every problem and setback on George Bush and/or Rush Limbaugh. No media weasel will call him on it, because he is special.

For some reason, I think Obama will be loyal to Holder. A President who worked as a lawyer wouldn’t take his attorney-general pick lightly.

If we are going for hope, I hope Obama is visited by the ghosts of Washington, Lincoln, and Reagan

        • Ed54

UBL has had 8 years to perfect his tradecraft and OPSEC. We’ve been hunting him with Preds for most of that time. If he hasn’t screwed up yet, odds are not likely that he is going to start.

He’s like a rodent in the ground. He’s not coming out unless we somehow radically change the environment to flush him out. That’s what it’s going to take: a big-picture change in the FATA like a decisive invasion by Pakistani troops or a large-scale guerilla warfare campaign waged from across the border. Short of that, UBL stays in his burrow and dies of natural causes. And figure the odds that Obama makes that happen where Bush failed.

          • Raven

            Can’t forget that possibility…

          • Achance

He’s been dead since Tora Bora. Wouldn’t be surprised if his head is in a jar in Crawford just so GWB can enjoy a good laugh at the stupid s@#t BHO and his weenies say about it.

and the Repubs in the Senate will have miraculously grown a pair – and start doing their jobs by successfully thwarting the Holder nomination.

news and commentary as is my habit. Yet there is nothing here for comfort, no small victories in sight, just desolation as far as the eye can see. Spent the afternoon playing with, and hugging, my 2 and 4 year old grandchildren. Then I come here and feel a boatload of guilt and despair for what they will inherit in the years to come.

We must fight, there is no other choice. And now we must find leaders who know what that word means. To me it means “by any means necessary, no quarter asked, no quarter given.” It occurs to me that those who have fought so hard for freedom over the past 7 ;years are the ones most likely to lead us in this fight. They did not fight for the freedom of those in other countries just so they could come home and find their own homeland in ruins. Besides, with Obama as their new CinC, I’m expecting retirement in record numbers. Much as we need their experience in the field, the field is now here.

It’s only been 2 days….holy cow, this could be funnerer than the primaries!

President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

          • DONTREADONME

You ever come across that looney toons gremlin slamming the block buster bomb with a mallet. That would be appropriate for the Obama’s invoking of Rush Limbaugh.

          • Mike gamecock DeVine

            I don’t recall the gremlin/Mallet

But Rush did refer yesterday to an Obama statement during the campaign that I have highlighted several times that he may use the “local content” reg to shush rush.

Q: How do you know what is the right thing to do?

A: Listen to what Obama says and do the opposite.

            Bipartisanship is surrender!

          • woodsman

My mom always said I did that naturally any way, so it takes no effort on my part to do the opposite of what The One wants!

If they listen to Rush and take his advice, Obama can’t get anything done.

    pushing up daisies.

The audio tapes we have been hearing the last couple of years are performed by the Arab version of Rich Kirby.

  • Dencal26

If Obama got BinLaden in 6 weeks you can pass me some Koolaid cause I will be an Obamacan.

  • CJB68

Obama will still be issuing executive orders that effectively make another 9/11 (or worse!) possible; Osama’s been pushing up daisies since ’02 (per Justin_Case) but his gang’s going to still be playing hide-n-seek in some caves at the Pakistan/Afghanistan border until our boys are called back home.

and, short of that, what COMPLETE CONSERVATIVES have begun campaigns to overthrow him for the ticket in the Primaries!?!? A single candidate must be rallied behind by then so as to NOT scatter votes but concentrate as many of them behind that single challenger to McCain.

Also, I hope you AZans are all writing McCain and asking him to RETIRE IMMEDIATELY!

  • mbecker908

    1. There are no Republicans with statewide name recognition other than Jon Kyl. I would bet that 2/3 of the state couldn’t name our Republican replacement for Janet.

    2. Thanks to the migration from California, AZ isn’t all that conservative.

    3. JD Hayworth’s name has been mentioned as a primary opponent. He’d get massacred. JD’s had his 15 minutes of fame and he’ll never get elected in AZ again. People generally don’t like him personally. The only real “conservatives” around, guys like Shadegg or Flake, wouldn’t get 25% of the vote in a primary. They aren’t really known outside their districts (which are significantly more conservative than the state as a whole) and they couldn’t keep up with McCain’s money raising ability. Plus, we’d probably lose another House seat.

    4. There is no democrat with statewide name recognition who will offer McCain any competition in 2010 unless Janet resigns and moves back to AZ (she’d have a reasonable longshot). Thus, McCain would be free to spend his megabuck campaign fund on a primary battle and nobody could match his money.

    5. There are exactly two media markets in AZ: Phoenix & Tucson. The newspapers in both markets would support McCain in the primary and the AZ Republic (Phoenix) would likely support him in the general while the Tucson Star would likely support any pseudo-Marxist.

John McCain will be a US Senator representing the DC Beltway for as long as he wants to be. Just like his kitten Lindsey Graham.

Seeing McCain get tossed would really make my day. I’ve lived in Phoenix since ’93 and I’ve never voted for McCain in a statewide election. I absolutely detest the SOB.

Reality is a hard handmaiden. No Pity
