That does it…McDonnell Can’t Be Allowed To Win Because (GASP), “HE’S A CLOSET CHRISTIAN!!!”

From Ben Smith at Politico: McDonnell, the Christian conservative

Virginia Democrats are highlighting this video of GOP gubernatorial nominee Bob McDonnell from a rally-the-base speech earlier today at Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University in Lynchburg.

McDonnell’s promise to be a champion for traditional marriage and anti-abortion stalwart comes on the morning following the final debate of the governor’s race Tuesday night — a debate where the Republican said that, if elected, his focus would be on issues such as jobs, transportation and energy.

Pressed about his opposition to abortion at the debate, McDonnell was far less expansive than in front of the evangelical students at Liberty.

And, it should be noted, the Republican’s cultural message today has been notably absent from his just-a-suburban-dad TV ads in the Washington, D.C. market.

So if you’re a Christian and dare to talk about your faith, about your values…or anything besides the economy…you’re unfit to hold office I suppose? What’s the Point here Ben…and where are the Dems taking this is what I’d like to know!

And what are we to take from this brilliant piece of journalism:

And, it should be noted, the Republican’s cultural message today has been notably absent from his just-a-suburban-dad TV ads in the Washington, D.C. market.

Maybe he’s too ashamed to mention his faith? or is it that he’s just Pandering to the EEEEVIL Christian Conservatives? Good thing he didn’t have a Cross behind him because we wouldn’t want him sending off any subliminal messages would we? Oh…I know…He’s a closet Christian who is really hell bent on creating “THEOCRACY” and forcing every American to subscribe to his brand of faith!

Burn Him!!!!

Smith throws it out there and draws no conclusion…I mean…what’s the point….maybe we’re supposed to draw a conclusion that speaking at Liberty University is bad…or being a Christian should disqualify one from holding office?

I’m not one that likes the victim industry in this country and I don’t want to play the victim here…but this is smarmy and disgusting and I find it offensive in the nth degree!

Anti Christian bigotry on full and naked display for all to see from Politico and the VA Democrats….

DISGUSTING!

It seems the libs are desparate, and now just trying to throw s*&t against the wall and see what sticks. Just from what I have seen here I would have probably voted for a pile of horse manure before voting for Deeds.

He seemed to be for the public option before he seemed to be against the public option.     h/t

What in the heck are you trying to say?

Near the end the reporter makes a geniune, non-partisan, request for clarification regarding Deed’s rambling.

such as McCain, who years ago said that Jerry Falwell was an agent of intolerance. McDonnell has a record of standing on social conservative principles, but, has not made it a major part of his campaign, and rightfully so. He honestly answers questions concerning his Christian principles, and, then moves on to the issues mostly on the minds of Virginanians, jobs, transportation and education. The Liberals have been trying for years to paint christianity as an evil. They must, as they believe they are in competition with God. If you believe strongly in morals and conscience, then you reject that the Government is where you should look to for your salvation, your food, your housing and every other human need. To them personal responsibility means looking in the right direction, which is to those that hold the all mighty pot of gold, the government. You are stupid to pray to a God that many Liberals want you to believe does not exist. It is the only road to Communism/Marxism. For Deeds, and the Liberals behind him, it should drive home the fact of just how far left he really is, hence his flip flopping.

Christians are under attack, and, according to a few articles at the American Spectator, the Liberals have not only engaged, but, have actually gained the support of those they have been against- Christian Churches, and, Christian Organizations. It appears that the Liberals have gained support by praying (figuratively) on those that are in support of immigration, legal and illegal. Those same so-called-Christians have abondoned their most basic beliefs in Life and traditional marriage, and have sold themselves to an anti-capitalist government which they believe has an obligation to provide “equally” for all living creatures. They have bought into the notion that it is all for “the common good.”

The Article and the Dems it talks about act as if simply pointing out the fact that McDonnel is a Christian should be self evident the he’s unfit to hold office!

I mean…what if he were a Jew and spoke at Beth El or some prominent Jewish college and this article had simply pointed out that McDonnell hadn’t talked about his Jewishness but now here he is talking to a bunch of Jews…wouldn’t people be outraged?

and here I am…posting this at Red State and can only get 5 comments on it…what does that say?

      • Scope

5 posts because the Redstaters don’t want to recognize the attack on Christianity, now even by some who call themselves evangelicals. Rather, I believe that there aren’t many Virginians who post here. I appreciate that you wrote this great diary, and, I appreciate that there are a good many front page diaries concerning the McDonnell/Deeds race. Even those front page stories don’t get many comments. Apparently, if you are not from Virginia or New Jersey, the most important Governors races, in a very long time, that can have a tremendous effect on the 2010 elections, and, the votes of the Blue Dogs as to Obamacare, it doesn’t garner much interest. I am not in a financial position to drop bucks into everyone’s campaign cup, I put my penies into my state’s races, such as McDonnell’s. When/if that financial position changes, like I win the lottery, or Obama creates jobs out of pixie dust, I will continue to donate to only my state’s candidates. For me, right now, the McDonnell race is in less than 2 weeks, and, it would be nice if there was more excitement and support for this nationally important race. Marco Rubio, a terrific candidate for sure, deserves donations, but, isn’t the McDonnell race a more immediate priority, if not financially, but, to show even a little excitement for what will most likely be a win by wide margins?

BTW Ace, I posted the 2 links above, concerning the attacks on Christianity, now by so-called Christians themselves, in hopes that you or someone who writes excellent diaries to bring this to the attention of those that want to preserve what is most sacred to so many of us. The infiltration by the Communists into our Christian Churches and Organizations seems to be flying under the radar.

and I agree …I’m just saying it worries me that there appear to be so few folks that have read a national story posted on a well trafficked site like Politico that has a problem with the obvious implications of the assumptions drawn by this story and the way it is written

which means he just wants ALL women knocked up and barefooted cooking in the kitchen…right? I mean that is how all you Christian men are and all us good wives do what our husbands want …..I mean we don’t think for ourselves right?

PATHETIC!!! and are WE just going to allow this kind of CRAP to stand? Are we men/women? or are we mice? I myself am not religious but a good many of my friends are and I am just so sick to death of the picture that is painted of those who practice what they preach. I find it sickening that a good person cannot run for elected office because they may be slaughtered by leftists who want anything to go unless that anything infringes on their ideals.

If WE don’t find a way to SHUT DOWN these disgusting LOSERS in our society who are attempting to take God out of the public square our country will have more problems then a malcontent such as Obama! or Deeds or the LEFTIST media!
