Cornyn Re-Elected To NRSC Chair AGAIN!! By A Unanimous Vote No Less!!

Well DUH!!!

From The Weekly Standard:

Cornyn Unanimously Reelected NRSC Chairman

Here is what he had to say:

“I appreciate the strong support from all of my Republican colleagues, and especially our 13 new Republican Senators, as we continue our campaign to win back a Senate Republican majority in 2012. Continuity at the NRSC is something we haven’t had in a while, and which we need to build on our victories in 2010. [...]

“The key now is to build on that success, while applying lessons learned from the 2010 campaign. I believe Republicans are strongest when we stick together, and I continue to adhere to the words of William F. Buckley, who famously said: ‘I am for the most conservative candidate that can get elected.’ But I recognize that Republican primary voters choose our nominees, and I am committed to listening to the message voters sent this past year.

I’m not sure what I’m supposed to take away from that?

If he means the NRSC is going to stay out of contested primaries this time out…then good for them…

What of Rob Jesmer? I guess we’ll have to wait and see on that…

And what about the bang up Job the NRSC did raising money this year….spending millions on a lost cause in CA and the mess they made of GOTV efforts in NV, DE and CT?

If he means, As I suspect he does), the NRSC is still going to be picking winners and losers again…then I have a little treat for the “Stupid Party” and all the Senators who UNANIMOUSLY voted to return Senator Train Wreck to the chairmanship at NRSC.

REALLY?

UNANIMOUSLY?

HEH!

I hope you and your fellow Texans can “primary” Cornyn in 2014. Failure shouldn’t be rewarded.

They still have no clue how far in left field they are.

I wouldn?t be surprised if Cornyn hires Charlie Crist as his main NRSC staffer.

    Unbelievable

Well…the best NRSC Chief EVER was outraised by $15 million by the DSCC in the bigest republican wave election in the last 70 years!

    What a crock!

to run against Feinstein in 2012 . . . seeing as how Carly worked out so well. 1/10 of what you dropped on California Carly would have put Buck over the top in CO.

Here’s a pathetic sample of Cornyn’s political savvy:

And we wonder how Cornyn went for Charlie Orange.

But Texans are catching on to Cornyn:

outta Cornyn playing cowboy. All hat and not much else.

I’d be embarrassed if someone cut an ad like on my behalf and I’d fire whoever came up with it.

…And would have preferred somebody else, I’m willing to give Cornyn the benefit of the doubt for now to see if he actually *did* “get the message” to not interfere (note: “interfere” is not the same thing as “recruit”, the latter of which is definitely in Cornyn’s job description…) in Primaries anymore.

It’s “wait and see” time here…

    • AceInTX

and let voters decide in contested primaries.

      Benefit of the doubt though?

After he dumped millions down the shoot in CA and let Angle and Buck twist in the wind?

      • IJB

The fact is Fiorina was the best candidate we’ve had in CA in about 20 years. And if we were going to win CA, this was the year.

It was *worth* it to test the waters to see if CA was even remotely winnable.

Having done what we did in 2010, we now have our answer – and the national party never has to spend another dime on CA again. But we didn’t know that with certainty going in. It was *worth* finding that out.

I really don’t think what happened in CA “cost” us either CO or NV – I think Buck literally lost CO all by himself; and I have no idea what happened in NV – the final results in NV are so at variance with the final polling (and even the early voting) that the only thing I can conclude is that the NV “loss” was the result of systematic and *massive* voter fraud. (I literally think no other explanation makes sense for what happened in NV…)

So, no – I’m not going to hold any of that against Cornyn. (Now what happened in FL I absolutely *do* blame Cornyn for…)

The final PPP poll showed Angle +1. It showed a 41D/40R/19I electorate. A 69/20 White/Hispanic electorate. It showed a 17/42 Liberal Conservative Electorate. They found Sharron Angle leading Independents by 14 points. They tested Obama’s approval at -15.

I know it maybe very hard to believe but the final electorate was Democrats +4. The final electorate was 20/40 Liberal to Conservative. Sharron Angle won Independents by two. The exit polls found his approval at -5. Unless a bunch of people lied in the exit polls …

and this isn’t the first time the party has thrown money down the black holes of out of reach blue states…McClame did it in PA in 1008 and Bush did it in CA in 2004.

Buck, Angle, Rossi, McMahon and a few mothers underperformed their polling and could have used the funds thrown down the rat hole for Meg Whitman and Fiorina…

CA was never competitive and there was no reason to believe it ever would be…but that didn’t stop Cornyn from wasting resources that could have been used in competitive races where it could have made a difference.

          • IJB

There is *zero* evidence that the “extra” money spent in CA would have turned *any* of those other races around:

            - Buck killed himself in CO (along with the disastrous GOV’s race not helping); I doubt anything we could have done there would have pulled that one out (certainly not in “purple” CO…).

            - Again, I don’t buy the NV results, so that wasn’t a money problem.

            - McMahon didn’t have a money problem – she had plenty; and CT is one of the most Democrat state there is: that was always a long-shot for our side.

The only place where more funds might, *might* have made a difference was WA – and I’m still somewhat dubious that a Republican can win statewide in WA.

But WA is the only race you name where extra NRSC *might* have helped…

and I am no fan of Sen. Cornyn. But being one of the new kids on the block, I would be careful in picking my battles. Fighting over head of the NRSC wouldn’t be at the top of my list. I would bet that these guys, once they have a little more time under their belt as U.S. Senators, will increase their stature and have a lot more influence when the NRSC starts its work for the next election.

Right now the Dems have all kinds of internal bickering going on over all kinds of issues. Not making a battle of NRSC head, in my opinion, is a wise move. I think we ought to sit back with big, fat smiles on our faces while the Dems fight among themselves.
