***UPDATE***Et Tu Demint?***Did I Miss Something? When Did We Pass A Budget?

So…Every Republican has signed a pledge that they will filibuster any measure brought to the Senate Floor until the tax increase is stopped and we pass a Budget…

Yet today…according to The Weekly Standard, “Senate Votes 66 to 32 to Take Up START Treaty Over GOP Objections

66 Senators voted to take up the START Treaty tomorrow…

So…There are 100 Senators… 42 of which are currently Republican right? Which leaves 56 Democrats and 2 independents who caucus with the Democrats…

Unless those numbers are wrong…that means 8 Republicans have just voted to allow the START Treaty to be brought to the Senate Floor for Debate.

Call me stupid….but did I miss the budget vote?

I mean…if all 42 Republican Senators promised not to allow anything to be brought to the floor for a vote until Harry Ried passes a budget bill then we must have a budget passed out of the Senate…right?

But of course…we all know there hasn’t been a budget passed out of the Senate don’t we?

Because Mitch McConnell is raising all kinds of hell about what a travesty this budget bill is. As I write this, John McCain is on Hannity talking about how tone deaf the Democrats are for bringing this budget to the floor.

Yet we have 8 Republican Senators VOTING to allow debate on START to begin TOMORROW?!

I guess these 8 weasels have decided to DEEM this budget as passed and have moved on to the next item on the Obama Reid agenda and all the noise being made by Republicans about how awful this budget is just is so much hot air and has all the potency of a fart in a category five wind storm!

All the talk of reading the bill…and anything else is just bluster and blow….We can expect NOTHING on this except racket and noise…in the end…Harry and San Fran Nan will have just what they wanted…and the next Congress will be left to clean up the steaming pile of dung left behind.

I mean COME ON you WORTHLESS EGG SUCKING CURS….is there NOTHING that will shame you cretinous vermin? It’s bad enough we had Christmas ruined last year by Obamacare on Christmas Eve by Harry Ried…THIS YEAR we can’t enjoy our families without looking over our shoulder looking for the next shiv to take us in the back by Harry Ried and to add insult to injury we get 8 Republicans twisting it after it has sunk home!

So what’s under your Christmas tree this year conservatives courtesy of either Mitch McConnell or 8 turn coats?

1) A return of the death tax

2) A guarantee of a Christmas Vote on extending Tax Cuts in two years

3) A START Treaty where we give away who knows what to Russia

4) Repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell

5) A pork laden, earmark Infested 1.1 trillion dollar budget that has just passed though it’s never been voted on

6) The Dream Act

I Wonder…has Mitch McConnell…the Master Strategist ever watched a football game? Has this worthless sack of stinking excrement ever heard of running out the clock?

The cavalry is coming Mitch…The two minute warning has sounded…every minute you drag this out…the less damage the Dems can do….is this REALLY so hard to figure out?

And Who are these 8 swine?

I’m too lazy and disgusted to look it up right now but I could make a good guess….but what’s the point?

What did we just do in November?

Did it matter?

I’m so sick of this I could just PUKE!

***UPDATE***

Turns out there a 9 Rs as has been pointed out in the thread…Thanks Pilgrim…and here they are…

Robert F. Bennett
George V. Voinovich
Scott Brown
Susan Collins
Lindsey Graham
Richard G. Lugar
John McCain
Lisa Murkowski
Olympia J. Snowe

Boy it was SUCH a blessing electing Scott Brown wasn’t it?

And note the man of Honor and integrity on down…I won’t say his name…you all know who I’m talking about!

Again from Pilgrim…Bayh didn’t vote! Hurray for the Democrat!

It’s time for the caucus to take note and start stripping chairmanships from these 9!

***UPDATE***

As Reported by National Journal Via Drudge; “DeMint, Senator Drops Bid to Delay Action on New START” Senator Demint is set to join 9 other REPUBLICAN SENATORS in helping Harry Ried pass the Obama/Ried/Pelosi agenda during this lame duck congress.

“But Ace…Demint didn’t vote to bring START to the floor!”

Well…yeah…that’s technically true…but in agreeing to back off his PROMISE to slow this down..Demint might as well have voted with the nine. On top of that…in standing by and letting this come to the floor today when he could obstruct and slow it down…he’s just as guilty as the nine of breaking his pledge to not allow votes on any legislation until we’ve dealt with the pending tax increases and the budget.

I take no joy in saying this….because Jim Demint has been a beacon of hope in these dark two years of the Obama regime….He’s my Hero….I’m so skeptical and jaded to the point where I don’t have heroes….but rest assured…he is betraying us today as much as any of the nine listed above if he doesn’t make a stand on this.

By the way…Reports are that the pile of turds called a budget dropped on the floor yesterday is to be voted on this weekend.

You can slow this down Senator…and give us time to help build opposition to these travesties….do nothing and you join the RINOs in giving us the finger….

PLEASE…PLEASE…PLEASE….FIGHT!!!

panel on Bret Baier it was said that the billion dollars for Obamacare that is in this Trillion dollar monstrosity will (excuse me, I am gonna yell) KEEP US FROM DEFUNDING OBAMACARE IN THE NEXT SESSION!!

Notice it’s always the same handful of a-holes that gets us to this point.

I am FED to the teeth with having to watch my back for RINOs.

The dem-bstrds NEVER have to worry about their people screwing them – we ALWAYS have to.

      THIS. MUST. STOP.

I know it’s too late for Juan McCain and Murkowski. McCain lucked out because there was a crap candidate running against him; McCain finally showed his teeth – couldn’t do that to Obama – and won. Murkowski – I don’t know why she won. Doesn’t matter. We must, and I mean NOW, this very moment, begin targeting (politically, big sis) these RINOs for extinction (political). We have to (1) find candidates, (2) get the word out about them and (3) raise money for them. If we wait, we’ll stuck with crapsters in the primaries, and we’ll be burdened with these low-lives for another 6 years.

Case in point: Olympia Frickin Snowe. If I didn’t see that woman’s ugly face or hear her name again in my life, it’d be too soon. LePage has already screwed up by endorsing her for 2012. They say that polls indicate that she’d lose toa more conservative candidate. But there is no one currently up with the name recognition or money, from what I’ve been told. We must work on this.

      Throw out Snowe in 2012!

  • AceInTX

What happened to passing nothing till the budget is passed McCain you lying piece of crap!

Your hero status from Vietnam means nothing now you vile and despicable worm….you have just assumed worm status…actually…I put you in the slug category!

The fact that you’re still a sitting Senator after the crap you’ve saddled us with is a disgrace!

Lou Whiticker was a second baseman with
the Detroit Tigers in the 70′s & 80′s.
He was teamed up with short stop Allen Trammel.
      Both allstars, a good tandem.

      One problem with Whiticker though.
He only played his very best when it was contract time.
The rest of the time he was an above average player, to be sure,
but contract time, it was super star.
      simply amazing.

Last year was contract time for McLooser.
      He played his superstar game.
Didn’t miss a conservative ball that got hit to him,
and made perfect throws to first, with few errors.

      Contract has been sighned.
      Back to average, if that.

if I were a Senator and thinking moving to require its reading, I wouldn’t be announcing it right now. I’d wait until Harry Reid moved it to the floor and then stand and make my motion. And I’d make d*** sure I did the same thing with the 2000 page budget bill.

  • nessa

We’ve left one bumbling, inept, incompetent out! The most important one! Our disloyal, lying, backstabbing GOP Senators have a leader. Leaders have responsibilities, from my experience the responsibilities far out-weigh any perks that may accompany the position, I can only imagine the Senate Minority Leader is the same, in design if not practice. The definition of responsibility I am familiar with was provided by AR (Army Regulation) 600-20, Chapter 2, paragraph 2-1, section b.

    b. Commanders are responsible for everything their command does or fails to do. However, commanders subdivide
responsibility and authority and assign portions of both to various subordinate commanders and staff members. In this
way, a proper degree of responsibility becomes inherent in each command echelon. Commanders delegate sufficient
authority to Soldiers in the chain of command to accomplish their assigned duties, and commanders may hold these
Soldiers responsible for their actions. Commanders who assign responsibility and authority to their subordinates still
retain the overall responsibility for the actions of their commands.

Each Leader in the Army steps up and takes his, or her piece of that Commanders Responsibility. “Everything your Soldiers do, or fail to do.” Easy to remember, damned painful execute. But there are 21 year old Staff Sergeants responsible for 9 Soldiers 24 hours a day, seven days a week on battlefields in the shi**iest terrain on earth who do it successfully every day for 15 consecutive months. And keep doing it when they re-deploy and face a whole different set of challenges. Tell me which you think is harder…

    a) Keeping one mavericky Senator under control and walking the straight and narrow.

    or

    b) Keeping 9 20 something Soldiers from driving home from the bar when it closes after they have celebrated their successful return from the aforementioned shi**y battlefield.

Minority Lleader McConnell, you have failed. Again. Each of your failures has been worse than the last. It is blatantly obvious that your subordinates hold you in utter contempt. Can you name a single time during your tenure as Minority Lleader that you were able to accomplish a mission? Did you ever successfully fillibuster a bill? Or a judicial nominee? Did you ever successfully execute a promise to the American People? Have you ever instilled a thimble-full of discipline in the GOP Senators? Have you ever even slowed the assault of the socialist agenda? When we used to have two out of control Senators, cavorting about willy-nilly voting for every piece of socialist tripe that came down the sewer we now have 9 misfits, malcontents and ne’er-do-wells stumbling over each other to be the MVP for the other f*&$^@% Team! You are not even capable of making Lindsay stop wearing dresses!

It has become painfully obvious Minority Lleader McConnell, that your subordinates follow you mainly out of a sense of curiosity. I am convinced that you could best serve the Senate as a food source. You couldn’t lead a fat kid to McDonalds and are every bit as useful as a parachute that opens on impact. Its time to pack your crap and do the duffle bag drag. The walk of shame. You don’t have to go home but you damn sure GOT TO GO!

And send in DeMint when you take your sorry @$$ out. Time for some “New Meat in the Hot Seat.”

It’s on the pathetically weak leadership of McConnell.

    • wennejunk

      1. Their inner RINO cries out for liberal causes and makes it difficult to properly support conservative actions or take a hard-lined, principled position. They are conflicted between doing what the American people want and what their inner desires demand.

      2. Attitude. They begin from the perspective that they cannot win these fights, only lose. Therefore their strategy and tactics are focused towards losing less badly. In this twisted world, then, anything less than 100% loss is deemed a victory.

  • fpete13527

The forced reading of DREAM could have at least help stopped the SCUM that is happening now with DREAM, START, PORKNIBUS, FOOD POLICE, AND DADT.

But no. #$%^&* MCConnell says we must move forward with the destruction of the country for the sake of squishiness, moderacy, pork, pragmatism, and socilialism.

It’s OK Mitchy, your forwarding of those above listed country killers bills will earn you a further name in the history books as the true RINO squish behind the RINO’s who RINOd the country into Socialism. Be proud Mitchy.

to accept that nominating ‘gentlemen’ and people who are ‘civil’ is getting us killed.

go back and read the history of the old west. A lot of the men who cleaned it up were gruff, mean, drunk and tough as nails. Preferably minus the drunk, thats EXACTLY the kind of candidates we need to find. Of course, Sam Houston liked his drink, and he’s A-1 in my book. (I am not implying that he was a drunkard).

People who will get in the ditch with the democrats.

People who, once they’ve put their opponents on the ground, kick the lights out of ‘em.

People who put country above cocktail parties, media favor and career.

We must find them, we must hire them, and we must provide logistical and moral support.

  • mikerazar

it takes 67 votes to ratify a treaty. Are there two or three more RINOS waiting in the wings to sell us out? Now might be a good time to be praising the 36 who voted no.

At this point it’s impossible for me to ever get mad at DeMint. Dude does so much of the heavy lifting and gets close to zero support. The few rare instances when I disagree with him, I assume he has a good reason that I just can’t put my finger on. It’s like when Cornyn won unanimous reelection for NRSC Chair. I thought to myself how could that have happened. Then I realized the few dissenters would’ve been voting against without a legitimate alternative. Sometimes in the long run a seemingly unfortunate decision can be the lesser of two evils or optimal.

That being said, damnit Coburn, make them read that freaking bill!

This is twice now that DeMint has promised to force a reading of a bill, only to back down for no really good reason. Apparently, even DeMint rates ‘comity’ above other factors.

The conclusion I draw from this episode is that we don’t even have one really reliable conservative in the Senate.

But, then again, I hate the Senate as an institution, so this doesn’t surprise me…

DeMint is playing chess and you are commentating as if it were checkers.

Now, you wan’t to talk about twisting language, how does one join a group and not take on the name of that group? And this doesn’t even take into account the fact that your original ultimatum was a completely false choice.

You know I like you Ace, but you are wrong on this and you went too far in your criticism of DeMint.

Second…and this goes to chess vs checkers to use your analogy…what is the only thing that could be better that using up 19 hrs forcing the reading of the 1900 page omnibus budget package?

Maybe taking up those 19 hours reading said budget package AND taking up the required time to read the entire Start Treaty on top of it…

Espescially since you said that’s what you were going to do in the first place?

          • Aaron Gardner

Omnibus alone will take 50 hours to read, not 19.

DeMint is going for a two for one. I don’t get your complaint.

          • AceInTX

they have to have the budget or a CR passed by Saturday…allowing START come to the floor gives Ried the opportunity to either drop the budget bill and vote on START now!

It also advances the ball and allows it to be voted on that much earlier leaving more time for Ried to bring up DADT or the Dream Act.

I’m thinking two or three bills down the road…

so…if they have to read both the Budget bill…which you say will take 50 hours…AND START….which adds 20, 30, 40, 50 more hours to the mix….at ten hours a day…Ried will be tied down on these two bills for the next two weeks freezing out any opportunity to vote on the other disasters Harry had in store for us

my biggest beef however…is saying you are going to do something…and then not doing it…or caving without a fight

          • Aaron Gardner

Also, no, we don’t need a budget passed at all, not in this session. I have no fear of a gov’t shutdown.

          • AceInTX

            or the Government shuts down.

Looks like Harry will be doing to CR since reports are he’s pulling the budget…

How does that effect START and this discussion?

I haven’t had time to research it…but my thinking is…they do a CR today….then bring up START since the aforementioned Republicans have greased the skids for Harry…(setting aside how Demint in that part of it). they’ll limit floor debate on start and move to a quick vote since we’re not forcing them to read it now giving Ried a week and a half to ram through DADT which the House has already passed and the Dream act which some of our squishes have expressed support for…

I don’t think Harry ever intended that budget to go through…he set it out there to piss us off and distract us while he lined up all the other legislation…now he’s going to give us whiplash as he takes us from gearing up for a long and protracted Budget fight now pivoting to passing a simple CR, START, DADT, and the Dream act in rapid succession before we can get out feet again…

I’d say I’m taking the changing situation on the ground into account and when this all comes out…what I’ve laid out here will be close to what happens.

I pray I’m wrong on this…but if my time line holds…the Dems will be walking away from this lame duck session having lost on the budget fight…won in my opinion on the tax cuts since they weren’t made permanent, won on unemployment benefits since they were extended without paying for them, Won on Start because it will pass with the help of 9 Republicrats, won on DADT, and won on the Dream act

Now there’s something to stand up and cheer about

          • Aaron Gardner

And McCain, for all his faults, is usually pretty trustworthy on defense, including missile defense. Granted, that doesn’t make START perfect, but it does act as a poison pill amendment which may cause it to fail.

DADT is a done deal. I hate that but that is the political reality. I would be shocked if this got stopped.

That takes us through Saturday, after which the Dems lose 1 in the Senate due to Ron Wyden leaving for surgery. He won’t be back until Jan. All of this gives us more time and increases our options.

Again, tactics are fluid and we have to allow our leaders the room to maneuver to get the job done. I think DeMint is doing pretty damn well.

            ;)

          • wonkish1

It’s looking like DREAM most likely dead
            Start likely dead
            and DADT likely to pass.

          • AceInTX

but again…he could make them read START and delay a vote on DADT and the other trash coming down the pike…

I’m not into declaring a fight lost till we’ve had it…and I ahven’t seen a fight yet…I see a lot of threats going back and forth…and legislation brought forward and then withdrawn…but I haven’t seen a fight yet…

This lame duck session is illegitimate and NOTHING should be allowed to pas…let alone 89% of the Dems wish list which is where we’re headed

          • AceInTX

but we’re continuing to try to nail Jello to the wall trying to out maneuver Harry Ried…and he keeps sliding out from under us, passing his wish list in the current form of battle….

We’ve let him set the table…we’ve let him set the terms of the debate…we’ve done everything to be polite and “Senatorial”…and we’ve got our aXXes handed to us!

DADT is going to cripple military recruitment and destroy our military…and I’ll be damXXed if I’ll accept it’s a done deal till everything’s been done to kill it…and as I see it…there are to many guns left in their holsters and too many punches left unthrown!

          • Aaron Gardner

I don’t like it anymore than you, but I will be happy if START and DREAM fail and DADT gets repealed. Two out of three ain’t bad and add in the extension of the tax rates, payroll tax holiday, budget being controlled by the new congress by default, and I would hardly qualify that as having our asses handed to us.

          • wonkish1

            n/t

          • AceInTX

and we’re not running pout the clock. We’re allowing bills to be brought to the floor, we’re letting legislation be voted on without reading the bills…we’re not forcing cloture votes to be made, we’re not objecting to unanimous consent requests…I haven’t seen on Republican on the air raising hell about the illigitimacyu of this being done AFTER the American People have spoken!

It was said before this Lame Duck congress started that the Dems had planned to pass a years worth of legislation in this session and it wouldn’t happen

            {shrugging shoulders in exasperation}

Looks like all the scoffers were wrong leading up to this lame duck session weren’t they…because they’ve gotten their votes on the hole blessed agenda with the exception of the Budget…and I contend it was never Ried’s intention to have a vote on this budget to begin with…

and what’s so frustrating to me is…this sin’t new…they ran from the same playbook on Boama Care last year at this time…The Republicans blustered and blew about filibuster this…and read thr bill that…and in the end…Here we ware…Same tactics form the Dems…Same bluster and blow from the Repubs…Same #$%ING Result!

But what do I know…I’m playing Checkers while Republicans starting with Mitch McConnell and including Demint are pleaying Chess!

          • AceInTX

As for the budget deal…Taxes go up in two years, Unemployment benefits run out again just before Christmas ensuring Republicans will be forced to extend them again without paying for them or be roasted by all as heartless morons for ruining Christmas for millions of less fortunate among us blah blah blah….the payroll tax will have to be extended at the same time putting Social Security further in the hole…the death tax makes a comeback and we’ll waste half of next year or longer unsuccessfully trying to undo everything Harry Ried has done in 2 or three weeks…

See…I’m looking down the road too…and I see the table being set and the field of battle almost already prepared for the next two years to favor Harry and Berry while our guys are high fiving and slapping each other on the back for stopping a Budget Herry Ried never intended to vote on in the first place and TEMORARILY avoiding a tax increase and raising taxes on dead people!

          • AceInTX
          • wonkish1

Want to bet that unemployment insurance doesn’t get extended next January? And the how much do you want to bet that the tax cuts will get extended again before they expire in 2012?

          • AceInTX

maybe they’ll extend the tax cuts permanently…but I’m betting the master strategist is figuting this will be a winning issue for them in twelve…so no…I don’t think they’ll extend the tax cut…and no I don’t think they’ll do what should have been done in 2004 when we had a near super majority in the Senate…which is…make the Bush tax cuts permanent…AND…cut taxes further to expand economic growth…

If they couldn’t…or wouldn’t do it then…why would I believe they’ll do it now?

GOD knows I wish I weren’t that cynical…but forgive me if I ask them to show me before I start rolling out the ticker tape parade

          • wonkish1

First, I have confidence in the American people. I do believe they can get bamboozled to vote for a warshack candidate, but when it comes to individual bills and individual issues they tend to be overwhelmingly conservative.

And I’m hard pressed to see how exactly Obama and the Dems could sell an extension of unemployment insurance or convince the American people that tax increases are a good thing. Every single Democrat politician of the last 50 years that has said they would raise taxes in the middle of a campaign has lost(don’t forget Obama told the American people they would receive a net tax cut that he never gave them). Mondale said he would raise taxes at the Dem convention in 84 and the GOP truth squad closed up shop saying, “Hey don’t try to kill someone that already plans to commit suicide.” Mondale took only 1 state his home state of Minnesota only because Reagan found in ungentlemanly to beat him in his own state and chose not to campaign there.

What is Obama going to say when his own supporters ask him why if he now wants to raise taxes(in 2012) didn’t he do it now? What is he going to say, I was wrong and now I see the light? Yeah right, he’ll just renew them again the best he can without ticking off his base.

In regards to the extension of the Unemployment Insurance, the GOP in the house wont pass that unless they feel they are getting something at least 10 times more valuable. Also on top of that, how is Obama and the Dems going to answer this? “I don’t really think the American people appreciate folks living off there tax dollars for 3 years without working 1 single day.” I would just love to see the response to that, it would be hilarious.

Ultimately, I just find that I hear the very pessimistic predictions because the level of cynicism amongst many(no offense) is so high that you don’t even want to look at potential good news objectively anymore you just chose to assume the worst.

And in this case, if I wanted to I could probably win a lot of bets based on the amount of cynicism and pessimism out there right now.

          • AceInTX

We’re talking about a bunch of craven, self serving Senators…

The point is…we will have this fight again in two years cecause of two reasons…Republicans had majorities for 6 of the last ten years to make these tax curts permanent…did they?

and your comment on continuing unemployment benefits is simply incoherent…

If you believe these weenies won’t vote to extend unemployment benefits this time next year lest they be accused of being called heartless for throwing dads all across the country off the rolls during the holiday season south San Antonio is just full of swamp land I’d like to sell you.

I’m glad you have faith in these guys…and I hope you’re right…but I’ve been at this since 1994…and I’ve seen these Wle E. Coyotes fall into the same dem traps over and over again…and I’m just a little too conditioned to expect them to do it again I guess.

Their behavior this lame duck session has done nothing to inspire any confidence in me at all.

          • wonkish1

            Take the bet!

            A) We are talking about the American people when its in the middle of an election season. The Dem senators will vote to extend the tax cuts because of elections. And Obama will sign them because it is an election. The American people matter a little more to Democrats when it comes to election time. So, we are more likely to get better deals during an election cycle than now.

            B) Unemployment Insurance: Its called the Republican house which is the most conservative its ever been in 85 years. Also there are competing arguments that will be leveled at that time:
            1) Republicans want cutoff the unemployment checks to the poorest individuals in the country
            2) Democrats want you the tax payer to pay for folks not to work for more than 3 years. I don’t think the American people are okay with folks not finding a job for longer than 3 years.

And the Republican’s likely slogan in 2012(which is perfect) is that the Dems are the party of Foodstamps and the Republicans are the party of Paychecks. So everybody choose. If you want to vote for foodstamps vote Dem and if you want to vote for Paychecks vote GOP.

You’re telling me that the Dems are going to win this battle on some sob story about how folks that haven’t found a job for 3 years deserve more time? Man you really don’t think to highly of the American people.

          • Aaron Gardner

The facts are, we stopped and are in the process of stopping, a lot of bad stuff from a minority position that contains people who are openly hostile to the will of the new Republican party that will be taking over the House next session.

I am sorry that Snowe didn’t miraculously change, I am sorry Collins didn’t wake up as Reagan, I am sorry that Brown is weak on issues important to the base outside of MA, I am sorry that we mere mortals are constrained by the reality that surrounds us.

Now, did any of that garbage make you feel better?

          • AceInTX

Especially since I keep saying it over and over

If they did everything they could and we had still ended up here…then I’d be happy and cheering…but they didn’t do everything they could do…

and please save the snide comments about suckers…you apparently think it makes you look smart but it doesn’t impress me…

This isn’t about Snowe…or Collins…they’re a lost cause….I’ll gripe all day about them but I know they’ll always cut the legs out from under us…they’re scorpians…and that’s what scorpions do…you started this thread talking about Demint…not Snowe Collins and Brown…(as fort Brown…can anyone point me to a vote on policy he’s cast that Teddy Kennedy wouldn’t have made?)…I’m happy to talk about them with you…but moving the goal posts doesn’t work with me either…

I Want Demint to do what he said he’d do…I want McConnell to fight….I want them to pull out every stop and fire every bullet in every gun they have in every gun…because that’s what the Democrats do…they always look for the next play…their eye is always on how they will advance the ball next…they use the same sucker plays over and over again…and our guys fall for it every time…

The The Republicans in the Senate needs to take the elephant off everything they use and replace it with Wile E Coyote because every time they think they have the road runner beat…WHAM…there’s the train plowing them into a wall again.

I was worried about ya after the icky taste your posts left in your mouth the other day. I see now you’re over it and back to your usual self.

What to do with the Senate GOP… I’ve been a Vikings fan all my life, watched them lose their first Superbowl in’73 and every Superbowl and playoff loss since. You would think I would grow inured to disappointment. Maybe to the Vikings I have but the Senate still makes me feel like I’m 10 years old watching my heroes shuffle off to the locker room while the Fish carry the trophy off the field.

I read on National Review Online the Corner that the reason DeMint withdrew his request was because Reid agreed to move back the vote. DeMint’s stance did get the time pushed back, which I think was all he really wanted.

On the Omnibus bill, that should be read out loud.

You don’t pass a treaty to find out what is in it later….

The treaty must be read. If it is so important it can wait until the 112th gets seated.
