MEMBER DIARY

Something else that might be fun (h/t Doc Holliday)

Not to steal Doc’s thunder, but imitation being the highest form of flattery, etc I just had to point out a quiz that, IMO, is a bit better defined than the Political Compass test. I present to you all (drumroll please!) the Nolan Test! This test was invented by Christopher Nolan sometime in the 70s as a way to see where people stood on the various issues, and should be quite revealing, as well as fun.

Here’s the link to Doc’s diary, so that you can go comment on it: http://www.redstate.com/doc_holliday/2011/02/12/this-might-not-be-a-diary-per-se-but-i-think-it-could-clear-up-a-few-things-and-actually-be-fun/

heck I only write a diary a year at best :) I still think political compass is better, it makes me seem almost normal lol.

Here are my results for your test, I am located in the libertarian zone, on the upper right border.

And I make no apologies: if Martin Luther King, Jr rose to plagiarism, how could I do any less? Just kidding: I tried to make the references to your idea blatant in my mini-diary so that it would be clear that I was just glomming onto your idea.

Looks like you ended up right in my little quadrant: that doesn’t really surprise me.

of course I was just joking that is why I reccoed the diary.

I came up as a libertarian. Perhaps it’s a mistake for me to reveal that information here. But there it is. I really read Redstate to learn more than anything else, so hopefully it won’t cause any trouble.

I’m not sure, but I think the term libertarian here refers to the original meaning which actually described most of the founding fathers, (I hope ;-)

though that little star was awfully close to the Conservative quarter of that pie chart….which is probably about right.

  • aesthete

was a bit too focused on domestic politics (I was definitely libertarian, but leaning towards conservative), but it is, IMO, a bit better in that it allows you to assent to a line of thought, rather than an agree/disagree dichotomy and having to deal with odd phrasings.

    and libertarian here

There were no lefty loon questions about internationalist corporations and such here

heh, I am protecting my quiz I guess. But this one is good for people that want explanations of their results, or at least assumptions

    http://typology.people-press.org/typology/

I was listed as an “Enterpriser”, the quiz says only 9 percent of people fall into this category.

There really wasn’t a conservative choice.

In any case, I came out conservative.

    2004 Election
Bush 92%, Kerry 1%. Bush?s most reliable supporters (just 4% of Enterprisers did not vote)

    We vote. We vote Republican.

I didn’t agree entirely with the description. I’m strongly religious, and I believe the gov’t does have some role in assisting the poor (yeah, so sue me).

leaning towards conservative. I would have liked to see more of a middle of the road option with foreign policy and trade/money, though. But no quiz is perfect.
