I have always liked Duke basketball and Coach K is a legend. The rivalry between Duke and NC is just awesome to watch. Two legendary programs playing in the same conference you have to love.

BTW, I have heard the the Duke campus is one of the most beautiful in the country.

Even though I actually attended OU for my post-graduate work . You cannot changed the way you were raised, and I was raised right.

Seriously though, I have respect for OU’s coaches, players, and program. But their fans are, shall we say, difficult to tolerate. They are just very different from OSU fans, very different.

We are the type who will root against you during the game, and then invite you to tailgate both before and after the game.

I’m sure North Dakota would be great for those who don’t mind living in a deep freeze most of the year.

It’s bad enough in Texas as I don’t function well below the mid-70′s range.

makes kabobs with cherry tomatoes (from his garden), mozzarella cubes, and smoked sausage. He wraps the cherry tomatoes with basil leaves (also from his garden) before he grills them. Absolutely delicious.

Just never really had a place to grow anything in the burbs until we moved last year. Our place now, even though we’re still in the burbs, has good soil and lots of sun. Did the whole herb thing for the first time. Basil, rosemary, oregano, regular mint, chocolate mint. The regular mint is great in tea.

We grew some tomatoes, too. We are hooked on our own tomatoes drizzled with balsamic vinegar & olive oil. Sometimes we add a little fresh mozzarella or blue cheese. When we went to the Grand Canyon last year, we went through Sedona and stopped at an olive oil shop. Sampled lots of different flavors and brought some home along with the aged balsamic which is totally different from what you find in the grocery stores. We’re spoiled now.

Again with the growing up…Dad had a hand crank and we’d all take turns. Everybody in the family has a White Mountain electric now, but he insists the old hand crank was always better. We used to make it a lot with my parent’s best friends throughout the entire year. I remember one New Year’s Eve sitting outside with coats on eating homemade ice cream.

at the appropriate time, and outside of the SEC, I love Coach K and Duke. Shane Battier was one of my all-time favorite college players.

I never watch pro BB anymore, but grew up rooting for Larry Byrd and Kevin McHale.

basketball with hockey. Hockey season is probably my favorite. When Ohio got the Blue Jackets back in 2000, I turned my back on the Penguins and have seen at least 85% of their games (mostly on TV, I only go to about 8-10 a year). I think this is finally the year they will make a decent playoff run. Of course, I have been saying that for a few years.

Not quite south and not quite west. A beautiful state – at least what I’ve seen.

BTW, one of my pet peeves is having to ask for “sweet” tea. Growing up, I didn’t know there was any other way to drink tea other than with lots of sugar and on ice. I make a gallon fresh at least every week.

I use all of the recipes that my mom has passed down. Her brother also taught me how to make a liquid that has similar ingredients to bread. I think they call it beer. I enjoy making it more than drinking it, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t get drank.

I will keep an eye out for your recipes. They sound good, and acat can’t be the only one growing my recipe file. That will wear the poor cat out.

We’re setting the churn up here tomorrow, lemon custard ice cream. First trial. Not sure about it. Would rather have had white chocolate ice cream instead.
