Powell Endorses Obama. Who Endorses Romney from the Military?

There was a recent media frenzy when Obama announced that General Colin Powell endorsed him for President. The NY Times helpfully noted that

Mr. Powell said he supported Mr. Obama in part because he is ending the war in Afghanistan and has a strong counter-terrorism record. “There’s some very, very strong neo-conservative views that are presented by the governor that I have some trouble with,” he said. “I’m not quite sure which Governor Romney we’d be getting with respect to foreign policy,” he said.

Along with Powell, Obama’s military support includes General Wesley Clark, USA, (Ret), Major General Paul Eaton, USA (Ret, Admiral Donald Gutter, USN, former JAG of the Navy, (Ret) and Admiral John Nathman, USN, (Ret).

Reuters, ABC, Huffington Post, CNN — they all lead the day with stories about this news. A repeat endorsement from 2008!

Obama has also been pushing the narrative, even including it in a video in swing states.

Sounds impressive, right?

So who endorsed Romney from the military?

Excellent work! I heard that Piers Morgan ambushed Giuliani with Gen. Wesley “Ashley Wilkes” Clark last night regarding Benghazi. So ready to be rid of this regime!

It’s the Energizer Bunny list. It keeps going and going…

Last count I saw had it at 496. And one of Obama’s endorsements (Clark) wanted to be President…as a Democrat. So, how much stock can you really put into that one?

I don’t see his name on the list, but I’m sure that former Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin does not want any more of the Obama years. For those of you who don’t remember his name: “…Jerry Boykin was one of the original members of the US Army’s Delta Force. He was privileged to ultimately command these elite warriors in combat operations. Later, Jerry Boykin commanded all the Army’s Green Berets. He has participated in clandestine operations around the world. Today he is an ordained minister…” He may not have actually endorsed Romney, but anyone listening to his interviews can tell who he will be voting for.

It pains me to say this, as I had quite the respect for General Powell for so many years but; he has fallen victim to the lure of liberal popularity.

He was a great soldier and will forever have my respects for service for his country but he has lost my ear and trust.

To not see that the divide was not the Republican Party but the now very liberal Democratic Party is to be blind to the realities of the last four years. Moreover, if Powell wanted to place the divisive political responsibility at the feet of Republicans, it would be blind to the reality that the Republicans have only had power in one of the three arms of the government and for only 2 years.

That’s like having 1/8 the ability to have any power whatsoever.

He makes the decision for reasons other than what he state and I don’t much care why.

I would never disrespect a soldier for being a Democrat but if only for honest reasons.

Is Colin Powell’s endorsement really all that important these days? Yes, he’s a respected individual, but I think the days when both candidates were touting him as a Secretary of State (a la 2000) are long gone.
They’re playing radio ads with his endorsement here in North Carolina, and a coworker of mine ended up asking who they were talking about. She eventually remembered who Colin Powell was, but her next comment was to the effect of why anyone would care at this point.

Exactly — that’s why it was so amusing when there was the generated media blitz about Powell’s endorsement. He’s irrelevant, and the endorsement truly pales in comparison to Romney’s support

Very nice list, but unimportant in my opinion. The one that is important is here:

I’d imagine R. Lee Ermey should be on the list of Romney’s military supporters.

Five hundred retired generals and admirals are running an ad in Monday’s editions of The Washington Times calling on the country to elect Republican Mitt Romney on Tuesday. You can see the ad below:
