Obama’s Statement Against Raising the Debt Ceiling Disappears from Senate Records

According to National Review Online, Obama had this to say when he voted against raising the debt ceiling in 2006.

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better”.

However, when you click on the link in the NRO article, it doesn’t work anymore. The link goes to Senate files. Instead, you get this message now:

Thank you.

So, now there is no official, accessible, verifiable record that Obama ever uttered those words about debt ceiling limitations.

He might just sound like his opponents.

History is always good to you when you can rewrite it at will. What a mess!

Impeachment or rebellion. We don’t survive any other way.

How Orwellian of our current Senate Leadership. I am certain that there is no actual issue here. Just the cleansing of history of anything that might taint Big Brother, oh, wait, Obama.

I actually copied it in to an email I sent this morning. The link I used was through Heritage Foundation’s Morning Bell. It worked. Here it is.

Sorry it’s so long. Don’t know a better way to do it, though. Blessings!

Fantastic. Obama’s full response starts on page S2237. Thanks to the Heritage Foundation and the Government Printing Office (GPO) for preserving the records.
