So...Obama is a "totally unqualified " candidate who will only win because of affirmative action? Did I miss the concern for white affirmative action here? Republicans didn't seem to have an issue with the supremely unqualified GWB--his entire career is the result of white affirmative action--Yale, Harvard, getting out of Vietnam, not prosecuted for going AWOL, Arbusto saved due to Dad's friends, etc etc. I won't go into his list of spectacular failures as pres.--he has EARNED that 24% approval rating!(Plus Jeb and Neil Bush benefiting totally from Dad pulling the strings for their business ventures). McCain--got into Anapolis through Dad and Grandad's string-pulling-(and graduated 894 out of 898)-ditto getting a fighter pilot's berth, no punishment for crashing a few planes, setting USS Forrestal on fire. Palin? Where's her experience? Running a town of a few thousand where she wasn't responsible for schools or tranportation, screwing up the only big project she had going, leaving the town 20 million in debt. Hiring an administrator to run the day-to-day stuff as gov because she really isn't too interested in the nuts and bolts, hiring her incompetent high school friends to positions they are totally unqualified for...there seems to be a lot of affirmative action going around. Repubs need to wake up and face reality--I know it's hard after 8 years of denial...

The only thing that makes sense in Bolton's article is the last comment,

"The Republican Party much clean house or it's lost."

All the rest is flim.

With spokespeople in the likes of Ms. Bachmann and/or Palin, and add Bolton, the RNC has their work cut out for them for sure.

Fascist come in all shapes and sizes and it's clearly evident and racism is alive and well in the Republican Party.

But I believe we will be faced with at least 4 years of Obama and possibly 8. No doubt the first 4 years will be spent with a Dem house and senate.

I think the RNC will have time to look in the mirror and possibly get into the 21st century and leave the extreme right wing twisting in the wind, where they should be ... with their white hoods on.

I like many life long Republican's are totally disgusted with the Fascist display that I'm seeing from the right of my party and I along with many, many Republican's will vote for Obama as a result. If the RNC doesn't the message ... be damned.

And McCain ... he has sold his soul ... a loser.

Her support and favorability is disproportionately higher among men, the demographic more likely to agree with her and support her policies and ideology.

If she were Kay Bailey Hutchison or one of the Bobbsey twins from Maine, I'm guessing you'd see a different result.

I have heard this before, and I want to know when the Republicans moved to the right on social/cultural issues at all, and what specific policies show it?

As far as I can tell, the party has held mostly the same position as long as the issue has existed. Some might say it has moved left depending on the issue.

I fail to see any rightward drift though.

My God is non-corporeal. He is something we can not fully comprehend because we have no frame of reference that can help our little human brains understand Him in fullness.

By the way, your act would actually play better in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia or Iran. You know. The place where the religious crazies enforce orthodoxy through intimidation and violence.

Somehow I doubt you had the same questions about John Edwards in 2004.

His only elected office was Senator, and he started his presidential run almost immediately after starting his first term.

Funny thing is, Senators never get this, but Governors almost invariably do. Reagan, Carter, Clinton, now Palin. What is it about merely being posted to DC gives you automatic bona-fides?

It can't be that big a deal, the last Senator elected to President was LBJ, the last SITTING Senator was JFK. That changes this year, of course.

But since when does mere legislation supersede the establishment clause?

Now, I'm agnostic about gay marriage. As long as this right doesn't become a club to trample the constitutional right of a church to worship according to their religious dictates.

For same sex couples to have all the rights and responsibilities of civil marriage without the name "marriage" works for me. However, I do understand the impulse to want to be accepted. To me, two men or two women who love each other and are married is a wonderful thing that is equal to the relationship I have with my wife.

I think of how I would feel if Protestant Christians insisted that my Roman Catholic marriage wasn't valid or was less worthy than theirs. That would certainly be their right, as Americans, to believe what they want. What would not be American, is for them to create a law that would enforce their point of view.

You said you wanted something and seemed surprised to learn that the law already affords every "right" you mentioned. Every right that is, but unconditional love and acceptance of a definition that a cat is a dog by fiat. Call it a civil union if you want, but it is not a marriage.

With all that has gone on in the past weeks, I am not sure I am ready for a lecture in manners from any liberal. Having said that, I feel it is important to let people know why they will not be receiving a response from me, particularly when the conversation did not involve them in the first place.

I have been through the same argument with people like Han a million times. I have heard what he said in his first sentence a million times. He will not budge me, I will not budge him, and I am simply not interested in what he has to say any longer.

That's all.

what is "normal" and normal is defined for you by your religious beliefs. Good thing for us that the law doesn't care about your beliefs or lack thereof.

If anyone and everyone can join a club, it alters and sullies the core of the club. Should Catholics be able to join the JDL? Should adult males be able to join the Girl Scouts. Everything right you are concerned about can be accomplished via contract. It is not "rights" they want. It is an affirmation of normalcy by force of law. Homosexuality might not be destructive, but it is not "normal".

Yeah, that's right pal. I know YOU. I've seen you guys throughout my life and know you intimately. Why? I was ONE OF YOU! You despise God and you cannot admit it or by doing so your argument loses its weight.

Implement my version of Christianity? Well, my version of Christianity doesn't allow me to kill godless anti-christian types like yourself. You don't want that implemented? Hmm, my version of Christianity says that when you attack my version, I shouldn't beat the living crap out of you. Are you against that part of my version of Christianity too?

You cannot face the fact that Christianity is the basis, as shown above, of many of our laws. The further we get from it, the further we descend into being like mindless animals.

Like it or not, MY VERSION OF CHRISTIANITY has likely saved your butt countless times. You just might want to look into it.
