While we hear a lot of optimism about how the public is turning against Democrat policies and their efforts to socialize the government, I can’t be optimistic.  Things that once were so basic in our culture and government have been turned upside down with very little objection on the surface.  Are there boiling masses down underneath the static?  Maybe so.  But I don’t see it.  What is happening today should precipitate an uproar.  But what do we have;  Obama with a approval rating up around 50%; a radical, leftist congress going about their business as though a great majority is on their side and rumblings in the conservative sphere but nothing but a few thousand here and there seeming to care much about it.

Sure, the Dems lost the Virginia and New Jersey governorships and that is certainly a good sign but with small majorities on such matters it is disturbing.  We see apathy all around on some very important issues.  And we have independents, I believe, that can very well go either way, ignoring important issues with a little bit of good news.  I fear Democrats only need to have a little good news next summer to push these independents right back into the Democrat column.  Our problem is about a third of the electorate with little principles other than what they think is “good” for them.

There is a lot more at stake in the next elections than what is “good” for people.  What we have is an attack on our very foundations of the nation.  And we must depend upon mush moderates to protect it.

We may soon see what many of us expected was true; the Obama people made sure Obama contributors did not suffer Chrysler closings.  It was and is impossible for me to believe that Obama and his cronies would be non partisian in closing Chrysler dealerships.  The “Chicago Way” is now firmly implanted in Washington and is openly being employed in virtually every facit of the administration so I would doubt that Chrysler (or GM for that matter) could escape this corrupt administration as they are confident the cult following will go along and the MSM will protect them.

Which brings to view as to why Republicans give us a much more honest and ethical government when they are in power.  No, it may not be because Republicans are any more free of corruption or ethical lapses than Democrats (although I could likely make a good case for it given the opportunity).  It is due to the fact that Republicans are hated by the MSM and the media are always looking for opportunities to discredit and/or embarrass Republicans.  They do their constitutional job when Republicans seek power.  The result is that Republican corruption is rooted out and unethical behavior is exposed.  Of course, the innocent Republicans are caught up in it as well as the media try to assure the election of Democrats in the next election cycle.  But, inadvertently, the media give us a more honest government in the process as long as Republicans control the government.

The problem is that this usually results in Democrats dominating elections following Republican dominance.  And THAT is where our problems begin.  Corruption will explode (as we see today) when Democrats gain power.  But it is for TWO reasons.  First, the MSM will do what they can to see that Democrats stay in power and will ignore corruption in plain sight as well as cover up for corruption and unethical conduct on the part of Democrats.  Any such behavior exposed by the internet or the few conservative media sources will result in the MSM going all out to excuse the Democrat behavior.  Instead of investigative reporting they will seek out those sympathizing with Democrats and flood the airways with excuses and equally bad behavior by Republicans.   Secondly, the Democrat base will excuse almost anything of a liberal and together with the MSM they can sway the ignorant and gullible (a large part of the voting public).  On the other hand, the conservative Republican base will demand immediate resignation from Republicans who are exposed.

The result is a large imbalance in the electibility of candidates in the two parties and almost guarantees that liberal Democrats, and the corruption and lack of ethics that comes with them, will dominate.  Add to all this the liberal influence of entertainment, the liberal brainwashing in academia (turning our wave after wave of ignorance and historical lies) and the day after day pounding of the liberal media elevating Democrats and you see a dim view of what the future has to offer for the nation.  And as secularism smothers the value system religion provides we may be in a whirlpool now too strong to keep us from being sucked into the abyss.

So there will be no hearings on the lies the CIA told to Nancy Pelosi?

Let’s see, either Pelosi is lying or the CIA was.  The Democrats say they have confidence in Pelosi so they must be saying that the CIA is lying.  Isn’t THAT a BIG DEAL??

Not to the Democrats evidently.  A lying CIA is OK.

The real story is that the three-legged stool the Democrats depend upon is OK with it.  These are the ideologically pure, the ignorant and the gullible.

Now, let’s explain it very carefully.

Pelosi did what Democrats do…..they lie or distort whenever it is politically expediant.  To leftists, i.e. Democrat leadership, political power is paramount.  They have no religion other than their liberal agenda.  Once we get that straight in our minds then all the rest is easy.

Although Pelosi hated America back after 9/11 just as much as she hates it now, she saw what was poltically correct back after 9/11.  Liberals sense what they can get away with and will moderate in times where it is necessary.  It was not the time to be bashing America.  The “thing” to do back then was to get the terrorists and protect America.  The normal dupes Democrat liberals could depend upon pre 9/11 had been caught up in the patriot thing and Pelosi knew she would have to play the game for a time.  Leftists like Pelosi however never for a minute change their thinking.  They simply knew that polls showed liberalism would be discredited even among their usual dupes if they bashed the country like they normally liked to do.

Pelosi and her bunch had to change tactics for a time.  They were convinced, as most of us were, that it was impossible to prevent another attack on the U.S. in the coming year or so after 9/11.  So they changed tactics to make the claim Republicans were not making us safer and that we were in just as much danger from another terrorists attack, or even more so, than before.  Remember that?  This, they thought, would put them in position to say “I told you so!” when that next inevitable attack came.  And, of course, they hoped the next attack would come as long as none of their own loved ones were in the line of fire.

Now, where Pelosi got in trouble is when Bush got reelected and the Iraq war went poorly for awhile.  Then Abu Graib came along and “torture” became the new Democrat “gotcha” tactic of the day.  Pelosi, being the political opportunist she is, saw the opportunity to beat Republicans about the head with “torture” claims and couldn’t resist the chance despite her previous acceptance of waterboarding and other interrogation tactics.   You must understand that Pelosi, like most leftists, has no concerns about principle as everything is based upon political advantage.  She now saw that “torture” could resonate with the American people.  The gullible could once again be depended upon and had lost the patriotic fervor that 9/11 had generated years ago.  Pelosi now felt confident to do a 180 degree flip-flop and get away with it.

Pelosi figured she could flip-flop with little consequence.  After all, Democrats do it all the time and can be confident the MSM would turn a blind eye.  But she miscalculated.  Her lying was too blatant.  The liberal press will normally make something like this a one day story and give any Democrat a pass.  But Pelosi kept changing her story and making the story grow.  Now, the press senses, like Obama and other leftist Democrats, that Pelosi may actually be hurting the agenda and they may be toying with the idea that if this gets any worse Pelosi might have to be thrown under the bus.  They figure this may not be all that bad since Pelosi has terrible personal poll numbers and is so openly partisian it makes it more difficult to mask their true agenda.  Democrats have learned over the years that if their leaders have a calm demeanor and trusting tone they can snooker the majority of voters every time and pass an agenda the majority of Americans do not want.  Obama claimed in his book that he could disarm whites by doing this.  Pelosi does not fit this mold and if she gets to be too much of a burden Obama figures he can cut his losses with her early on and get someone as the Speaker having a tone that can fool people much easier.  And make no mistake, the Obama agenda depends upon fooling the public over and over until we are in the clutches of government so deep there will be no exit.

Pelosi may be in trouble.  It depends upon if the MSM chooses to help her or not.  And the MSM will look to Obama for the signal.

The Republican Party has to begin to rebuild on the basis of a firm foundation.  This can never be accomplished dragging around the weight from the likes of Spector, Collins, Snowe or even McCain.  Now that Spector has given the Dems the 60 votes they need for cloture it would be a good time to send Collins and Snowe packing as well.  McCain may or may not choose to stick around but let him go as well and make it known moderates can well be accepted and contribute to the Republican Party but liberal Republicans should go where their heart resides.  At least we will then know the odds.

The problem is that Republicans no longer have a brand partly due to liberal Republicans in the ranks throwing a wrench in everything.  Snowe, Collins and McCain love the attention they receive from going up against Republican efforts and love that adoration more than their loyalty to the Republican Party.  This permits the liberal media to make THEM the story when the legislation at hand needs to be the focus.  Casting off these chains would send the signal that  Republicans are serious about what they stand for.  It very well might take several election cycles before voters turn back to conservatism but we know that liberalism will fail.  It will once again create a “misery index” that will cause the middle to again break back to the right; even if it is their only choice.  But carrying the weight of liberal Republicans simply prevents progress.  Let them go!  Let them take the responsiblity of the calamity that is sure to come.  In that way the choice will be clear.

Liberal Democrats soon to be in charge of the government have always searched for ways to spend money they do not have whether in the majority or minority.   Creating a “crisis” has been their chosen tactic to distract voters and use “the sky is falling” strategy to justify deficit spending.  The health care “crisis”, the global warming “crisis”, the education “crisis”, the energy “crisis”, the unemployment “crisis”, and on and on it goes.  And even when a problem is real it can usually be traced back to unintended consequences of previous legislation pushed on the basis of another “crisis”.  With about 25% of voters willing to vote for even a serial murderer as long as they were perceived as liberal and another 40% who look to The Comedy Channel, Saturday Night Live and Rolling Stone magazine for their “news”, it’s not difficult to hoodwink enough voters sufficiently blind, ignorant or misinformed to get to a winning 51%.
