SHOCK POLL: PALIN PULLS WITHIN 5-POINTS OF OBAMA

Thats the headline at Drudge. All the info below is found in the link posted at the bottom.

“Look out President Barack Obama. Even Sarah Palin’s gaining on you.

A new McClatchy-Marist poll finds that Obama looks increasingly vulnerable in next year’s election, with a majority of voters believing he’ll lose to any Republican, a solid plurality saying they’ll definitely vote against him and most potential Republican challengers gaining on him.

Even in potential matchups where he leads, Obama in most cases has lost ground to the Republican.

The biggest gain came for Palin, the former Alaska governor who hasn’t yet announced whether she’ll jump into the fast-changing race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

After trailing Obama by more than 20 percentage points in polls all year, the new national survey, taken Sept. 13-14, found Palin trailing the president by just 5 points, 49-44 percent. The key reason: She now leads Obama among independents, a sharp turnaround.”

Although I have ardently defended SP (except on some of her foreign policy views), I have thought she should not enter the race. But now I think she should. Bachmann’s support has been sinking and now there is a reason for SP to be in the race. I think Perry’s support on the Right is soft — he is the viable non-Romney, but there is still a lot of question whether the country is ready for Texas again. If SP gets in, this becomes a horserace between Perry, Romney and Palin all around 20% each, with Paul in solid and consistent low teens. If Bachmann got out and threw her organization in Iowa behind SP, then we’d have an exciting winter.

I think Palin is waiting for Bachmann to flatline and Perry to fail to thrive.

That’s kind of a work in progress right now, don’t you think?

a pimple on a cockroach’s butt could beat Obama at this point. I’m in the conspiracy theory gang that thinks Obama made a deal with Hillary Clinton – that she’s running for president for 2012 and will appoint him to the Supreme Court. That way he actually gets to be “relevant” for the rest of his life. I don’t think the presidency gives him enough power…

But it’s much more clearly good news for some other folks.

Your conclusions will likely depend on who you want to run in the first place.

Let’s get the candidate who is most committed to eviscerating Washingtonianism.

Frankly this is a dream poll for Obama as he’d like nothing better than to face Palin. Based on today’s data and economic forecasts from the IMF and the Fed….Any GOP candidate should be in good shape come November 2012.

He says he wants to face her thinking he can spook the GOP out of actually nominating her.

The White House also called Huntsman the most difficult candidate Obama would face.

    Puh-lease.

It just looks way, way off. Marist has always been kind of a junky, low budget polling outfit and I don’t find much of that poll believable.

I mean seriously Obama does slightly better in this poll than some of the polls released in the last few days. He does better against every single candidate in this poll except Palin shoots through the roof. And GOP and lean GOP numbers in the poll are way low.

I don’t mean offense to Palin when I call a massive bu!!$hit on this entire poll. I have no idea how a low GOP id in a poll could lead to Palin performing that well, but its much easier to believe that they blew the poll in more ways given their id mistakes and given their history for cheap shoddy polls then a sudden amazingly freak rise for Palin.

This poll being a mistake will be confirmed in future polling.

I am a fan of Palin, although my opinion of her has gotten progressively more dim, the longer she drags this thing out. I was COMPLETELY turned off by her telling Greta that “she liked being a tease.” I didn’t find that endearing, cute,or politically smart. I also have to say how much of a turn off it is to have someone who hints at running, but holds out, lets the debates go on without participating, and then thinks it’s perfectly fine to go on t.v. afterward to give her critique. Seems either cowardly at th most or unfair at the least. How many of the candidates on the stage would like the opportunity to appear on t.v. afterward without having first being on the stage and having to face the fire along with everyone else? I still like most of her views, she is exactly the same as Perry on immigration,BTW,but don’t agree with her backing McCain. This poll by McClatchy has to be looked at with a very critical eye, look at ones in the past for your impression today, this is not a NEUTRAL polling firm. It would be in their best interest to have Palin get in,her and Perry would duke it out,to her loss I am afraid, but Mitt would pull a McCain and be the last man standing, which is exactly what mclatchy WANTS. I frankly, do not trust Romney to follow thru with any of his promises regarding obamacare,or anything else for that matter. He is only a lighter version of Obama and a governor who LOST jobs and passed an entitlement program that skyrocketed insurance premiums, cost of care and lost even more jobs in his own state. He knew he would not be re-elected in his own state. I have noticed an uptick lately from the left on pushing Sarah Palin-it is clear what they are doing and won’t work on me.
