Am I the only one?

Am I the only one who thinks Gingrich would totally decimate President Obama in a debate better than anyone on that stage tonight?

Am I the only one who thinks Gingrich can articulate his positions betters than anyone else on that stage?

Am I the only one who Gingrich is the only candidate who has been able to stay on message and keep the focus on President Obama amidst all the useless political bickering?

Am I the only one who thinks that Gingrich would eliminate a key talking point by President Obama? Obama loves to blame congress for his failed agenda. The Democrats love to say that Bush inherited a surplus. But, think about this, Gingrich is pre- George Bush. Gingrich helped balance a budget and worked with a President from a different party. So, that argument would be out the window.

Am I the only one who dismissed Gingrich a few months ago and now I am writing something like this in his support?

…is our country willing to let a few incidents with women get in the way of taking down a president who has ruined our country???

I was originally with Pawlenty because I figured he was more electable and I liked him. I liked Newt as well, but he stumbled so badly out of the gate, I just figured he had not chance. After T-Paw dropped, I had a glance at Perry (and went ‘ugh’) and then moved to team Newt. Still didn’t think he had a chance, but glad to be proved wrong! They say they’ve raised $500,000 in the past couple of days so lets hope the money continues to come in. And he’s now got a SuperPac!

a very important element to this race considering we’re going up against a well financed, unscrupulous incumbent that is also a tireless campaigner.

I have yet to contribute to Newt or Perry’s campaign as I made a substantial contribution to MB’s whom I greatly admire and had hoped she stood a chance at the time. Contributing to her campaign seemed the most direct way to aid since I have no time these days to volunteer my help in other ways. I threw my hat in with her. But, it’s clear to me now that her greatest impact on this race was to influence the other candidates conservative tone. And, she will not get the political support she needs from the party to be considered for the nomination in the first place.

Sorry Michelle, I feel bad jumping ship, but time is marching forward, and we have to get behind a winning team now.

IMO, Newt stands in the same corner as Mitt Romney on the size of government….BIG. And as such, thats why I haven’t heard anything substantial from him about reducing the deficit. Where does he stand with the UN, the WTO and the IMF?
When he was in Congress, he voted in favor of the creation of some of these and other international organizations which I believe are threatening to our national sovreignty.
Newt is a populist. He may be speaking out about the danger of some of these things now, but that does not mean that he would do anything about it if he were elected. Can he be trusted? That is the question I have kept asking myself for many months now.
He does have some good ideas for reform in many areas that would certainly be useful and I believe he would be helpful to the economy. He knows how govt works and has a lotta connections in the private sector.

The bigger question is, is he electable and can he beat 0bama?
0bama has more money, bigger organization behind his campaign.

But there is no question that Newt would out-debate 0bama in a heartbeat.

It seems Perry is losing support as his debate performance continues to show no improvement. Although I dont doubt Perry’s principles, I will not vote for someone in the primary that I know cant win a debate against 0bama. I dont want another 4 years of 0bama.

In last nights debate, Gingrich said he is in favor of auditing the FED. If that is so true Newt, why didn’t you push for a bill auditing the FED while you were in Congress? Please stop stealing ideas from Ron Paul and acting like they originated with you. One other thing, what were you doing for Freddie Mac Mr. Gingrich? I mean what you were really doing not the rope-a-dope you gave us last night.

If I were hiring a POTUS , it would be him. However, he has to win an election and that takes money and I don’t think Newt can get enough.

On the other hand, every time Cain opens his mouth he sounds like a fool but we have so many Republicans with white guilt that they are propping up his numbers even though he is obviously a philandering, serial sexual predator who is less prepared to be President than Obama was.

I started out in his corner, dumped him over the ‘right=wing’ engineering comment. I landed in the Perry camp, but he isn’t living up to my expectations. So I am back with Gingrich – his gaffes/flaws are small compared to the rest of the candidates and I don’t think I will change my mind again unless he drops out before I get to vote.

I just realized that Newt has the lowest ‘negatives’ in my mind (based on the debates). He certainly is the least boring to listen to!
My husband and I watched a lecture series he did on Georgia Educational TV back in the 90′s. He was very interesting.
He has a proven track record. I guess he is on my ‘short list’ for the primary.

and determine that he is not likely the man they want to run the country? (and I say that with Newt as my second choice, but let’s not kid ourselves into thinking he doesn’t have flaws)

and may I add, Speaker Gingrich is not the smartes in the room, but the wisest… I can forgive his couch-time with Nancy Pelosi.

I think the choice of who is the best man to run the country is an easy one.

A Super PAC was just launched to support Newt on Wednesday. I think this will be a big help. His group American Solutions was able to raise large amounts of money from deep pocketed corporations.

Also, I read this week that he has 9 paid staffers in South Carolina and just opened a new headquarters there, 9 paid staffers and I found this stat suprising, puts him with the largest number of paid staffers in the state of any candidate.

to Newt from debate to debate, but only from the point of view that I would like to see him on the ticket with Perry. As time passes I’m more convinced than ever that being a good debater will be critical in the next elections if it’s going to be a close call.

Until I have a solid reason to think otherwise, a Perry/Gingrich ticket would be a solid matchup against Obama and Biden….

I personally liked the way Perry handled his gaffe, he comes off as sincere and human, but still a capable President and strong leader. As time goes on, I will have to make a choice between Newt and Perry or Perry and Newt, but doubt that I will abandon ether candidate as I don’t see anyone else in the Republican race that would have a chance in a close race against Obama.

  • paladin1

I have come to the same conclusions as you and will support Governor Perry until he is elected or leaves the race (which I do not believe he will do). I have also picked Gingrich as the pairing to Perry as I well remember 1994 and his successes. I know he has flaws but I do not believe they are fatal, given the Obama alternative. He is an acceptable fallback if the Perry campaign closes, but again, I do not think that will happen.

  • Wayne

If he is half the leader and convicted individual I believe him to be, he’s 1000 times the leader Obama is. Both men have strong convictions, but Perry’s convictions are more in harmony with mine as a Constitutional conservative.

Newt’s, just a smart guy, familiar with the political arena and as sincere as Perry, but perhaps not as conservative as myself is what I’m saying.

Let’s keep supporting these guys, because they need it and and we need someone like them representing us.
