A walk down Memory Lane with Jeffrey Lords and his excellant June 14th article in the American Spectator:

http://spectator.org/archives/2011/06/14/is-mitt-romney-the-new-nelson/5

“…Rockefeller Republicanism is Mitt Romney’s political core, his every political instinct, and it expresses itself and will continue to express itself as Romney moves through this campaign. Asking him to stop is like demanding the Pope not sound so, well, Catholic. All of which poses an interesting dilemma for Republicans. Here’s a great candidate for president. He’s got the looks, the charm, the energy, the brains and, if not Rockefeller-style money, at least enough plus the ability to raise more. The problem: He tries hard to sound like Ronald Reagan. But he thinks like Nelson Rockefeller.”

Believe me, I’ve had my fill of, and feel for, Romney/Milliken Republicans. Growing up physically and politically in Michigan as a Goldwater supporter and then a Reagan Delegate from Gerry Ford’s homestate at the ‘76 GOP National Convention in Kansas City, Jeffrey Lord nails this one on the head!

Now that the complete GOP candidate field has been defined, and last summer and fall have proved to be more fun than any political junkie could EVER imagine. The GOP needs a candidate that will present a positive AmeriCAN message that there is a difference between Statism and Liberty! Romney just is NOT that candidate.

Is Gingrinch that candidate? Is Gingrich making the case for Liberty over Statism? When Newt became Speaker in 1996 I was in “Man Love” with every word spoken about what Newt and the GOP Congress was going to do to make government smaller and more responsive to “we the people”. After Newt left Congress I saw that even though Newt had good ideas about how to make government “more responsive” is was still “Government” that was making the decisions and choices on how we were best able to live our lives. Was Newt a Statist with a capital “S” or a small “s”? Would his government just be more of the same with a softer tyranny? Would we still spend the same, or maybe a little less, money at the Federal level but on “Smarter” Federal programs? Who would define ‘Smarter”?

Is Rick Perry That candidate? Is Perry making the case for Liberty over Statism? Will Perry take a scalpel to the Federal Budget or a meat axe? Will he eliminate whole Federal Departments like Education, Energy, HUD, Commerce, Transportation, EPA, OSHA, etc and turn their functions back to the States to decide wether their taxpayers can even afford such things, or even want state government involved? Perry’s book “Fed Up” and consistent anti Federal Government, pro 10th Amendment campign helps answer those questions well.

If you aren’t already, become a Precinct Delegate and be where the action is the week of August 27th 2012 in Tampa Florida! Help Rick Perry destroy the Federal Leviathan!

From Jeffrey Lords excellant article in this weeks American Spectator:

Here’s a great candidate for president. He’s got the looks, the charm, the energy, the brains and, if not Rockefeller-style money, at least enough plus the ability to raise more.

The problem:

He tries hard to sound like Ronald Reagan.

But he thinks like Nelson Rockefeller.”

Believe me, I’ve had my fill of, and feel for, Romney/Miliken Republicans. Growing up physically and politically in Michigan as a Goldwater supporter and then a Reagan Delegate from Gerry Ford’s homestate at the ‘76 GOP National Convention in Kansas City, Jeffrey Lord nails this one on the head!

Besides, the complete GOP candidate field may not even defined yet. Who else with a big political ego will sense this is a GOP year? Who else will think that they can best represent Liberty over Tyranny? With Obummer’s numbers and the economy sinking like a rock, even the Demonrat field may open up?

This summer and fall are gonna be more fun than any political junkie could EVER imagine. The GOP needs a candidate that will present a positive AmeriCAN message that there is a difference between Statism and Liberty! Romney just is NOT that candidate. The primaries and caucuses NEXT YEAR help us determine who that will be. Everything until then is so much posturing for position for said events.

Relax folks! We Conservative-nouns WILL have the best candidate in 2012, and She/He will beat the Dem. Will we also have the best candidates for Local, State and other Federal offices? Lets make sure we don’t let the Presidential race overshadow electing the Army we will need in the fall to help She/He destroy the Federal Leviathan!

If you aren’t already, become a Precinct Delegate and be where the action is the week of August 27th 2012!

This quote from Timothy P. Carney in the 6/8/11 Washington Examiner says it all about the political judgement of Rick Santorum. You can read Tim’s article here: http://washingtonexaminer.com/politics/2011/06/santorums-record-politics-trumping-principle , or my Diary of June 7th here: http://www.redstate.com/audax/ entitled “Santorum Political Do Over Would Be His Vote for the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill Rather than Supporting Snarlin’ Arlen in 2004 over Pat Toomey”

In Santorum’s quest for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, I believe this politically expedient action from 2004 will be the ghost that comes to haunt Rick Santorum throughout his short lived quest and the “thing” he will come to regret the most, even if he will not recognize it.

On the 06/06 Mark Levin Show starting at 1:39:27:

Mark Levin: “Now is there anything that you voted for, or maybe one or two things that you voted for that you think your opponents will attack, or the left will attack, or that you regret?”

Rick Santorum:“…uhhh..well..the left will attack I don’t know…but I as..I..as far as what..what..my political opponents on the right will attack is that I voted for the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill and..you know I said at the time..I gave speeches at the time this was the hardest vote I have ever had to cast because..you know there its..uhhh..one of those things..were you know there are a couple of things in this bill that are really bad…”

Once upon a time…I was a big supporter of Rick Santorum primarily because he was a stalwart warrior in the fight against abortion and Planned Parenthood aka Margaret Sanger’s “Negro Project”. Then in 2004 something happened that allowed me to see into the future of Rick Santorum and his adherence to “Conservative Principles” and that was his abandonment of the true Conservative-noun in the PA primary for US Senate in favor of a known RINO, Snarlin’ Arlen Specter! This opinion was confirmed in 2010 when on Bill Bennets radio show Santorum threw Joe Miller under the bus and said he didn’t have a chance in his quest to defeat another known RINO, Lisa Moocowski, in the Alaska Senate race. Could Santorums support of Joe Miller help stop Mooocowskis bid? Give Joe those few extra votes he would need to defeat the RINO Moocowski? We’ll never know because, again, just like in 2004, Rick Santorum took the politacally expedient course of action and threw Joe Miller under the bus!

The straw that made me realize that Santorum was just not ready to be President was again on the Bill Bennet Show. Santorum articulated his ignorance of the Middle East situation when he pontificated on Bethleham being in the Gaza Strip which was controlled by Hamas, and Hamas wouldn’t let Christians visit at the Christmas Holidays. This after a record number of Christians visited Bethleham which in reality is on the West Bank just a few miles from Jerusalem and not controlled by Hamas (yet).

Folks, the potential nominee field for the GOP nomination in 2012 is NOT SET! We Conservative-nouns should not be satisfied with candidates who will throw over their alleged Conservative Principles at the first sign of Statist or RINO pushback against real Conservative-noun candidates! We have much better choices than Rick Santorum. Choices who have NOT made politically expediant decisions that effect elections for true Conservatives. I for one am keeping my options open and watching as this wonderful and amazing primary season opens before us. Yes, we have our favorites, we can still enjoy the show, but watching Santorum fight the ghosts of his political past is tiresome!

Santorum then went on to justify his vote at the time, but admitted that he would not vote for this bill today. He went on about how he is the candidate that will stand up for Conservative principles, and how so and so “sold us out” etc. But there is one incident Santorum will come to regret, even though he refuse to recognize it, and that is: What did Santorum do in 2004 when the choice was supporting Snarlin’ Arlen or a true Conservative, Pat Toomey? Did Santorum stand with his Conservative principles or did he make a calculated political decision? A political decision that “sold out” the Conservative? The Conservative that when on to WIN the very same seat six years later!

Everything he said in the interview about his family, about anything regarding Conservative principles, about why we should vote for him in the 2012 primaries was automatically discounted because in 2004 when Santorum could have stood up for a true Conservative, Pat Toomey, he didn’t. He showed he was just another politician. That will cost him any hope of being the Conservative nominee in 2012.

One reader commented that the GOP needs an “Enema”. If you REALLY want to “clean out” the rotten GOP “system” it requires TEA Party activist being very active at their monthly County GOP meeting. This is where the TEA Party ”Enema” of the GOP starts.

1.) GOP Precinct Committeemen elect delegates to the GOP District and GOP State Conventions.

2.) Delegates to the GOP State Convention elect the GOP National Committeemen and State Party Chairman representing their State at the National level as well as Nominating Delegates to the GOP Nominating Convention held every four years.

3.) Delegates to the GOP Nominating Convention elect The GOP Presidential Nominee. ONLY Delegates to the GOP Nominating Convention can vote for the eventual GOP Nominee!

So if you REALLY want to give the GOP an TEA Party “Enema” head to your NEXT GOP monthly County meeting and become a precinct delegate. For an even more effective “Enema” take your like minded conservative-noun friends and neighbors and elect yourselves to the Executive Committe, the Rules Committee and the Nominations Committee (sometimes this is the Executive Committee).

Read up on Cold Warriors Precinct Project and get some ideas on how to proceed when you run into obstacles the RINO Establishment throw up. Believe me they don’t want to give up the power to nominate the next John McCain or Bob Dole so they will make it difficult for you. That’s why you take your liked minded conservative-noun friends, neighbors, church fellows, and anybody else you can drag along because there is safety in numbers and you will need numbers!

Then write a Diary and tell us about your experience at your monthly meetings. Believe me, if the current RINO Establishment types are in charge, it will be very interesting reading. Let us know what you are doing to give the GOP a TEA Party “Enema”! Only YOU can “clean out” a rotten system! Let the TEA Party ”Enema” of the GOP begin!!!

Our Federal Republic began with just four Federal Departments. Anything else was left to the individual States to worry about. The Four Departments and their Secretaries where:

State, Thomas Jefferson, Secretary
Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, Secretary
War, Henry Knox, Secretary
Post Office, Benjamin Franklin, Post Master General (responsible for Transportation, i,e, Post Roads)

Thats IT! That’s all we need, except for the Post Office! We don’t need that anymore, private enterprise can do it better and cheaper!

So, here is where we can begin budget cutting up to $1.866 Trillion in the next Federal Budget. These numbers from the 2010 Federal Budget.

$78.7 billion (?1.7%) – Department of Health and Human Services. This should go back to the individual States where it belongs. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT!

$72.5 billion (+2.8%) – Department of Transportation. This was in the Post Office Department i.e. Post Roads in the First Federal Government but as our Republic has evolved should now be the provenence of the individual States. CUT!CUT! CUT!

$47.5 billion (+18.5%) – Department of Housing and Urban Development. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT!

$46.7 billion (+12.8%) – Department of Education. This should go back to the individual States where it belongs. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT!

$42.7 billion (+1.2%) – Department of Homeland Security. If there was EVER a waste of funds, this is it! Important parts to the Department of Justice (i.e. The FBI) or Department of Defence.

$26.3 billion (?0.4%) – Department of Energy. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT! Nuclear stuff to department of Defence.

$26.0 billion (+8.8%) – Department of Agriculture. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT! If individual Staes feel they must “help” their farmers, then let them.

$18.7 billion (+5.1%) – National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT! Let private enterprise explore space if they feel there is a profit motive in it.

$13.8 billion (+48.4%) – Department of Commerce. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT! Let State Department handle any “important” areas that need to be covered.

$13.3 billion (+4.7%) – Department of Labor. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT!

$12.0 billion (+6.2%) – Department of the Interior. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT! SELL OFF Federal lands or give to individual States.

$10.5 billion (+34.6%) – Environmental Protection Agency. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT! Let individual States handle how they keep their State clean.

$7.0 billion (+1.4%) – National Science Foundation. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT!

$5.1 billion (?3.8%) – Corps of Engineers. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT! Transfer back toMilitary, the Military functions, then let individual States handle anything else.

$5.0 billion (+100%) – National Infrastructure Bank. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT!

$1.1 billion (+22.2%) – Corporation for National and Community Service. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT!

$0.7 billion (0.0%) – Small Business Administration. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT!

$19.8 billion (+3.7%) – Other Agencies. WHAT IS THIS??? CUT!CUT! CUT!

$105 billion – Other. WHAT IS THIS??? CUT!CUT! CUT!

$571 billion (?15.2%) – Other mandatory programs. Are these in the Constitution? If not, CUT!CUT! CUT! Individual States can decide what is best for the taxpayers of that State.

$453 billion (+6.6%) – Medicare. Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT! Individual States can decide what is best for the taxpayers of that State.

$290 billion (+12.0%) – Medicaid . Where is this in the Constitution? CUT!CUT! CUT! Individual States can decide what is best for the taxpayers of that State.

Once we turn these programs over to the individual States and get the Federal Government OUT of areas they have no Constitutional business being in, then we can “negotiate” from there….
