Murder In Chicago vs. Henry Gates: The Silence and The Fury from the White House

You might recall the NObama moment when he decided to interfere in the arrest of Henry Gates, his professor friend who was arrested for bad-mouthing a policeman, when a neighbor thought that somebody was breaking into Gates’ house.  It turned out that Gates himself had broken into his house because he had lost his keys.  Gates over-reacted when the police arrived, and went into racial hyperdrive about the misunderstanding.

NObama decided that this was the moment to call the policeman “stupid” and to pontificate about Race In America.  For over a week this incident dominated the press, ending with a “Beer Summit” at the White House.

Contrast the opening of NObama’s mouth in this incident to its lockjawed silence this past week on the murder of an Afro-American honor student named Derrion Albert in NObama’s base of Chicago.  Would this not be the “bully-pulpit” moment for the most successful Afro-American in our history to address black-on-black violence?  To address the idiocy of gang warfare?  To condemn the murderers for taking the life of a young man with great potential for the future and ruining the lives of his family members?

Even the liberal Juan Williams on Fox News was outraged by NObama’s silence.

But perhaps NObama has gotten used to Chicago’s Afro-American teenagers cannibalizing each other: I offer this from a Chicago Tribune article on the murder, from a woman describing teenagers’ reactions:

“First they cry,” she said. “But then they shake their heads and continue with their day, because it’s become so commonplace to them. It’s like, ‘Oh well, another bump on the road.’ They go on because it’s the only way they can deal with it.”

Now, Latiker wonders how she can possibly make room for Derrion’s headstone. Latiker created a memorial two years ago to honor the young people killed in Chicago. Each time a child is shot, stabbed or beaten to death, she adds a stone to the memorial wall.

“We have 163 stones right now, but we are 20, now 21, behind,” she said. “I thought, well, I hoped, I dreamed that there’d be more space on the wall than kids being killed.”

We see – and hear from his silence – that black-on-black crime is of no interest to NObama. He obviously was much more interested in trying to charm the Olympic Committee to choose Chicago for 2016 than in addressing the murder of Derrion Gates in that city.

Perhaps he also considers the murder of children in Chicago “commonplace” and of no interest?

and he BEGGED the Won to get involved and stated that if he could have beergate he could certainly address black on black crime. I have been amazed at the lack of leadership in the black community over the years. This AWFUL black on black crime has infested the black communities since the riots in the 60′s and on a smaller scale prior to the riots when blacks were fearful to have the police come into their neighborhoods when they were victims. Their problem now is that they DON’T want the police in their neighborhoods but they DON’T have a leader who will stand up and take it to them and Obama SHOULD be that One! He is the perfect example of a black man breaking the biggest glass ceiling in the country and if he does not address this horrible DISEASE he will be an all around FAILURE!

as he is to America in general. He looks at his skin color only when it can benefit him, not African-Americans. In fact, I believe he has a clear disdain for them as well as us.

Considering, he never truly lived the African American experience. He was raised by a white grandmother in Hawaii, and went to private schools, and pretty much lived amongst white well to do liberals. He has no real basis to address the true issues of the African American community.

More and more, I am starting to feel that he is just the puppet of George Soros, and other liberal elites, that if he even tried to address something like this, they would stop him and tell him he has got to address their BS first.

        • JadedByPolitics

He spent 20 years in the Black community which is more then he spent in HI so he REALLY should address this pressing and dire issue. I think he has contempt for all American’s but I don’t buy he has no attachment to the Black community. He while in college RAN with the black panthers and the most rabid of black groups to be a part of and then 20 years right in the thick of black Chicago politics so he really has no excuse at all other then he really doesn’t give a damn which is closer to the truth!

Just like his choice of Church, I personally don’t think he had any real beliefs other than that was the church to propel him to the next political level.

is NOT the Republican Party, but his silence in general on the persistence of poverty and crime in Afro-American areas, and what the communities need to do: co-operate with the police to cut crime, show personal responsibility to one’s children, re-establish the idea that a family needs a father as well as a mother in a monogamous marriage, and spread the news that welfare payments and drug dealing are not career choices.

Instead, there is no leadership from NObama for the American Black Community, except to continue the victimhood, which has been shown to be a disaster. How many billions of dollars have been thrown at e.g. Detroit since the riots 40 years ago? What has that money bought?

It has bought the creation of one of the worst cities on the planet, not just in America.

If I remember my Mafia history right, what they would do in their neighborhoods was if someone was doing something that brought the standard of living in their neighborhood down, you found that person hanging from a lamppost.

If I don’t trust the police, I think that is the next best option. I totally believe (and again this is coming from a black person), that if we did more of that, the cops would not feel like they were walking into a war zone every time the went into an inner city area.

is that it’s racist to target black perps. The left couldn’t care less about the black victims, esp since they blame black on black crime on racism.

      • Ausonius

is the contradiction that if the bureaucrats are successful in eliminating poverty and – according to their theory its attendant crime – then they are unemployed!

One can see therefore that it is in their interest NOT to solve the problems of poverty and crime: in fact, if they can perpetuate it through liberalism’s dependency agenda, then their numbers grow, and bureaucrats in the game early rise to become high-level bureaucrats with 17 words in their titles: “Assistant Supervisor to the Second Consulate General of the Deputy Undersecretary for Economic Affairs in Eastern States.”

        Sounds important! :)

on the head. But not only poverty pimps and leftist bureaucrats would lose out, the Dems would stand to lose ALL their ability to elect anyone to office.

That is, without black folks voting as a solid block, they couldn’t elect the reincarnation of FDR. Thus, “…liberalism

          • bk

involves keeping poor blacks uneducated so that they can’t figure out what the rest of us find so obvious.

          • Warrior

to vouchers (or any other kind of authentic education reform), the Dems are almost assured of a core, inner city group of angry blacks without the wherewithall to figure out they are being played

Hollywood helps, probably inadvertantly since they are in it for the money, by glorifying the gang experience, i.e. gangsta rap, grills, cribs, ho’s, pimps, bling, etc., ad nauseum

White limousine liberals and the professional civil rights leadership probably think of young, inner city blacks who experience insanely high rates of incarceration and murder as martyrs, if they think of them at all.

Like I’ve said repeatedly, these poor kids are being used as an unending, albeit artificial symbol of “racism” and as specious “evidence” to the unsophisticated that “the system” or “the Man” is set against them and they therefore need an equally unending supply of gubmint “help” in the form of welfare state entiltlements.

Simply put, they are being sacrificed as political pawns to keep a certain set of socialist elites in power. Of course, with Obeyme as Prez, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to blame “the Man” for the woes of the black underclass, since “the Man” is now black himself.

but the Daley administration warned the local Fox affiliate not to run any further stories on the murder because it might influence the Olympic bid negatively. The story only was run on Fox Chicago once, and once only.

And yes, I was infuriated by the way the 2 stories this week were downplayed. Wonder how much the murder of one and the beating of another did filter out to the IOC?

The other thing I noticed is that the weapons were not weapons of mass destruction, but that is how one of the poverty pimps spun the story. How long do we have to wait for the supremes to review the Chicago gun ban.

  • bk

I thought you were going to say how long do we have to wait for Chicago to implement a ban on pieces of wood.

  • DavidS1787

The IOC surely heard this info over the Cable Stations…….

Plus the Other Crime Story they didn’t mention

Slayings of U. of I. student, cousin devastate family .

The Mayor thinks he can controll the press because he could tell his good old pal in the White House Barack Obama to have the FCC to pull the tv stations licenses that didn’t heed his warning.
