What scares me is the mind-set of people “schooled” by the leftists in charge of our public and in some cases private educational systems. We know that a good number believe in higher gas prices, believe in confiscatory taxation, believe in class warfare against the productive and creative people, and believe in greater government interference in American life.

The political mathematics which we see leading to BIG BRObama’s defeat is either incomprehensible to them, or they view it as irrelevant.

What gives me some hope is that people can change, but they need to have eyes that see and ears that hear.

Actually I invite abuse [and receive regular amounts] as a teaching aid. The best teacher is always reality, in any form.
But that’s just me…..

We all have 30 to 40 years of experience, are all in private schools (mainly Catholic, which makes the summary of our stories more disconcerting), and have in the last days undergone the following:

The children involved are snobs, passive-aggressive, lazy, and very entitled, because their parents are not in control.

The mothers are dressed in designer clothes displaying more Ponderosa in the north 40 than Lorne Greene ever owned, and are nervous wrecks, while the fathers are obese, disengaged, staring at the ceiling, or arguing with the mother/ex-wife.

The generic child in question has 110 I.Q. and no “learning disabilities” as proven by a battery of tests demanded by the parents in the hope that a learning disability will be found and lead to a magic pill to cure everything.

Generic Mother: “Your school is TOO challenging! I want a challenging school but this is ridiculous! I end up doing the homework because THERE”S JUST TOO MUCH! 6 Hours a night! I don’t know why he/she can’t be given an A for getting most of the homework done! And the tests aren’t testing what he/she has studied! THEY AREN”T FAIR!”

Generic Father: “Yup.”

Okay, here is the problem: none of this true! The mother ends up doing “6 hours of homework” (in fact it is 90 minutes at the most for junior high) because her child has won the battle of wills. One of the mothers admitted to doing a Science Fair Project completely (!!!) because the daughter refused to lift one finger for it.

So the parents cheat for their children, openly, because Life is too hard, too unfair, etc. The parents berate teachers for fantasy amounts of homework and want their child to be “given” a grade that is unearned, a grade based on going through the motions, even motions not provided by the student!

So I was thinking of my weekend essay here: checklist time!

Gimme a grade – Entitlement – Check!
It’s too hard and isn’t fair – Fairness – Check!
Cheating isn’t really cheating with an excuse – Voter Fraud – Check!
Seemingly educated, but the student is hollow – OBAMA – Check!

Stir ingredients together and serve to lapert. May add mustard and relish if desired.

Anyway, you gave an interesting perspective. Personally, I don’t think we can afford to leave any stone unturned as far as looking at how we have gotten in this mess in our country — but lapet’s rage is so palpable that it repels me and makes rational discussion impossible. I guess this is our side’s version of a tyrant — and it’s their way or no way. But I can think of lots of alternatives to EMTALA that would work way better. And that is about all I was trying to say when lapert flew into his rage. Wow.

Don’t want to go into detail now but I just wanted to say something kind to you as you have always been that way with me. And I am sorry you had to view all of this. I am still learning how to deal with monsters on political blogs and sometimes I vacillate between ignoring them and defending my honor.

But I find this labeling of incremental purity standards really tiresome, and counterproductive. Being a conservative means you do not know enough,and strive to always keep looking. Building straw men and women is practised by our differing opponents, and illustrates Rediculosity(sic?) in large amounts.

Please, just look for 60-75% agreement and work to understand the rest. We need a meeting place, not an echo chamber.Thank you for your indulgence, and this writer’s ramble.
