MA is a state with a tradition of liberalism and Romney had to tack left to govern there. That may damage him and suppress the vote from the Republican Base, a large plurality of the voiting public. This is essentially the only path to victory for the President, as he will not get the votes from Moderates he got in 2008. Can he keep enough Conservatives home and keep enough Moderates in his column to eeeeeekkkkkk out a victory in November? Time will tell.
