I’ve been looking at Ohio election results from ’04, ’08 and ’10. While I’m certainly not a pollster, statistician, etc. there are some things that are clear. In 2010, the turnout was still 49% across the state compared to 2008s 71% (registered voter numbers actually went DOWN ALMOST 250,000). While there were about 70,000 more votes in 2008 than in 2004, about 60,000 of those votes went to THIRD PARTY CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENT. 10,000 more people voted for Obama than voted for Bush in ’04 if I remember correctly. McCain got about the same amount of votes that Kerry did.

I just don’t see Obama getting those totals again (especially losing Independents to Romney by such wide margins). But, I think Romney enthusiasm is sky high.

In 2010, while the vote for governor was close (Kasich won by less than 2% points), the race for Senate was NOT close (Portman beat Fisher 57-39).

I think there is a lot of momentum that the polls are not getting.
