How about a Glenn Beck-Mark Levin moderated Texas debate to that Texas winner-take-all?

“Texas has a lot of electrical votes” (Yogi Berra?)The Lone Star State Dictionary (barrypopik.com)

How about a Glenn Beck-Mark Levin moderated Republican debate to that Texas winner-take-all?

This is the third post to attempt at least some relevance for Texas Republicans after Tuesday’s widespread declarations that the race is over. See:

1. I’m a Republican in Texas and I’d like to cast a meaningful vote in a presidential primary
2. BREAKING NEWS: Texas primary moves to winner-take-all?

Here’s the upcoming debate schedule, from 2012 Election Central:

There are no more Republican primary debates scheduled for 2012.

That’s great–no debate for Texas! We’re the biggest Republican state, and we don’t get anything?

On December 20, 2011, in Des Moines, Iowa, there was an ABC News debate.

On January 7, 2012, in Manchester, New Hampshire, there was another ABC News debate.

On January 8, 2012, in Concord, New Hampshire, there was an NBC News debate. That’s right–TWO debates for New Hampshire, ZERO debates for Texas!

On January 19, 2012, in Charleston, South Carolina, there was a CNN debate.

On January 23, 2012, in Tampa, Florida, There was a Tampa Bay Times-NBC News debate.

On January 26, 2012, in Jacksonville, Florida, there was a CNN debate.

On February 22, 2012, in Mesa, Arizona, there was a CNN debate.

There are a few Fox News/Huckabee events on the list, but basically, we’ve had debates controlled by CNN, ABC News and NBC News.

Glenn Beck is located in Texas. He has a popular national radio show and GBTV.

Mark Levin has a popular national radio show and is a bestselling author.

It’s often asked why MSM hacks control our debates, but not some of our leading conservative voices.

Mitt Romney has been invited, but he’s not yet accepted, an open invitation to talk with Mark Levin on his radio show. This is simply amazing to me for a supposedly inevitable Republican candidate for president.

SUMMARY
A conservative debate is a free advertisement for conservatism. Texas deserves a debate.

If you don’t think Glenn Beck and Mark Levin could do a good job, suggest others. Please send this suggestion to Glenn Beck and Mark Levin, if you can.

All I’m saying in these three posts is that Texas Republicans deserve meaningful participation in the selection of the Republican nomination for president.

They fear him too much in that format otherwise.

On May 29th there will be a primary debate.

Gingrich, Santorum, and Paul have all agreed to participate. The only one that hasn’t signed up is Mitt Romney.

    • gracie

But you are right, all but Romney have agreed to come!
If all four agree it will be televised per the Repub Party of Texas:

      http://www.texasgop.org/posts/253-gingrich-paul-santorum-accept-texas-gop-debate-invit

Thanks to barrypopik for trying to make our vote count here in Texas!! Someone is listening! Our primary was to have been on Super Tues as all of you know. It was delayed due to the Dems challenging our districting; why should we be irrelevant due to them?

And to those of you who do not want another debate I would say this: Yes I do think there is more to be learned since the last debates. Serious issues have come up that need to be addressed.

And lastly, if we are to accept Romney why not have him answer more specifics on his plans whether it be Obamacare, tax, spending ,even foreign issues. I for one think he was rather vague and general in previous debates and would welcome the opportunity to learn more about his plans now that he is the presumptive nominee!

      What can it hurt?

that Texas republicans deserve a debate, but you are expressing those thoughts in the wrong forum.

It is not some magical group that decides what states get debates nor is the “establishment” behind some skilled conspiracy to deny Texas what they want. The group responsible for Texas having or not having a debate is your own states party and citizens. If Texas wants a debate and you think it is important, contact the Texas leaders in each county and demand a debate. Writing here will not do a thing to help you get what you want.

to be a moderator in any debate? Surely you jest. Beck is very much so a part of the absolute purity of the candidate that he would choose. Don’t know who he is pushing recently, but I do remember he was looking for his idea of a pure candidate when I was still listening to him, that was a whole long time ago. Beck hasn’t even figured out who he is yet, he cannot be the arbiter of who our candidate is.

After all the gazillions of debates we’ve had already, do you really think another debate at this time is going to change anything at all? The only one who needs debates to try to keep his candidacy on life support is Gingrich. After all his great debates, he is polling lower than even Paul at this point.

Gingrich has had much good to say, and he has brought up some very good points. He would be much more effective if he found another venue to speak his mind rather as a presidential candidate. He is wasting his talent, destroying his reputation, and acting as a female that was never invited to the prom with his insistence on staying in the race. The other option is that he is helping Romney by continuing to split the conservative vote. I go for Romney helping to pay off his campaign debt by staying in the race to keep splitting the vote. I would have given a lot to have been a fly on the wall when he met with Romney in Romney’s hotel room on the day of the LA primary. Gee, Gingrich isn’t having such a hard problem since then.

when he was invited as the keynote speaker a couple years ago, didn’t he say the Republican party was just as bad as the Democrats? Not a well received speech by Republican standards, or even CPAC standards.

  • mikeymike143

i think he is an excellent choice to moderate the debate.

    • mikeymike143

i say lets reward long time conservative icon rush limbaugh and team him with mark levin as the other moderator.
