Rand Paul’s Plans for 2011

Download Podcast | iTunes | Podcast Feed

Today Coffee and Markets is proud to be joined by Senator-elect Rand Paul of Kentucky.

The new year will bring with it a new House and Senate, one populated with several members whose approach to the job stands to be a unique departure from politics as usual. Foremost among these is Paul, the Kentucky eye doctor who won a contentious primary over a handpicked Republican candidate, and whose first elected political office will be that of United States Senator. How will being in the Senate effect Paul’s anti-establishment approach? What does he think of former rival Mitch McConnell’s leadership during a contentious the lame duck session? And what are his priorities for the next two years? We’ll hear the answers to those questions from Senator elect Paul today.

We’re brought to you as always by Stephen Clouse and Associates. You can find our iTunes feed at CoffeeandMarkets.com. If you’d like to email us, you can do so at coffee[at]newledger.com. We hope you enjoy the show.

I am a fan of Rand Paul……as long as he keeps a big distance from his father’s extremes (IE everything but Fed views)

I think he had good answers and articulated them well. I would however, like to see firm ACTIONS followed up by what he speaks. I believe he will.

I also believe that it is time for the new Senate blood, and all in the Senate who consider themselves truly Conservative, to be more confrontive of McConnell and the pragmatic Senate core. Most are still being a little too polite with respect to the Old Guard GOP.

McConnell and the Old Guard Senate didnt just cave to the Dems a little in the last month. They caved in a massive amount, and arguably on purpose. The amount that McConnell and the Old Guard GOP Senate caved spoke volumes about their true intentions (none of which were good.)

I want to see the new blood pressing against the pragmatic bunch extensively and repeatedly right now, even if it makes it more than a little uncomfortable and awkward for them as newbies.

Too much is at stake to allow things to take their time to evolve. We cant afford to wait.

How about no more links to videos and Podcasts without a transcript or some written discussion.

Yes, I am selfish and want to cruise through the news at my pace and not be stopped to look or listen to something that frequently turns out to be a waste of time.

Even when there is good information most of the time it is quicker to read a post than go with all this newfangled stuff.
