that many people have that raising the retirement age will leave people with only 2 years to enjoy retirement. If one is fortunate enough to live to retirement, chances are 50/50 that you will continue to live another 10 years.

In order to have a chance to realize the "compassionate entitlements" that you hope for, people are going to have to work longer thereby shortening the average retirement by a couple of years. Otherwise, you will reach retirement and find nothing waiting for you.

Government waste and a lack of accountability is a big problem and it is important to make people aware of these types of discrepencies. But do not think this is a problem unique to the Obama administration. Let us not forget the $9+ billion unaccounted for in Iraq. I am sure you could find these types of waste and inefficiency in every previous administration.

Investments should be made in better accounting software and more financial audits. My understanding is that we save about $10 for every $1 spent on auditors/watchdog groups.

I think it is well past time to acknowledge that the current administration and the current lawmakers are entirely unable to reform themselves, despite the new lawmakers.

I feel that the party Republicans have successfully dealt any recent attempts at reform, fatal blows.

While I was pleased with Rand Paul's budget cut proposal, and think it is the only way to go, I think he has also fallen prey to the party Republicans long goal to gut and cut Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid.

Advocating cutting these entitlements will stop him in his tracks, totally. You can't raise the retirement age to 2 years before the average age of death. It makes no sense. And people are way too scared of the government now to give up their entitlements. Rightly so... It won't happen.

But the party Republicans know this FULL WELL. They are shoving this agenda into the budget conversation, by force. These are the same idiots that insist that the conservatives take over the role of administering people's private lives. The same idiots that encourage unfounded wars, to stir up hate, to encourage more wars. They know what they are doing and they are destroying the new conservative movement. Its a total trap.

And besides, its BAD government. While I am a firm believer that the state has grown way too large, Laissez-faire economics also leads to anarchy. It never reduces monopolies, it leads to them. And slavery.

Why do the newly elected conservatives act like the leftist government are the only ones not listening to the people? With regard to entitlements, they are doing the same thing.

I'm sorry about the new conservatives. I had really high hopes for Rand Paul. But this is the way to stop the whole thing completely, which is what the globalists want. If he is that dumb....

A stripped-down government, with compassionate entitlements is what really scares the globalists, and is the winning combo. Until then, the new movement will RIP.

Nowhere in the Constitution is The President charged with preparing budgets or creating appropriations. The President's Budget is a fictitious "suggestion" required by Congress only since 1921.

The President's Budget is most often declared "dead on arrival," and Congress (whose Constitutional job it is), not The Executive, passes whatever appropriations and taxes it feels like. Congress, not The President, is charged with

Article I, Section 7:

All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

Article 1, Section 8:

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

The Budget and Accounting Act of 1921 is a good read. It is worthwhile to note that OMB (established in the Act as the Bureau of the Budget) has not certified the Federal budget (and appropriations) since 1996 ... it can't pass an audit.

Article I, Section 8 of The Constitution is also a good read. Draw your own conclusions: is Congress doing its job?

Or since we can't prove what's in the old accounts, let's start fresh with new accounts and current funding.

Or are the limbo funds part of a retirement program for people yet to be named......

Idiots. I have to balance to the penny on my accounts when I close every month.

The entire fed govt uses cost accounting...... either it is spent, or it is not. They do NOT use accrual accounting to see what has been 'committed'. On top of totally outdated systems, there is little ability to track actual costs with any meaningful management and analysis. They can't analyze over-runs and they can't see obvious fraud. It is more horrifying and pitiful than you can even imagine.
