even though I think it is possible that people could go overboard with their concerns about this issue…I don’t think it should be just swept under the rug either.

If you take the time to study what the Office of Sustainability actually does, in regards to both current and future initiatives, it does present a threat to citizens where devaluation of property is concerned. Based on the events that have taken place under the “smart growth” program in SC, it also provides government with a legal basis to confiscate property for the purpose of “preservation”.

It deserves a lot more notice than just sweeping it under the rug or writing it off as nothing more than a conspiracy theory.

Here in Louisiana there was pressure from “Agenda 21″ crowd (all big Glenn Beck followers) to stop school reform agenda most of them had attended seminars on this. Conservative GOP state house members from these areas voted against reform due pressure from constituency.

They see anything by government as “Agenda 21″

Three years ago, I probably would have thought that it sounded like a conspiracy theory type of idea myself. But that was before I really started understanding how the left works. They present an idea as being a "good thing" and that they are doing "what is best for society as a whole". That's just a smoke screen. They always have an agenda of some sort going on behind the scenes. It's seeing and understanding the agenda that we don't always look at. If people knew how much money our government has been funneling into this particular initiative...whether it is through HUD or the EPA or several other programs, they'd be stunned. I had written a previous diary about this topic, and it included a video by a Democrat legislator in SC (and no, he wasn't supporting it). I'm going to include it again, just to give a people an idea of how this works.

I can see how people who haven’t researched it would think it sounds conspiratorial because it sounds wild on the surface. But, I have done a lot of research because my city and county are dues paying members of ICLEI and so many of the local Tea Party groups are very informed. They have made inroads here in California’s local and state government and it is creepy the ways they infiltrate and amass power and control. Like most leftist agenda’s, they operate stealthily and are very busy trying to steal our liberties out from under us in the guise of environmentalism.

could you put a follow-up diary on RS and let us know how this goes, please?

For right now, a lot of people still think that the talk about Agenda21 falls in the realm of “conspiracy theories”. I don’t, but that’s because I’ve had the opportunity to do some research on the ICLEI, Office of Sustainability initiatives, etc. Also, there was (and may still be as far as I know) a situation in SC where Dem legislators in a county had made the decision to go with the “smart growth” economic development plan that ICLEI promotes. The one that mandates “urban limits”, decreases properties values outside the “urban boundaries”, deprives property owners of various rights if they live outside these “urban boundaries”, etc.

This a subject matter that still isn’t well understood for the most part. I hope that there will be people in Kansas who will read your announcement and attend the meetings. But it would be helpful to get feedback on how people are responding to it, if you could.
