By: Benjamin Hodge (Diary) | May 1st at 05:15 AM |
I’m pleased to introduce KansasReform.com, our new Web site for the Kansans for Reform of State and Local Government PAC, or, for short, Kansans for Government Reform. My introductory words on the front page: Thank you for visiting. After witnessing waste within the state government, and after fighting and winning over corruption at Johnson County Community College under Presidents Charles Carlsen and Terry Calaway, I formed | Read More »

Brownback continues his close ties to — no, promotion of — provably corrupt Kansas City banker. Campaign won’t comment.

This past Saturday in Overland Park, the Kansas Republican Party held its bi-annual meeting with committee members. I am one of about 150 state delegates. We approved what long-time conservative mover Tim Golba called the best state party platform he’d ever seen, and I’m very pleased with this development. At the meeting, I distributed the attached document to my fellow committee members, highlighting the point | Read More »
Hodge’s speech at Libertarian Party meeting in Overland Park, Kansas
By: Benjamin Hodge (Diary) | April 24th at 05:53 PM |
I appreciate the invitation to speak from Jeff Caldwell, the 3rd District coordinator for the Kansas Libertarian Party. This month at the Blue Valley Library at 151st St. and Antioch, Amanda Grosserode and I spoke at the Libertarian Party’s monthly meeting. Here is a 10-minute edited version of my speech, in which I address the libertarian roots of conservatism (and Republicanism), the non-libertarian actions of | Read More »
NPR interview with Ben Hodge, Amanda Grosserode, Daniel Gilyeat on KC Tea Parties. KCUR, 89.3 FM.
By: Benjamin Hodge (Diary) | April 19th at 08:34 PM |
On KCUR/NPR 89.3 FM. This aired on Tax/Tea Day, on Thursday, April 15, 2010. The reporter was Laura Ziegler. Click here to “watch” the audio of NPR’s Tea Party interview at YouTube’s site, along with a slideshow of pictures from the 2009 and 2010 Tea Parties. To clarify two things from the interview: I’m described as a libertarian. That’s not incorrect, but “conservative” is probably more | Read More »
KS-01: Texas Gov. Rick Perry endorses Tim Huelskamp
By: Benjamin Hodge (Diary) | April 16th at 03:58 PM |
As far as I can tell, Kansas’ future Governor Sam Brownback is doing what he can to move the Kansas Republican Party to the left. I wouldn’t know for sure, because his campaign’s strategery includes the decision to refuse to communicate with many conservatives; oddly, he’s simultaneously reaching out to the far left, as he has at least one provably-corrupt ex-banker on his steering committee | Read More »

Moody’s Investors Service Downgrades Kansas, from “Stable” to “Negative”
By: Benjamin Hodge (Diary) | March 24th at 06:26 PM |
Kansas Republican Representative Joe Patton: Alert! Moody’s Investors Service considered the Kansas government stable. No longer. Moody’s just lowered their rating to “negative”. The negative outlook applies to approximately $1.5 billion of outstanding debt. The reason, in part: the dramatic increase in education funding forced by the Supreme Court. The report says, “Education funding increase legislation was enacted in connection with the state’s Montoy v. | Read More »
Another Sam Brownback campaign co-chair attacks citizen, this time a Catholic leader
By: Benjamin Hodge (Diary) | March 18th at 05:12 PM |
A well-known Kansas City young-adults leader for the Catholic Church was recently attacked by the city government that is overseen by Brownback committee member and Overland Park Mayor Carl Gerlach. I’ve Emailed Gerlach, and only his city attorney replied to me. The city attorney merely reassured me that no law was broken, and he did not even attempt to dispute the accuracy of what I | Read More »
Recession? Kansas college adds 80 administrators. Appropriately, board chair is named Jon Stewart.
By: Benjamin Hodge (Diary) | March 16th at 05:11 PM |
My most recent political Email (click to view a more reader-friendly format, with pictures): Tuesday, March 16, 2010 Promise of “hiring freeze” broken: Eighty (80) new administrators at Johnson County Community College In the real world, Americans are suffering. At the largest Kansas college, it’s a liberal utopia. JCCC leaders sell out taxpayers to win favor with the KNEA teachers union, adding 80 new first-time administrative | Read More »
Sam Brownback’s campaign team now willing to attack major conservative news organizations
By: Benjamin Hodge (Diary) | March 15th at 06:46 PM |
Sam Brownback cannot be taken seriously while ex-banker Lynn Mitchelson remains a campaign co-chair. Some questions for future Kansas Governor Sam Brownback: Why did you choose a provably corrupt public official to be a campaign co-chair? Why is part of your campaign team giving a no-bid legal contract to the Democratic Party Chairman’s law firm, at the largest Kansas college, and when the college’s lawyer | Read More »
