The Idiocracy Comes To Milwaukee

(Via Ace Of Spades) The Milwaukee County Board, that is:

Oh, she saids she misspoke, but then she said something even more dumb:

“I did get a passing grade in Geography in high school and in college and I do obviously know that Arizona is on the border,” West said in an interview after today’s meeting.

West claims that the point she was trying to make is that because Texas has a much larger border with Mexico, she might feel differently about such a law in that state. “Had Texas come out with the legislation, having the largest border, I think that I would be more receptive to the fact that there was a problem. But having it be Arizona, having it be the second largest boarder and knowing there are troops on the border in Arizona, it didn’t seem to me that this legislation was particularly necessary at this moment in time,” West said.

Ok, help me out here. Logic clearly fails either Peggy West* or me. It would have been ok to pass SB1070 in Texas and not Arizona?

I think she’d be upset if it passed in either state, Peggy West is just making excuses or just doesn’t know what she is talking about. Making one dumb comment to explain the first dumb comment, does not make the first comment less dumb**.

*Now, no need to cause trouble. This is a public site that I easily found. I’m just making it easy for you to find it.

**Or something like that… Shut-up! I’m becoming dumb just talking about her!

This person obviously doesn’t know that Arizona – per populous – has a way bigger problem than Texas. We still get to shoot strangers on our land here and call the cops later!

Hard to believe this is an elected official. I’m so proud to be from Milwaukee.
There is also a boycott of AZ coming from the Milwaukee Area Technical College. Yes the Technical College Board. Shouldn’t they be governing the faltering college and not trying to change immigration policy?

    This is what she said:

“If this was Texas, which is a state that is directly on the border with Mexico, and they were calling for a measure like this saying that they had a major issue with undocumented people flooding their borders, I would have to look twice at this. But this is a state that is a ways removed from the border,” West said during debate.

Her “clarification” is ridiculous. Ten to one she is one of the many who thinks New Mexico is part of Mexico. I’m sure you’ve met them: Place an order by phone, give your address as NM, and you’re told that the company does not ship outside the U.S. Happens far too often.

The fact that this woman has “Supervisor” in her title is truly frightening.

It never left there……..It was born there! The City and County governments in Milwaukee and Milwaukee County are flush with career politicians who do nothing but point blame at the right and offer no clear cut solutions for a better Milwaukee. One good solution-Reduce the size of the Common Council from 15 to 5 and do the same with the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors and you might be able to fund more law enforcement, or just lower a bursting tax rate.
