I Support Jamie Radtke (CAN-R-VA-SEN) In 2012

I know I normally keep myself to Florida issues, but this is too good to pass up. Former chairwoman of the Virginia Tea Party Patriot Federation has decided that it is time to retire Democrat Jim Webb.

(Via Stop The ACLU) Jamie Radtke has been the force behind the highly organized Tea Party in Richmond:

She says she’s never before seen the volume of ardent volunteers the tea party has attracted. To organize and unify them, the group holds monthly “Richmond Tea Party 101″ orientation sessions. The official volunteer handbook lays out in clear language its five values: constitutional adherence, limited government, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and virtue and accountability.

Honestly, who can argue against those five values? I can see it now, Jim Webb will have a horrible time combating them and his apparent record of being Obama and Reid’s rubber stamp. Senator Webb has also thrown out any pretence of being a conservative in his four short years in DC, in which Ms Radtke will attack:

“I would take issue with Sen. Webb being conservative,” Radtke told the Fox Business Network Wednesday. “He voted for the bank bailouts. He voted for stimulus. He voted for ObamaCare.

“I mean, he has been right there along the side of Harry Reid and President Obama and has really helped engineer the mess that we’re in. We’ve got to get out of the mess.”

Why is she running? The Wall Street Journal tells us why in her words:

In an interview, Ms. Radtke said she decided to run after watching Congress pass legislation during this month’s lame duck session, including a package of tax cuts, that added to the national debt.

“It has become clear that many in Congress still don’t get it,” she said. “The tax bill did nothing to cut the huge debt burden on all of us.”

Former Senator George Allen may run again and he has every right to run. However, fairly or unfairly, he has some baggage that might hurt him in the general election. Allen has a great conservative record and I will support him if he wins the primary. But I’m throwing my (admittedly limited) weight to Jamie Radtke. @jamieradtke

Is it because she was a head of the Richmond Tea Party Federation? That big even she organized last summer in Richmond was mostly attended by Ron Paul fans. The Tea Party Patriots were the one time named Campaign4Liberty, the Ron Paul organization. They had to change their name and image because Ron Paul, and many of his most ardent supporters were toxic.

Jamie Radtke has a very very light resume. I don’t know if you read the diary that was posted here on Dec.28, when she made her announcement. If not, it would be worth your time to read it, and, particularly the comments section. I did some research on her back then, and posted what I found in the comments section. Please read it, and decide if you still want to back her, which of course is your choice.

One of the things to think about is the fact that after she left Allen’s employ, and, I don’t know if she quit or was let go, she went right out and joined up with someone who was one of Allen’s biggest critics, and started working against him. Not illegal for sure, but, it would be nice to know why. That was before his maccaca (sp) moment.

There are at least 3-4 other names out there that may challenge Webb as well, including Allen. In fact it has been known for quite some time that Allen intended to challenge Webb again in a rematch. That is probably why she jumped the gun, and was the first Senate candidate to announce. Allen is still pretty popular here in VA, and, he has some very hefty support among some of the biggest names in the state. I am waiting to see who all is running, but, I already know that Radtke doesn’t have my support, and, I get to vote in the primary.

I respectfully ask if you would do a little more vetting of Jamie Radtke before sending her any of your hard earned dollars.

While its too early to say for sure who I will be supporting in the VA Senate Primary, since we don’t even know who’s running, certainly Jamie Radtke is the most impressive of the potential candidates that I know about so far. We need more Tea Party leaders in the US Senate, and this seat is a prime opportunity for a pickup, no question about that. Im open to hearing all the arguments from the other candidates, including George Allen, but right now I’m definitely leaning toward preferring a fresh face like Jamie’s, both because she’s more likely to be a reliable Conservative vote, and because Allen’s political baggage would seem to be a liability, thus making Radtke more likely to ultimately win the race. I do hope that however this race turns out, the race stays positive, and we can focus on the issues and holding Jim Webb accountable for his far-left voting record on issues like Obamacare. Just because we ‘should’ win this seat doesn’t mean we will, and attacking each other is the easiest way to avoid victory. Let’s stay positive, let’s win this seat, and I agree with the Diarist, as of right now my favorite is Tea Party Leader Jamie Radtke.

  • Change Jar Conservative

in a state like Virginia is her lack of experience.

I think that the biggest issue that we had in our loss in Nevada and Colorado was a lack of experience.

Experience, amongst other things, helps tamp down the level of perceived crazy.

I think 2014/2016 will be a great years for some of our 2010 tea-party congress critters to jump to the Senate.

unless running Tea Parties is now considered executive or any other kind of experience other than maybe community organizing, and, I think it is well known that the Ron Paul supporters are not hard to corral for their cause, and they were the majority at the Tea Party Convention Radtke held this summer. Ron Paul was an invited speaker.

Does anyone know where she stands on the issues other than smaller government and fiscal conservatism? I have searched high and low, and I have not been able to find anything. That seems to be the case with the Tea Party Patriots, they don’t address anything other than the fiscal side. To remain vague to mum on every other issue one can only lead one to assume they are avoiding the other issues because their positions would not be popular.

While it has been well known that George Allen would enter the race, there are no other declared candidates at this time. It’s easy to get behind Radtke at this time, as she is the only known candidate so far.
