Mike Haridopolos US Senate? Yeah, Not Happening

Mike Haridopolos is the current President of the Florida Senate and a Republican. There are wild rumors that he is trying to postion himself for a run for US Senate.

Yeah, no.

Haridopolos is preparing for a likely statewide campaign in 2012 against U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla. Dockery suggested Haridopolos is attempting to curry early favor with tea party activists, who could be an influential voting block in that campaign.

Why am I so against Haridopolos? Well, because he has lead the charge for SunRail:

Just a little over a year ago, Republicans [lead by Haridopolos] in lock-step endorsed Central Florida’s commuter-rail plans and rushed to get in line for federal stimulus dollars for a high-speed train that could shuttle people between Tampa and Orlando.

Now of course, after the 2010 election and wanting to run for the US Senate, Haridopolos is trying to back off SunRail. He’s now ready to cut every Republican throat in the Florida Legislature so he can win the DC jackpot.

Not on my watch.

My first choice for US Senate would be Jeb Bush. Then Colonel Mike McCalister.

In fact, I am going to see Colonel McCalister at a near-by North Lake Tea Party meeting and see him speak. This will take part in the early part of next month. I am hoping to meet him and get a video interview with him. Look out for that next month.

My instant reaction on seeing those words “Haridopolos For Senate” cannot be printed here, for the directive “Be respectful, or be banned. No Profanity” stands in force and agreeably so.

Therefore, I shall comment with my pledging to stand with and support a candidate who understands and practices the following: The state sovereignty of Florida is sacrosanct – as is the state sovereignty of ‘the several other states’ – and our home shall not become a playground for Totalitarian Jihadists of the Federal species.

I’m looking forward to learning more about Col. McCalister.

I also need to find out a little more about him. He looks pretty good so far.

Whoever we pick, that person needs to be a fire breathing dragon to ensure this state stays on the right track in 2012.

I doubt there’d be anything more painful for the Left than having two African Americans in the Senate i.e. Jennifer Carroll (R-FL) and Michael Williams (R-TX).

In 2014 I would love to see Tim Scott primary Lindsay Graham and be South Carolina’s US Senator.

If given that choice, I’ll take this guy over Mack every second of every day…

But, until others get into this race, right now, that’s the choice.

This “either/or” thing is a false choice. I have given you my first and second choice. But if you need a reminder:

I support Jeb Bush for US Senate. If he doesn’t run, I am incline to support Colonel Mike McCalister. After that, I will take them case-by-case.

other then touting his credentials, McCalister doesn’t really have anything to say. When asked by a Brevard county grassroots group what solutions had, his reply was a consistent “I don’t have any silver bullets”. It’s not enough to just NOT be Haridopolos. Potential candidates include Connie Mack, Adam Hasner and LeMieux.
