Glenn Beck TV?

Yes, YES!! A million times YES!!!

The possibility that Glenn Beck will exit the Fox News Channel at the end of the year has prompted a big question in media circles: if he leaves, how will he bring his considerable audience with him?

Two of the options Mr. Beck has contemplated, according to people who have spoken about it with him, are a partial or wholesale takeover of a cable channel, or an expansion of his subscription video service on the Web.

Reports this week that Joel Cheatwood, a senior Fox News executive, would soon join Mr. Beck’s growing media company, Mercury Radio Arts, were the latest indication that Mr. Beck intended to leave Fox, a unit of the News Corporation, when his contract expired at the end of this year.

Notably, Mr. Beck’s company has been staffing up – making Web shows, some of which have little or nothing to do with Mr. Beck, and charging a monthly subscription for access to the shows.

Were Mr. Beck to set off on his own, it would be a landmark moment for the media industry, reflecting a shift in the balance of power between media institutions and the personal brands of people they employ.

Wait, what about Oprah? Didn’t she start her own channel?

I have noticed that I don’t hardly use my TV remote control any more. I turn it on, park it on Fox News, and then do my work (whether to write or surf the internet). My mute button sees more action when I am watching a video online than the channel seletion numbers. I watch some prime-time shows, but not much.

But yeah, Glenn Beck TV will be more or less “Tea Party TV” and I think I would enjoy that a lot. Not necessarily political shows, but shows made-by and for conservatives. Finally, an answer to liberal late shows and SNL. Maybe a show where we get to see that not all church/US government/law enforement people are evil. A show where the good guys are good guys and the bad guys are bad guys.

I would also love to either start a show myself or be apart of a production. If I can be part of a show, I’d be more than willing to start at the bottom. I can dream, no?

Just musing…. They have to replace some of those folks there. It’s not GE TV anymore.

would be pretty cool. Anchor programs by Beck and conservatives, filled in by enthusiast/blogger/citizen journalism content.

Throw in ZeroHedge for financial reporting and you have a winner.

If I can recall something that Beck said on his radio program this week concerning reports of an SEIU bigwig basically outlining plans for an audience for a May 2011 “collapse the US economy” rally in NYC, he does at least require citizen journalists to do their jobs responsibly.  That means using accredited sources, covering all points of view, and making sure that the facts are correct.

Something I’ve put into practice when avoiding over 90% of the YouTube “vlog” links.  It’s far too easy for any schlub with a camera phone to just post a “See, I told you so!” video castigating his/her chosen scapegoat without any effort to get the other side of the story.  That’s what Beck wants his citizen journalists to avoid (much like when he admonishes Tea Party protestors not to respond to provocation from Leftist counter-protestors or radical thugs).

if he was going to run for POTUS in 2012. Part of his plan? Only time will tell. (media tweek of the day).
