This is not the year for Florida’s ballot amendments. First, Amendment 7 (dealing with redistricting) was stuck down on July 8th. Then Amendment 3 (dealing with limiting property tax increases) on July 23rd. And now Amendment 9 (dealing with health care freedom) has been struck down on July 29th. All these amendments were struck down because of wording, either title or summary or both.

Today is the last day to register to vote or change party affiliation for those who wish to cast a ballot in the August 24, 2010, primary election. Even as you read this and you are going to register as a Democrat, that’s fine. Voting is one of the most important things you can do as a citizen.

The FL-22 race has taken an interesting turn: U.S. Rep. Ron Klein is acknowledging the threat to his re-election from Republican Allen West and his challenger’s supporters in the tea party movement. He’s even attempting to use West’s tea party base – and the most prominent tea partier, Sarah Palin – as a way to fire up Democrats for his re-election campaign.
