I can’t say I was surprised by the way Charlie Gibson and ABC News frames the story this evening. The mayor of New York and The President Himself were both outraged by the event this morning, you see. Yes, and they actually also included in the SAME story that the White House issued an apology.

The ABC News Summary:
-The White House issued an apology.
-The president was outraged !!1
-It was the Military Office in the White House that approved the stunt.
-The president had leader of said office in for a meeting this afternoon, and boy was it not pleasant to be him!

President Obama of course did not know anything about it. And he sure let the responsible parties have it, too. Now just imagine if this were the Bush 43 White House….

A photoshoot like this would normally be done to produce photos to mark some kind of important anniversary. However, I can’t think of anything coming up….except for the conclusion of Obama’s first 100 days.

That leads on to a second question which is….who authorized this operation? This wasn’t some pilot’s idea. I would think this must have been the initiative of a senior Air Force general, or maybe somebody in the White House. Were any civilians onboard the plane at the time?

My opinion is that the White House probably wasn’t involved, but it is important that the right questions are asked.

The White House Military Office are the folks who screwed up the VH-71 Presidential helicopter program by adding so many gizmos to it that it had too much weight to get off the ground.

How ANYONE in NY City could let this go without fully alerting every media outlet, business and resident is absolutely abhorrent.

Every single person who knew about this and said nothing should be arrested for inciting a panic.

I took the day off. Golf in the morning on what was going to be a beautiful day. Then all the cell phones stated to ring at once.

Some people on the course grabbed their clubs and ran to their cars, and while on the run pinned their badges on, sidearms removed from their golf bags and instantly holstered to their waistbands, fully exposed. I heard that many of those remaining on the course simply stood and cried for awhile, then made their way home.

I was in NY at the time and went to “a few” funerals because of 9/11.
