Why the Post in Moe Lane's Post Grows On You!

If you haven't already gone to Moe Lane's REDHOT post do so now!

"This post grows on you, after a while"

Moe, I've seen that type of behavior in our older population firsthand. I remember talking to my mom and dad about their youth and their friends. I remember the look on their faces and the tremor in their voices. The memories of relatives and friends that were just memories, nothing else.

Want to see it for yourself? Ask your grandparents to talk about the people they knew as a kid. Then ask them where they are now. Ask anyone over the age of seventy to list the acquaintances of their youth who are still alive, watch their face and listen to the wistfulness in their voice!

Now look again, that could be your future!

The elderly gentleman in the story is living through the worst form of loneliness on the planet. Everyone he held near and dear is now gone. He's the last one, with him many memories will be lost forever.

Robert Heinlein had a character named "Lazarus Long" who lived an impossibly longlife. In one novel he said something to the effect that a long life was a curse because you had to watch everyone you love die.

Moe, the reason it grows on you is because you have a heart! Thank you, I pray you're not the only one here.

and yes, Moe is not the only one out there with a heart, many of us do, some are just bigger then others.
