ANWR Drilling Despisers Hezbo-Dem Dingell and Dem Party Love Old Well Oil Only?

From the envy-party 's we've got a chance to pass more regulations and maybe put some successful capitalists out of business file or, the I can get on TV and fool my constituents into thinking I care about the price they pay for oil file or the lets protect dirt from being soiled by oil spilling from a pipeline since we failed in preventing this oil from being drilled for in the first place.

al reuters reports (responsibly sans pictures):

Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives on Monday called on the U.S. Congress to hold hearings into BP's operations in Alaska following a second oil pipeline rupture at its Prudhoe Bay operations over the weekend that will shut the 400,000 barrel-a-day oilfield. "It is appalling that BP let this critical pipeline deteriorate to the point that a major production shutdown was necessary," said Rep. John Dingell, the top-ranking Democrat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, in a statement. "The United States Congress has an obligation to hold hearings to determine what broke down here and what laws and regulations need to be improved to ensure problem pipelines like these are found and fixed earlier," Dingell said.

Well, if we don't need to drill for oil, why not shut some oil fields down. Why not? What is so perfect about the number of wells we have now?

The democrat party has prevented new oil drilling off the coasts and in Alaska since 1978!! either when they controlled congress or the White House or thru senate filibusters until this year, when the repubs finally were able to put it in a bill they couldn't veto.

Let's investigate the Dems about all the oil we don't have thanks to them. Well, I guess they have been investigated...by the American people that have removed them from power since 1994.

Because the Dems are worried about Alaskan pipelines deteriorating, rupturing, and spilling oil they are hypocrites? One of the big arguments that ANWR proponents use is the environmentally safe pipeline that actually HELPS the caribou. If the free market isn't doing enough for BP to want to keep their pipelines maintained, then maybe some regulation is necessary.

This reminds me of the Exxon Valdez crash. Yes the captain, Joe Hazelwood, was drunk, but he was passed out in his bunk too. The helmsman (3rd Mate) that was actually driving the tanker couldn't avoid the spill because his Reycas Radar was inoperable. Why was it inoperable? Because Exxon was being frugal and hadn't replaced broken parts in over a year.

I don't see where Mike called them hypocrites.

Right now I'm missing the ability to check a person's comment history, though, given that you're fixated on a mistaken concept of hypocrisy (a leftist trait), and are quick to support government regulation (another leftist trait).

If you're seeing shades of gray, it's because you're not looking close enough to see the black and white dots.

Libs always want to pass new laws every time something happens as if we could create a utopia by passing more and more laws. We have enough laws. In fact, we have too many now. People break laws and make mistakes. Before oil, cities burned to the ground from fireplace fires. people fell off horses. People are fallen flawed sinners. Our system is the worst in the world since the fall...
except for all the others!!

Far too many Republicans are working to prevent off shore drilling as well. Even the Bush administration continues to operate under its own self-imposed moratorium in places that are not affected by the congressional one (I'm still waiting for Greenpeace to applaud him for that). The whole thing is ridiculous, but sometimes it doesn't matter what the facts are, it's all about emotion. The same thing leading people to vote to renew the voting rights act for 25 more years leads them to vote against ANWR.
