GOP Wins Blogosphere Battle

The results are in and not in the favor of the liberal bloggers who were anticipating victory all last week. The voters have spoken and there just wasn’t a "Latta" love for Robin Weirauch’s extreme agenda. Robin Weirauch, if elected, planned on joining the most liberal ranks of Congress and the liberal blogosphere tried to enable her sad, third attempt.
For the third time voters rejected Weirauch’s “MoveOn Agenda” deciding to support a committed Republican. Article after article poured out of the liberal blogosphere. In fact, here are a few of my favorite quotes: There's widespread discontent;” “The Republicans have done what they can to try and raise money on the Intertubes ;” and “I feel kinda sorry for how incompetent these guys are.” I'm sorry but I must have read that wrong, Markos.
Make no doubt about it, Republicans have a strong web-effort but we, unlike extreme liberals, don’t need to constantly brag about it – we aim for results. The DCCC and liberal blogosphere gave this everything they had, it just wasn’t good enough. For weeks the Democrats have been claiming “As Ohio goes, so goes the nation.” Well, I have to say I agree with them. They discredited their own claim and failed in proving that Ohio and Virginia would provide fertile ground for expansion of the Democrat party.
Weirauch had heavy support from the DCCC, Daily Kos, Act Blue, Nancy Pelosi, Charlie Rangel, Harry Reid, and EMILY’s LIST. We were severely out-manned in Ohio and Virginia and this is what they have to show for it? We came to the game to win. All in all, the liberal blogosphere should take heed: You’re not as powerful as you think and it’s about results not PR.

Who cares whether interest groups spent money, but the DCCC spent far less on the race than did the RNCC and they are broke.
Your own post says it was a cross-post at the GOP.com, I mean headline news here every: GOP puts positive spin on everything it does.
Move-On, DailyKos, and other left-leaning interest groups will raise more money on other campaigns that they think is important, but it is the Campaign Committees are the ones that get polling and information. The Republican Congressional Campaign Committee needs to raise money not brag how they were able to keep at pretty red looking district.
I think Republicans are definitely in a stronger position than they were in 2006 that is for sure and this victory shows that they are at least bringing their base back into alignment which is great.

Notice to All - I am an independent who has voted for Senator Bayh (Democrat) and Senator Lugar (Republican) along with over 60% of my state. You may take what I say with a grain of salt at your own party'
I'd rather they spend the money and WIN rather than spend half the money and LOSE. Sure the RNCC spent too much, but they have a congressional seat this morning, the DCCC has nothing to show for their money.

We were severely outspent in Ohio and Virginia
The GOP was severely outspent? I don't have all the figures in front of me, but I know that the NRCC spent $443,000 in OH-5 and $93,000 in VA-1. The DCCC spent $243,000 in OH-5, and I'm nbot sure how much in VA-1 (hasn't been filed yet). The full reports for candidates haven't been filed, but Latta spent $508,000 and Weirauch spent $121,000 as of a couple of weeks before the election. Are you looking at a full set of filings that I haven't seen? Because there's no indication from the data I see that says that the GOP were outspent at all, let alone "severely."
These two elections are clear wins for the GOP. It strikes me as unnecessarily misleading to say that the GOP was at a huge financial disadvantage here.
has what I think is the best take on this: it's mildly good news for the GOP.
which is probably accurate.
....given that there was a bitterly contested primary fight, with the conservatives choice losing a close race. The Club for Growth ran attack ads on Latta. Weirach has run multiple times in this district, she had the path cleared for her, she had plenty of cash, and the backing of liberal groups, the DSCC and the DNC. Bob Latta wasn't an outstanding candidate, and the race still wasn't close. I chalk this race up as a win for the GOP - not a significant win, but a good win.
“.....women and minorities hardest hit”
Forget about what you perceive as the 'middle' ground. The middle is farther right than you think.
Stand up for conservative positions. The majority of voters has conservative principles on the majority of issues, although not every voter agrees on every issue.
Compromise on your conservatism, and the electorate may as well vote for the Democrat.
The "Third Worst Person in the World" and aiming higher.
on the web. After all, Drudge is still way bigger than Kos, and the GOP seems to be able to use the web for message dissemination (re: Rathergate) much more effectively. If anything, the lefty "netroots" get in the way of the Democratic Party a lot more than they help.
Hang all traitors and secessionists! Hang them high!

The state GOP there is in shambles, and the state seems to be leading itself toward a breed of economic populism that the Democrats seem to be quite good at championing. It's good to see we're winning battles, but the war is far from over in Ohio.
