VA-SEN: Gilmore Talks To DCTimes

By Mason Conservative Posted in Comments (7) / Email this page » / Leave a comment »

I saw this today at work, a very long interview the DCTimes did with Jim Gilmore.  This is why I support Gilmore, he talks about national issues that a US senator will have to deal with.  As much as I respect Bob Marshall, his campaign has more resembled running for a statewide seat in the House of Delegates.  Notice we don't hear Mark Warner talking about these issues?  The key will be for Gilmore to break-through the "Mark Warner Is God" narrative that is out there and get him to answer some of these tough questions with real answers the same way Gilmore does. Gilmore's best line is this one:

"Seems to me that if your able to go and ask the Saudis to drill for oil, we ought to be able to go and ask the Democrats to drill for oil.

Here is some of the video from Gilmore's interview:

Gilmore is a sinking ship. by St. Louis Conservative

It's best for the VA GOP to get off and support someone else.

Bob Marshall?

Why? by youthgrunt

While I grew up in Virginia I am not particularly aware of the current electoral situation. Why is Gilmore a sinking ship? With the exception of his talk on free trade, his answers in this interview were outstanding. Certainly a lot better than the nut-job that he would be replacing.

Guys like this--with a very broad conservative stand--are what we need in the Republican Party.

was to make sure that the playing field was even. I'm okay with that.

Even if foreign countries are not playing with an "even field", we are better off taking advantage of their bad policy.

...most polls. I don't think he has much of a shot frankly. Isn't he pro-choice, anyway?

Why should the VA GOP nominate a guy who will go down in flames, when they could nominate someone else: Bob Marshall.

by the use of polls. Here in Indianapolis, that caused many good folk not to run for mayor. But then circumstances changed and the "unwinnable" mayor seat was won by a political neophyte. We have almost 6 months until the election so we shouldn't panic on polls at this point.

The other question is whether or not the other candidate (e.g. Marshall) would be in better shape. The little bit that I have read indicates that he has no money and was not raising much where Gilmore was doing ok.

He is not pro-choice by Mason Conservative

Not to parse too much, but he isn't perfect on abortion but he was one of the most pro-life governors in state history . . . Google "Hugh Finn Case"

And just so you know, George Allen was up by 30 points on Jim Webb and the Dems didn't whine and give up . . . they fought.

Why aren't we willing to do so in a red state like Virginia?
