Daily Kos Attacking Charlton Heston on His Passing

I guess we shouldn't expect any sense of decorum from Kossacks, but it is pretty lame that they had to unleash their hatred only minutes after the announcement of the passing of famed American actor Charlton Heston. A Daily Kos "diarist" named doriangz started out calling Heston a "gun-nut" and ending with his life and causes being considered "political nutdouchebaggery," and the incivility just flowed like the opening of a damn from Kos posters' keyboards after that. Not much respect for a man who's film career spanned many decades, who marched with Martin Luther King, and fought to uphold our Constitution.
One poster said that Heston tore into the "victims of Columbine," one Marcus Tullius said he laughed when Jerry Falwell died and that Heston's death made the world a better place. And Fairy Tale echoed that with a post that said, "Things are already getting better in America" now that Heston was dead. RandySF said that he was sorry but that he "can't think of anything nice" to say about Heston. Aqualad08 seemed to think that if there were "no guns in heaven" that would make it "hell" for Heston.
And they were just getting warmed up.
Then, we always have to have the "he's a crappy actor" types like poster jazzmaniac and the ones that have no respect, like ohcanada who said, "As we sow.. I didn't respect him in life..and I won't in death." Then FischFry jumped in to say that he assumed that mention of the Heston film "A Touch of Evil" was really a description of Heston himself.
And, predictably, there is the foul mouthed type that we have all come to associate so specifically with uncivil leftists, too. PerfectStormer posted a loving "So long, motherf***er" when he heard the news of Heston's death.
But remember, these are the same sort of people who claim that it is they that are the more "compassionate," more "caring,", and more "civilized" in our society. Well, if the compassion they displayed for Charlton Heston is any indication, we are in more trouble than we thought... either that or the left has no real compassion at all.
I favor the later, don't you?
Still, there were several posters that were chagrined by the hate and uncivil postings by their fellow lefties. So, at least some of the Kos posters were sorry to hear of Heston's passing and upset at the ignorance of the other posters.
But, all the vitriol is sadly to be expected from the more "loving" left, unfortunately. I can only imagine how the media will treat him over the next few days. Who can doubt that their compassion will quickly fade to be replaced by sniping and attacks of this iconic and quintessentially American personality?

if you have ever personally known people with a far left mindset, they are filled with hate, they are dominated with hatred, cynicism, and unhappiness. It fills every part of their pathetic lives.

far-righters. I recently wrote Eric that it seems to me that as long as people in either party continue dissing each other the way they do, portraying each other as "those worthless ____," and trash their elected representatives if they try to extend a hand across the aisle as a bipartisan gesture, portraying them as "weak" on party loyalty, I don't see how we can EVER hope to make things better in America. Instead of seeing ourselves as party loyalists first, what might we accomplish if we saw ourselves as AMERICANS first, THEN party loyalists?
I agree the poster on dKos was way out of line on his Charlton Heston comments and believe Kos would be better served if he took them down.
I understand what you are trying to say but I disagree with it. We have had ample evidence with the two Bush administrations that attempts to step across the aisle and offer friendship and compromise will fail with the hard left.
I know these people. I can still see them in my mind, sitting around the student union, chainsmoking, putting everyone down. Talking in a know it all air about ideas and histories which they have only a shallow knowledge of.
And most of all talking about how much better the world would be if only THEY were in control.
There is sometimes anger on the right, but on the whole the right, even the far right, is NOT like that. Most of the right leaning coalition would respond best to the old adage, "just leave us alone".
I stand by my view that the far left is dominated In their thinking by contempt and hate.

While I don't disagree with your premise, most of the left-leaning websites post very similar comments as yours about themselves and the right.
So who will be first to try one more time to offer that friendship and compromise you mention in your first paragraph? If no one does, we will still have status quo and nothing substantive changes. As a concerned citizen of this country, that's what frustrates me; our inability to find a way to work with each other as AMERICANS first, party loyalists second.
they are actually only a small vocal part of the Democrat party. And soon they will totally discredit themselves with the rest of that party.
It would be nice to have a sane Democrat party again.

President Bush campaigned on the premise of being a uniter not a divider, based on what he had been able to do in Texas as governor.
Almost immediately after taking office, the MSM started pointing out that his administration was the "most divisive administration in history." His numbers, they were quick to point out, were lower than President Clinton at his worst.
BUT, if you looked inside those numbers you found that the Republicans who gave the president high marks, were almost EXACTLY the same as the Democrats who had given President Clinton high marks. The difference between the two -- the REASON that President Bush was "the most divisive president in history" was because Democrats refused to support the president in record numbers.
It would appear that the right is more willing to put the office ahead of ideology than the left.
But, then again, the fact that I am willing to point this fact out is just a sign of how divisive I really am.
Decided to whatever it took delegitimize his presidency.
It did not matter what damage they did to the country. Anything they could do take a shot and they didn't care who it hit.
The modern left reminds me of Jack Nicholson's description of women in as good as it gets. While its not accurate for women its perfect for the left.

we demonstrate how divisive we really. Instead of just "moving on" as our friends on the left tell us to do, we insist on holding their past words and actions against them.

We need to simply unilaterally disarm -- stop attacking them for their hypocrisy. If we stop calling them on their hypocrisy, and we know the MSM will not call them on it, we will all be able to get along. All rancor will cease if we simply give in.
Sounds like a strategy on which to build a Presidential Campaign.

Take global warming, to do anything to "solve" the problem, one is forced to accept the premise that man-made global warming actually exists as an existential problem. To compromise with the premise is to throw away your own common sense and abandon the federalist principles that made this country great. I will not go there! To "compromise" with a liberal is to abandon your own principles and accept theirs.

Note to Kos Kommenters- this may come as a surprise to you, but we all die. Think about it.

I will guess their parents never taught them to use "their good words"....liberal parents equal angry whiney unintelligent children.

their Dr Jekyll imposture with their real Mr Hyde selves. I guess they don't care to try, better to have it both ways. Your examples are typical of an out of control hatred, the vulgarity and happiness over the death of a person they disagree with.
And we're the ones who are supposed to be the haters.
