STATE CONVENTION…ONE DAY ONLY…AUGUST 23…we will hold our state convention all on one day, Saturday August 23rd. We nominate state board, U of M, MSU, WSU board seats and re-nominate Supreme Court Chief Justice Cliff Taylor.

NEW AMBASSADOR TO RUSSIA…MICHIGAN NATIVE…Muskegon native John Beyrle (BY'-er-lee), who has been the U.S. ambassador to Bulgaria since 2005, has been nominated by President Bush to become the next U.S. ambassador to Russia.

CUBAN POLITICAL PRISONERS… May 21st marks the first International Day of Solidarity with Cuba's Political Prisoners and Democracy Activists. MSNBC..Hotline reported that Chris Matthews will announce the vote on behalf of the state (anchors) of MSNBC on behalf of Barack Obama at the Democrat National Convention. CBS will go next? But they are NOT biased in any way.

STATE BUDGET SHORT…AGAIN…After passing the largest tax hike in Michigan’s history, Governor Granholm and the Democrats are on their way to spending MORE money than the state is taking in. Gongwer News Service reports:

The House Fiscal Agency estimates that total general fund and School Aid Fund revenues for 2008-09 will be down by a total of $434 million from the January revenue estimate. The Senate Fiscal Agency is more pessimistic, estimating total 2008-09 revenue down by $550 million from the January estimate.

CBS MICHIGAN MATTERS…I taped "Michigan Matters" with Carol Cain, which will air this weekend. "Michigan Matters" airs Saturday on CBS Detroit at 11 a.m. and is repeated on Sunday on CW 50 at 11:00 a.m.
