Posted at 8:32pm on Apr. 29, 2008 It looks like Moe can buy his iPod after all

By scottbomb

A little while back, Moe lamented a ludicrous lawsuit where Atlantic was suing a poor guy named Howell for copyright infringement simply because he had the audacity to make MP3 copies of CDs (that he bought) for his own personal use.

In a rare case of judicial common sense, it now appears that Mr. Howell may in fact be vindicated. Arizona District Judge Neil V. Wake has ruled that the recording industry has gone too far.

Posted at 2:26pm on Apr. 28, 2008 If gasoline climbs to $10/gal., I'm buying a horse.

By scottbomb

This article is truly frightening. I drive a Honda Civic which gets about 30 mi./gal. If these folks are right, it may soon cost me about $120 to fill my tank. My gasoline will therefore cost more than the rent on my apartment. Dear God, please let me buy a horse. I doubt I'll be able to talk the apartment management into it so I may have to move.

Posted at 10:26am on Apr. 28, 2008 Noah's Ark - in 2008

By scottbomb

I don't know who originally wrote this but it appeared in another discussion forum I frequent. I thought some of you might appreciate it.

In the year 2008, the Lord came unto Noah, who was now living in the United States, and said, 'Once again, the earth has become wicked and over-populated, and I see the end of all flesh before me. Thou shalt build another ark and save two of every living thing along with a few good people.'

Posted at 9:07am on Apr. 4, 2008 AGW article full of contradictions

By scottbomb

Everyone's talking about how cool last winter was, except of course for Algore. However, the high priest's disciples have taken note and they have a response.

You see, it's just temporary.

Global temperatures will drop slightly this year as a result of the cooling effect of the La Nina current in the Pacific, UN meteorologists have said.

Posted at 11:19pm on Mar. 30, 2008 Spring has sprung... and so has Algore (may God help us all).

By scottbomb

Awake from his winter hibernation, Algore has left his cave with about $300 million ready to spend on brainwashing America.

His work is cut out for him. All of our candidates, both Dems and the one we call a Republican, are on board with AGW. Nevermind the long list of scientists who denounce the myth. As far as they're concerned, it's "settled science" and the rest of us had BETTER get on board. Algore intends to make sure of it.

Posted at 2:54pm on Mar. 20, 2008 Don't like those gas prices? How about paying 50 cents/gallon more?

By scottbomb

It's Christmas in March! Drudge has linked to a story from foxnews.com that makes a great gift, just in time for election year.

Appearently, Rep. John Dingell (D) of Michigan wants to add a 50 cent tax to every gallon of gasoline sold in order to "cut back on consumption".

Um yeah, sure John. I'll just walk 5 miles to work. No in fact, I have a better idea. I'll just spend less on other things which will hurt retail sales.

Posted at 2:40pm on Mar. 13, 2008 Dear God, can we please have a law like this in America? Amen.

By scottbomb

Talk about "slip and fall" lawyers! Was it Shakespeare that said something about killing them all? I dunno, I've never read Shakespeare. Anyhow, it's cases like this that give me hope for our legal system. It happened in the UK (which has plenty of legal problems, even worse than ours) but that "loser pays" law seems to be just what the doctor ordered.

Posted at 11:09am on Mar. 11, 2008 Oil prices - will it ever stop?

By scottbomb

Please excuse my ignorance, but what the heck is up with these oil prices? It hit $100 what, a week ago? And now it's threatening with $110?! Gas is almost $4/gal. (God help you if you use diesel) and the inflation is hitting everything hauled by a truck.

From what I understand, this is not a classic supply vs. demand scenario as there is plenty of oil available for refining. I know the environmentalists have a death-grip on harvesting our own oil and building new refineries but from what I've heard, there isn't a shortage of gas, either. And don't even get me started on what I think of ethanol.

Posted at 12:36am on Feb. 6, 2008 An appeal to my fellow Texans

By scottbomb

I know there are a lot of us here. Regardless of who's camp you were in the chances are pretty good that you'll never get to vote for him. And even if you do, it probably won't amount to a hill of beans.

After California, Texas is the second most populated state in the nation. The greater Dallas-Fort Worth population acounts for the 4th largest metro area in America.

You'd think that a state like Texas, which prides itself as the home of all things BIG, would have a considerable influence in presidential primary politics. Sadly, this doesn't appear to be the case. The way all these pundits are talking, it doesn't look like it will even matter who gets our delegates since by the time we get to vote (in March) the GOP will pretty much have already picked it's candidate.

Posted at 12:08pm on Jan. 31, 2008 Bill Clinton gets tongue-tied over AGW

By scottbomb

What was that, former President Clinton? We need to SLOW DOWN OUR ECONOMY to fight "global warming"?

We just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions 'cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren.

Everyone's economy except of course for yours & Algore.

Posted at 5:23pm on Jan. 22, 2008 Fellow Fredheads: Where do we go from here?

By scottbomb

I'm sure everyone has his second choice. I think for me, it's Romney. I prefer Rudy but I no longer believe he's viable. I could be wrong though, it's been known to happen.

I really have no where else to go. It's a pity because I used to like John McCain. Then came McCain-Feingold. Then the Gang of 14. Then McCain-Kennedy. Enough! The only way I'll vote for McCain is if he wins our nomination but it's going to take one heck of a sales pitch to make me support him now.

Posted at 10:29pm on Jan. 6, 2008 Boston Globe asks, "where did global warming go?"

By scottbomb

Citing 2007 as a rather chilly year for cities worldwide, Jeff Jacoby at the Boston Globe seems to be asking if AGW just... might... not... be?

Someone wake Algore. He's awefully quiet during the winter, isn't he? Must be hibernating.

THE STARK headline appeared just over a year ago. "2007 to be 'warmest on record,' " BBC News reported on Jan. 4, 2007. Citing experts in the British government's Meteorological Office, the story announced that "the world is likely to experience the warmest year on record in 2007," surpassing the all-time high reached in 1998.

If the Trans-Siberian Orchestra isn't already in your music collection, here's a sample of what you're missing. For some reason, this song always brings tears to my eyes.

Merry Christmas to all.

Posted at 11:10pm on Dec. 13, 2007 Foning for Fred

By scottbomb

Now THAT was an experience. I just got done making my first round of campaign calls for Fred Thompson. I used to do telemarketing for a living (about 7 years experience including training new telemarketers) and even today I get nervous. But I have to say, it was fun and I look forward to making more calls.

It also appears that there are LOTS of undecided voters. This just adds to my distrust in polls.

Posted at 10:25am on Dec. 12, 2007 Pope Benedict confronts the Church of AGW

By scottbomb

What joyus news I find this morning thanks to our friend Matt Drudge. According to the Daily Mail,

Pope Benedict XVI has launched a surprise attack on climate change prophets of doom, warning them that any solutions to global warming must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology.
