Man, Men, Manliness...or...Misogyny Light 2

By speciallist Posted in Comments (131) / Email this page » / Leave a comment »

I am the pope of the Man Church. As pope I have a few things to talk about. As I have proclaimed this morning...

The pope is not only the supreme head of the Man Church but has a string of other titles.

I am Bishop of Home, Vicar of Velcro, Successor of Salt Peter, Prince of the Apostholes, Archwoodshop and Makitatropolin of the Hoe'n Province, the Deacon of Do-it-yourself, Sovereign of Lattican City and Servant of the Solvents of Sod.

That authority cannot be delegated....even though they still ask me for ID and a credit card..but I digress..

Why are women and men so different in their choices and behavior?

Cognitive functioning or brain processing differences in the two genders has been a point of interest and contention for many years.

Behavioral Differences:
For one, attention and perception differ early on. Baby girls have been noted to gaze longer at objects than baby boys. Later they rely on landmarks and memory for guidance. Boys on the other hand, have a better visual-spatial ability such as aiming at stationary or moving targets and detecting minor movements in their visual fields more easily. Many of these abilities would have been important for survival in the time of hunter-gatherer societies, where males navigated unfamiliar terrain while hunting, and females foraged more nearby areas gathering food.

Neuroanatomical Differences:
Comparison in size shows that the male brain is on average 10% larger than the brain of females, although women usually have a larger percentage of information-processing gray matter. A greater proportion of gray matter suggests a greater processing capacity. This explains why the belief that greater head size indicates greater intelligence is invalid in this instance.

TeleGenetic and Physiological Differences:
An individual with an extra Y chromosome or XYY instead of XY genotype will not only have a different phenotype, but will be much more aggressive due to the increased "maleness".

Female infants appear more sensitive to noise and are also more social. They are more inclined to "gurgle" at people and to recognize familiar faces than baby boys.
Hormones also seem to play a major role in sexual differences. If absent, this leads to female gender maps.

Environment:
The environmental and social influences certainly play a major role as well. From day one, starting with their initial noisy entrance into this world, babies are viewed according to their gender, even color coding them right away. Oh, it's a girl! God forbid if this child ends up wearing blue - she may have a social identity crisis. influencing decision-making and social behavior.

"They'll play a merrier tune later...when we kill them."

What is Manliness
"Manliness, is a quality that causes individuals to stand for something." The Greeks used the term 'thumos' to denote the spirited element shared by human beings and animals that makes them fight back when threatened. It causes dogs to defend their turf. It makes human beings stand up for their kin, their religion, their country, their principles. "Just as a dog defends its master," writes Mansfield, "so the doggish part of the human soul defends human ends higher than itself."

Every human being possesses thumos. But those who are manly possess it in abundance, and sometimes in excess. The manly man is not satisfied to let things be as they are, and he makes sure everyone knows it.

Manliness can be noble and heroic, like the men on the Titanic, but it can also be foolish, stubborn, and violent.
Theodore Roosevelt was manly, so was Harry "The Buck Stops Here" Truman. Manly men are confident in risky situations.

What is Machisomo
Machismo is a prominently exhibited or excessive masculinity. As an attitude, machismo ranges from a personal sense of virility to a more extreme masculism. In many cultures, machismo is acceptable and even expected.
The most amazing thing about the trait may be seen as the product of runaway evolution. Simply fascinating.

In literature
In American literature, a memorable example of machismo comes from Tennessee Williams' character Kowalski, the egotistical brother-in-law in A Streetcar Named Desire. In the play (and in the motion picture), Stanley epitomizes the hyper-masculine alpha male, socially and physically dominating and imposing his will upon his wife and her sister, Blanche Dubois. Bound up with Stanley's aggressive and occasionally misogynist views is a strong sense of pride and honor which leads to his hatred of Blanche.

Machismo itself derives from macho, a latin word taken from Galician, meaning "male [animal]"

Cicero wrote that "a man's chief quality is courage."

Now I have a Rental Tenant...real piece of work...I like to call him 'Sweet Woman'...because he bit.....he nags..like a woman.

He is definantly not Macho.

I been noticing alot of 'sweet women' around here at Redstate. And as pope of the Man Church...

I decree that there will be Manliness on this website (even if your a real sweet woman) and those that are not, will be ignored and otherwise embarrassed.........until we get bored with them or they go crying home to their mommies.

Misogyny, just dig the way it sounds. But OK, moving on, this is a masterpiece essay on the virtue of manliness. My fear is that, having written it late in the day, it won't get the necessary number of recommends to get on the list, where it SO belongs.

Not necessarily--this comes from a finding that a higher percentage of prisoner’s are XYY than men in normal society....a correlation but not causation---and as XYY men are usually sterile, not necessarily a comment on "manliness"

Good blog, but perhaps a bit down on maleness... The part about males standing for something is good though. I think our country may have become a bit too female of late, with all the political correctness and consensus seeking in water cooler politics. Where are the men who have the "aggression" to stand for what’s right and not avoid conflict for the sake of consensus. Where are men who won't compromise their views for social convenience??

The question is, "would letting them handle it be best for America?" What if they went in a more radical anti-Zionist anti-American direction like Palestine recently did?? Staying in allows us a measure of control. Leaving creates instability and a power vacuum. Terrorists are unlikely to take over at this point, but an unstable country may elect an American hating Prime Minister. Which is why I think making a country you invade a Democracy too quickly is a bad idea. First they need to be an occupied disarmed protectorate for a while until the population adapts....then elections.

You don't go to war to make friends. You go to destroy enemies. Like it or not, America perfected war during WWII. We completely destroyed several enemies by showing them what WAR really is. They are all still so terrified of war the mere idea of fully rearming is anathema and in Japan helped bring about a government change recently.

After you have broken them, then you rebuild them. Then you allow them to govern themselves. Then you remove your troops (mostly). It has worked every single time we've done it.

"Always be honest with yourself. Even if you are honest with no one else."

McCain is a traitor by TELLINGITREAL

How about you go ask McCain why he cooperated with the enemy when he was a prisoner of war, and received special treatment by the Vietnamese Government for it!! As a matter of PUBLIC GOVERNMENT RECORD (records that have been CLASSIFIED by the US government: how convenient!!! How about McCain tell us why he won't get the tapes UNCLASSIFIED so we can all see how he disrespected the USA)

McCain also made over 32 TAPES of PROPAGANDA for the Vietnamese Government, the enemy, and it seems he was one of the only prisoner of war in Veitnam to have cooperated with the enemy.

McCain also gave interviews to the Vietnamese communist news service, interviews that were NOT flattering to the USA, but were disrespectul to this country.

Why did you do that McCain?! I think the citizens if this country, as well as the soldiers who served with you, and did NOT betray their country like you did, would really like to know why you worked for the enemy during the Vietnam war, and why you don't want Americans to see what it was you said about this country to the Vietnamese government.
