Polar Bears

By Tim Schieferecke Posted in Comments (31) / Email this page » / Leave a comment »

Hi, my name is Adam Schieferecke.

In May 2008 they put the polar bear on the endangered species list.Lets get this straight I'm a child of 12 and I love nature but I don't believe in bull crap. The population of polar bears has drastically increased from 5000 in 1970 to an amazing 25000 in 2008.

At first it scared the heck out of me when they said "the penguins and polar bears were dying",but soon I realized that it's just propoganda not just from myself but also my dad Tim Schieferecke. Here's a little fact global warming and global cooling have happened all throughout history, and every year ice melts and reforms.Al Gore and many others are ruining America's youth by saying that"the big bad corporations are slaughtering and killing the animals and dismantling America",and they're turning the children into confused anti Americans. I hope someday that most kids will learn that global warming is all molarky.

I'm very proud of you son. by Tim Schieferecke

I hope you continue to be the caring, proud American boy I've raised you to be. Your future is bright as long as you believe in America and yourself. I know you felt a little nervous about posting something yourself, but you did it and spoke your heart. I love you kiddo, Dad

Congratulations on raising a son who is able to separate truth from the educational pablum common today.

I have a son of 12, and he is constantly fed the GW propaganda. They made him watch the Gore movie. I have to work hard at detox. Good for you for seeing the truth.

I bought a junkscience.com teeshirt to wear to my son's school functions.

I am proud of you. by redneck hippie

You are a very smart person to have figured this out so young. I have two 30-plus year old children who have swallowed the whole liberal agenda hook line and sinker.

I think their global warming fantasies may be coming to an end, because they now conveniently never bring up the issue or if someone else brings up the issue they quickly, and almost desperately, change the subject.

When the Gore DVD came out they tried to get me to watch it with them at their house, but I chose to read a book in the other room.

Judging from their recent actions, I think they don't want to hear their mother saying, "I told you so." Truth is I wouldn't make fun of their opinion. I believe in free speech, after all. I do, however, reserve my right to call Al Gore the fraud and/or idiot that he is.

Keep letting us know how your education is going. We'll be waiting to hear from you!

Dear Adam by kowalski

Dear Adam,

It's good to see you thank your father now, and I'll tell you something else:

As you get a little older, you might have the feeling that your Dad was full of malarkey and you might go through a time in your life where you think you know better than he does. Lots of people just a little older than you start thinking that way, for reasons that I'll leave your mother and father to explain to you.

If that happens, you'll find out eventually that there is almost no limit to the number of things people will say -- even though it's malarkey -- to get elected to positions of political power and influence. You'll learn that an awful lot of those people don't have the slightest idea of what they're talking about. And even worse, you'll learn that some of them *do*.

It sounds like you've got a great Dad there and everyone here at Redstate likes him and thinks he's super. As you get older, make sure you remember his advice, because there's a lot more of it coming, and a lot of it will be important.

In the meantime, get the best education you can, work hard, and when you need advice about it, ask your dad about what books you need to read. You'll meet a lot of people in your future who will tell you to read a lot of books that aren't worth reading, but are influential because their authors are celebrities of one kind or another. Celebrities are almost never the people you should listen to about important things.

meet up with designing women who will try to persuade you that people like you are responsible for the polar bears' problems and all the other problems of the world. This is when you must come back to RS and get in touch with Mr. Kowalski.

Of course, Dad can help you with this, too. And Mom. Especially Mom!

Congratulations on your first RS blog!

One more thing... by kowalski

Even though I'm sure your Dad recommended this diary because you wrote it, and even though this is really your diary and we all understand that, remind him that on Redstate the rules are that an account owner doesn't recommend his own blog entry, even when he's very proud of his son. We have that rule because we get a lot of people who try all sorts of stupid things. This blog entry isn't one of them, but we have to be fair to everyone when we make the rules.

Its good to see a young person who, despite the best efforts of the so-called 'educational system', is not prepared to simply swallow their nonsense.

I too am very disturbed by the move to place the polar bear on the endangered species list because I know they pressed so hard for this --- another reason to keep us from drilling in ANWR and any place else in the region. I'll put real money that the population of polar bears has never been higher than it is today --- the normal artic environment probably can't support more high-maintenance mammals like the polar bear.

Repeating Old Mistakes! by Andrew Quinn

The point is, the shrinkage of habitat is predicted to take place in the future. Why wait for the problem to become irreversibly grave before acting--that's not the point of the ESA. We're supposed to take precautionary action.

Furthermore, that argument is entirely facetious. It's like saying that a successful lawyer shouldn't be worried about someone who has begun to tap his bank accounts via identify theft because he still has more money than he did in 1970 when he graduated from law school. Absurd.

"Qui custodiet ipsos custodes?"

The mark of a successful global warming diary.

When a Warmer decides he has to argue with you, you know you have hit home.

"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."
-Thomas Paine: The American Crisis, No. 4, 1777

Baloney by clacourr

The numbers have been increasing even during the time that the habitat was supposedly shrinking and the world was getting warmer. The predictions are made based on computer models that are highly questionable. Dr. Mitchell Taylor, a bear biologist with the Canadian government, wrote in 2006: “There is no need to panic. Of the 13 populations of polar bears in Canada, 11 are stable or increasing in number. They are not going extinct, or even appear to be affected at present." As far as the example, the bank account is still increasing, and is not yet being tapped. The successful lawyer is being forced to pay more taxes and alter his life style because a psychic has predicted that in the future his account will be tapped.

endangered species act by Tim Schieferecke

The point of the endangered species act is to protect endangered animals not to predict the future. What is this Minority Report? Sincerely,Adam Schieferecke

have two paragraphs without rushing in to save the world from his errors? (This, Adam, is a good life lesson. There are jerks in this world. Always have been, always will be. Don't let them get you down and don't waste much time on them.

And as for you, Mr. Quinn, I would like to close with a snappy Latin quote, but nothing comes to mind. So another timeless piece of wisdom will have to do:

Now that you have your gas bag filled, why don't you blow away? - from "The Honeymooners"

Tim and Adam by swamp_yankee

Congatulations.

Adam, just so you know, you probally have the equivalent education of a undergraduate student at a prestigious school.

Tim, I know your proud. Keep him young and bright-eyed. (politics is so tiring and cynical).

To both, the term "Malarkey" comes from a fifties comic strip character "Simple J. McCarthy" satirizing Joseph McCarthy, a great anti-communist, troubled man, and original victim of the Left's propaganda and lies. Just like they lie about polar bears. They lied about him.

I urge truth tellers like to stop using malarkey and to let poor ole "Tailgunner Joe" rest in peace.

we like to live in the facts and not the feelings of an issue. I see you do to and having two sons myself who are fact based young men it is a pleasure to meet you!

Freedom of Religion NOT Freedom from Religion

You should always check the opinions that others offer you against the facts you have available. There are many times when people tell you things for reasons that have nothing to do with informing you. If the opinion offered doesn't match the facts you have, check into it deeper before believing the person. It's possible you have your facts wrong. It's also possible that the person is twisting the truth a bit in order to convince you to change your behavior.

This is a common tactic in politics, but it also applies to other areas of your life. It applies to what you read in the news, what your friends tell you and even what your teachers tell you. They are often well meaning people, but they are also often wrong.

P.S. Tell your dad he's doing a great job raising his son!

P.P.S. I've found that it's the brighter children who pick up on this stuff. I assume you're in the top 10% or so of your class.

Socialism doesn't work. It looks nice on paper, but it's been tried and it's failed miserably every time (usually accompanied by widespread death and suffering).

Dear Adam,
Well said! It is nice to see someone can see beyond the fibs being told to us to push an agenda, especially in one of our young future leaders.
