I thought I made that plain in my OP. It's the fact that the non-Establishment Republicans are starting to line up behind Romney - Rubio, DeMint, Toomey, Mike Lee, even Rush in a back-handed way.

I'm not usually impacted by endorsements, though they sometimes give me a clue as to what other politicians believe. When Newt was backed by Perry and Palin, it left me encouraged. Even when some politicians stay on the side lines, I'm okay with that.

When Christie backed Romney, I wasn't surprised, as he's partial conservative at best. I'm basically saying, somewhere along the line, you need to trust someone in government, since the other way lies madness.

Though, yes, I agree, everyone does have an opinion. The disconnect I don't get - the guy never really had that great of a record on Conservative votes/policies, and even his backers say that he's more conservative NOW than he was 4 years ago. Yet, all we have to go on is platitudes.

And, yet, the Establishment picked him. My one hope is that he has the cajones to treat Obama like he treated the rest of the field.

Heck, I'm still not convinced (at all) that he can beat Obama. I don't put much stock in the polls, whether Obama is up or down against any of the candidates, since there's no real way of knowing, and Repubs are ALWAYS understated by about 5 points by everyone except Rasmussen.

Even so, yes, he's made a lot of gaffs, and with or without them, he was never going to be an easy sell to middle income Americans. Having said that, I'm not all that sure that class envy works all that great when the rubber meets the road, so who knows.

Newt gave up because he would not be reelected speaker. That part was correct, unless all the Congressmen interviewed about the matter are revising history. The part about the "fine" versus penalty for the cost of investigation was incorrect, and overstated by the PAC.
Unfortunately, Newt thought he was losing due to negative press when he was losing support of those who had known him the longest and who concluded he lacked Pres character.

On both points - I'm a Newt supporter, too - and have donated to his campaign, as I did to Perry's. And I also believe Ron Paul is a snake, though I can't blame him for snagging delegates. If he's playing by the rules, he's playing by the rules. It's not like he's out there lying about other candidates.

(Hint to Romney's PAC!)

I think he's a snake b/c for whatever reason, he never attacks Romney, ever. Why? Even the MSM says that Romney is the more moderate candidate. I don't want to do more conjecturing than I have to, but why doesn't Paul take on Romney?

If nothing else, the message percolated around RedState has taught me that in this election, though it took me two and a half decades being involved in the voting process to realize it.

Conservatives have to get involved. More than just showing up and voting on election day.

I think most conservatives are out there busy, raising a family, working, going to church, et al - and though they hold core beliefs, they don't have the time afforded to Union types and college drop outs to put on their faux rage and stamp their petulant feet in a nonsensical "occupy" movement.

Having said that, I think the work being done at the Precinct Project's blog is fantastic and the word needs to spread - at least to conservatives. A few hours a month to save our country? Yeah, I think we can do that.

bad things can happen.

I know of one county caucus in MN where 9 of the 13 delegates elected to represent the county at the state convention were Paulites even though he had come in third or fourth place in the primary.

The Paulites learned the rules and applied them. They showed up when it mattered. Conservatives did not.

Conservatives need to get involved in Party politics where the live, learn the rules, and assert themselves. The Paulites are doing it.

Unite and organize locally inside our respective local Party committees; win nationally.

Thank you.
