A Perfect Storm is Brewing in Massachusetts

December 16, 1773 – On a cold Massachusetts evening, thousands of oppressed American citizens gathered around Boston Harbor to voice their displeasure with their government.  After decades of being taxed, tyrannized, and having their grievances ignored, those Massachusetts citizens did what Americans ultimately do – They put their lives, their families and their fortunes on hold in order to protect liberty.  And on that night, amongst the shouting and the confusion and the tea floating in the harbor, liberty was protected.

History has a way with irony.  On Tuesday, January 19, 2010 – over 236 years after those Americans lit the brushfire that ultimately would begin to burn so hot and so bright that it exploded into revolution – liberty, once again, will place its hope in Massachusetts.  And what once seemed impossible, has now become plausible.

Can Scott Brown really win?  Six months ago, it was impossible.  Six weeks ago, it was improbable.  Six days ago, it was inconceivable.  And yet, with less than 48 hours to go,  the Democrats are jumping on the panic button with both feet.  Bill Clinton was dispatched to Massachusetts over the weekend in an attempt to breathe life into Martha Coakley’s flailing campaign.  President Obama is heading to Boston with Coakley on Sunday in what appears to be a last-ditch effort to rally the left’s “unenthused” base.  In the meantime, all of the polls – including Coakley’s own internals – show Scott Brown surging.  While the race remains “within the margin of ACORN” (H/T Steven Crowder), keep in mind that, as late as mid-October, all of the polls had Coakley enjoying a very comfortable 25 to 30 point lead.

How can this be?  How – in the bluest of blue states, the birthplace of American socialized medicine, the home of Barney Frank - can Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat (err, sorry – the “People’s Seat”) be on the verge of turning red?  Some will credit the socialist agenda of the far-left, as manifested in the health care debate, which, oddly enough, has turned out to be even too much for the “People’s Republic of Massachusetts” to stomach.  Some will call it a reflexive, knee-jerk repudiation of the relentless barrage of programs and pork which have been thrust upon us by the tone-deaf politicians in Washington over the past 12 months.  Still, others will point to the fact that Coakley has presided over what may very well go down as the worst political campaign in modern American history.

While I do not discount the cumulative effect of any of these factors upon the race, I do believe that there is something much larger at play here.  You see, America – ALL OF AMERICA – remains a place unlike any other in the history of the world.  And while we waiver and tire and falter from time to time, in the end, we will always protect liberty.  For the people of Massachusetts, that time is now.  Let freedom ring…

Yesterday I attended the 229th Anniversary celebration of the Patriot victory in Cowpens, SC. I didn’t expect much – it was a cold, gray day. As a member of the “Friiends of Cowpens” Advisory Board, I wanted to attend just to show support for the event. The parking lot was jammed – the National Guard was directing traffic. Hundreds of people were there with their children and grandchildren. I think this is indicative of what’s going on in Massachusetts and across this land . We will stand up. We will not fail our Founding Fathers and the sacrifices they made so long ago.

Freedom was not purchased or protected by the Boston Tea Party. It was only after the blood of patriots and tyrants had been spilled – and the firm resolve of a generation of stout-hearted men and women with more character in their pinky fingers than most Americans possess today had been exercised – that American freedom rang true.

Freedom will not be restored by an electoral victory in Massachusetts. Only hope will be restored, and temporarily at that. Freedom will still be under vigorous assault by the Leftist would-be totalitarians.

We are famous for our own freedom and spreading it to others.
The US has saved or liberated 2 billion since its inception.
We freed ourselves, liberating 2,500,000 from imperial Britain, 1776.
Lincoln freed 3,940,000 slaves, 1863, and kept the nation one instead of the US of N. America and Confederacy of Southern States.
The US liberated 10-12,000,000 slaves in S. Am., when we won the Spn-Am War, 1898. All other slaves held in Spanish lands were also freed.
Twice, Americans saved Europe: 368,000,000 in 1918 and 738,000,000 in 1945. Then we rebuilt Europe with the Marshall Plan.
We gave 72,000,000 Japanese dem. capitalism instead of theocratic dictatorship in 1945.
The US with the UN saved 3,000,000 S. Koreans from Northern communism (and today starvation by the N.) in 1952.
Reagan brought down the Eastern European communist bloc and USSR communism in 1989, for the release of 300,000,000 and 287,000,000.
In 1997, we saved c. 1.4 million Muslim Serbs from genocide in 1997.
In the Middle East, America rescued 21,000,000 Kuwaitis in 1991, and 22,000,000 Afghanistans in 2003 and 24,000,000 Iraqis in 2003.
We have poured trillions into Saudi Arabia for oil, virtually support Egypt, and spend millions on the Palestinians.
When the 2005 tsunami hit Indonesia (the world’s actual largest Muslim nation) and the Pacific Ocean, the ships and manpower that delivered aid and rescue were US military.
Now we are saving Haiti from itself.
    Vote Brown.
