“Conservatives will be so outraged that they will one day regain control of this monstrougly bloated government and RESTRUCTURE IT TO AGAIN RESEMBLE A CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT.”

As much as I’d feel vindicated if the GOP came back in to power and started imposing the Fairness Doctrine on Keith Olberman and Chris Matthews, the victory would be empty. Here’s hoping that when we regain power we’ll have the self-control to beat the liberals’ swords into ploughshares.

Even if this passes, the Repubs and Libers need to do to this what the Left did the porn law. Immediately tie it up in court to keep it from being implemented, then get it declared unconstitutional. The Constitution forbids litmus tests for content on speech.

Although, I am for anything that gets Chris Matthews to stop talking about his tingling when Obama speaks. We can also use it to hammer the MSM bias.

The whole premise of though on the left is built on a house of cards that has been proven time and time again to fail. Conservative talk radio is a thorn in their sides because hosts constantly point this out, and people do listen. In their minds, silencing talk radio (might as well include Fox News, for that matter), or at least restricting it as much as possible, will keep those who question their agenda at a minimum, thus allowing them to keep stacking more cards onto their shaky old house. Ever tried arguing with a liberal? They don’t want to hear facts at all and rely on “known facts” (usually lies) and empty talking points to support their case.

The good news, according to a legal eagle friend of mine, is that since so much money is now involved in conservative talk radio (ad revenues, salaries, etc.) this time there is reason to believe any move by congress to implement some sort of “fairness” standard will end up challenged in the courts and likely end up at the SCotUS.

They currently own the White House and Congress, not to mention a majority of governorships. It’s not like talk radio is standing in between them and near-total power these days. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a huge sign of weakness on their part. After the years I’ve spent listening to talk radio, they should consider that it’s not just conservatives on the right who listen to it, but Dems and independents as well.

They are getting ready to over-reach, as they usually do, and they will find themselves with more of a fight on their hands than they can manage.

Seems like every time a Senator or Representative spouts off in favor of this, we see an Officer Barbrady Chorus of ?OK, people, move along. There’s nothing to see here? telling those of us concerned about the issue that there?s no actual effort to gut the First Amendment.

I wonder when these people think we?ll have *real* cause to get concerned – when it hits 60 Senators and 218 Representatives, or when it hits 3 out of 3 FCC Commissioners?

So far, in the Senate, I?ve got: Durbin, Boxer, Feinstein, Schumer, Bingaman, Harkin, and Stabenow. Anybody know of any others?

Let’s call a spade a spade.

The Fairness Doctrine is a frontal assault on the First Amendment.

Broadcast airtime is determined by the marketplace. If there were a market for liberal talk radio, Rupert Murdoch & Clear Channel would be blanketing the airwaves with it.

But there’s simply not a market for it.

Life’s not “fair”. Congress cannot pass a law to make life fair.

Hey, if we’re talking about monopolies, the Left has a total monopoly on giant papier mache effigies — we conservatives demand that they start making effigies of Barbra Striesand, Hugo Chavez and George Soros!

Conservative talk radio holds Congress accountable. Don’t expect anything more than a superficial resistance to the democrats. If we want to resist this legislation, than we must devise a plan that does not rely on Congress.

They say Rush is out of touch, but he can see through these guys like thinly sliced baloney. He has been warning us about this since Obama first entered the presidential race. He’s now predicting that things like this will cause a conservative revival and back lash. Conservatives will be so outraged that they will one day regain control of this monstrously bloated government and use it against the very Libs who created it. Let’s hope his record for predicting the future holds up on this one.

We lost the “stimulus”only because 3 RINOs cut-and-run. A total of 3 reps voted for this pokulus. I think thats a helluva good start.
Better get ready to fight for your 1st Amendment Rights next. And after that , the 2nd will come under attack as well. These next 2 years won’t be for the weak.
I’m betting that we will see a march on D.C. before too long. Unless you want to be France or learn Russian!

Let this be a wake up call to all the conservative pundits who are trying to paint the Obama Administration as a centrist administration. To Michael Medved, Bill Kristol, David Brooks and the rest: Obama is not our friend! Obama is the classic charismatic leader fronting for a piousness agenda. Him and his administration need to be apposed with all our energy.

At this rate they will make Clinton look like Ronald Reagan.

When they speak lies, it’s about freedom of speech. When we call their attention for their incompetencies and lies, they call it “unfair”. Fairness Doctrine of the Dems is tantamount to “Hey, Reps, Shut Up!!!”.

Why didn’t they push for it during the time of the last administration? Simple. It would work against them…they would never be in a very satisfying position like the current one, if (un) fairness doctrine had been pursued by the Bush Administration.

So to the Dimwits, stop it!…. Just stop.

Most of them would be happier without radio too. When Trent Lott was in the Senate, he was quoted saying talk radio is a big problem.The only people who care in sufficient numbers are outside DC. Those conservatives interested in this issue might focus on forcing Katie Couric to sit next to Rush Limbaugh while sharing the news. ABC, NBC, MSNBC, Fox, NPR, all PBS news shows, all C-span hosts should have to share with Dr, Savage at least 1 day a week. This is the only approach to take about this issue and the correct one.

On so many fronts–and we can’t even rally to win on ONE! Everywhere I look I see the GOP abandon the field, retreat and roll-over.

Find a line, hold, counter-attack. Start with the easy targets within your ranks, those who work against, fail to fight. Better a focused minority than a listless amalgam. I’ll take concentrated focus over “big tent” every day of the week.
