Secret Vapor Conference on ObamaCare

Now that ObamaCare has passed the Senate, it is time for Democrat leaders to retire behind closed doors to craft another secret vapor deal.  The media, Republicans, and average Americans are banned from this meeting to determine the future of health care.  Democrat leaders will secretly craft an ObamaCare bill that they think can pass in both the House and Senate.  This is yet another example of the self proclaimed ”most transparent White House in history” being non-transparent and delivering the functional equivalent of a lump of coal into your Christmas stocking.  Merry Christmas America – you will get nothing and like it.

The Wall Street Journal reported today that Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid will go back behind closed doors to write a final ObamaCare bill:

Look for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to try to circumvent the traditional conference committee process by which the different versions of health care reform passed by each house will be reconciled. If so, it will be the latest example of violating principles of transparency and accountability in the single-minded pursuit of legislative victory.

The Senate has passed Obamacare, so what will now happen is that Reid, Pelosi and the Obama Administration will retire behind closed doors, to the Chamber of Secrets, to figure out if the House can pass the Senate version of the bill intact.  If not, then Pelosi and Reid will have to craft a compromise, in secret, that they will pass in the House.  That amended bill will have to come back to the Senate and be passed intact for the bill to go to President Obama’s desk.  The crafting of this final compromise will not be transparent, open to the public.

Neil Cavuto of Fox attempted to get a camera crew into Reid’s secret meeting before he rolled out the Senate version of ObamaCare.  He called it Door-gate and on the day Reid announced a Senate Deal on November 9th.  Expect more of this:

Door-gate, yes, day 32. Harry has got the bill. He knows the score, but Harry ain’t speaking, and not to us, not to Republicans, because no one is being allowed near the door. It is to the LBJ room. And this is the closest we can get to it. Our camera crew says it is forbidden to shoot it or get anywhere near it, even the hallway near that door.

Get ready for a non-transparent negotiation with the help of the Obama Administration.  Slate reported that the Obama campaign pledged to put important meetings on C-SPAN, yet these very important health care meetings are open to nobody but Washington elites.

During a presidential campaign, there’s no such thing as over-sharing. Barack Obama promised to run the most transparent White House in history—disclosing donations, shunning lobbyists, and broadcasting important meetings on C-SPAN. Transition captain John Podesta reiterated the point Tuesday when he said Obama’s would be “the most open and transparent transition in history.”

It is expected that the result of these closed door meetings will be more cash for votes.  As I wrote at the Big Government web site in a post titled “Earmarks Buy ObamaCare” - expect more earmarks to buy votes in the House.  More of this:

ObamaCare is inches from the goal line, but it can be tripped up by the Stupak pro-life language or if the House supporters of the public option pledge to vote against any bill without it.  It also can be stopped Members of Congress smarten up and listen to the chorus of constituents who intensely dislike the bill.  Merry Christmas to all — to bad Harry Reid became the Grinch that Stole Christmas.  As lobbyists in Washington for health care interests buy a 3rd beach house for Christmas and celebrate the progress of government mandated health insurance, the American people looked to a 2010 with a tightened belt and less money to pay rent.

Keep borking the SOBs. 202-224/225-3121. Write them at their offices. Join tea parties and demonstrate at their houses. They can’t run away from 55% of the nation.
Merry Christmas to all and God bless us everyone.

in MA I mean IF a Republican can be elected there in January and the House tweaks the bill at all they will need 60 votes in the Senate thanks to Jim Demint and well they will have LOST one and btw it will TERRIFY the D’s in the House if a long held D seat is WON by a Republican. I am BEGGING the people of MA to please do the RIGHT thing for the entire country and vote to STOP this leftists nightmare and bring the country back to the middle at the very least!

I am trying to get national attention to this race, the NRSC isn’t supporting Brown. I saw an item on Hot Air by Bill Kristol about the race, I emailed him with local links and asked him to look at Brown.

The MA League of Women Voters had to cancel a scheduled debate because Coakley wouldn’t agree to it on time. Coakley will only debate Brown with the independent candidate Joseph Kenendy.

Bill Kristol is reading the links I sent him, I belive Brown has a chance. We are all angry at the dems and MA is no exception.

We need this race to be a national one, it’s the first race of 2010. It would send a message to the dems if a republican took “the Kennedy seat”. Brown is not 100% conservative but he’s the best of the three candidates and he would vote against Obamacare.

If you can, please donate to him. He’s not supported by unions like Coakley is and the national party is ignoring thsi race which is a stupid mistake.

Brown has zero chance against Coakley. She’s been positioning herself for this run for years. This is the Kennedy seat. Be realistic. It’s not going Republican.

        • massreddog

He is an underdog, but I believe Brown is viable. He is getting my support. I hope others here would consider supporting him, as well. There may be an upset in the making in Massachusetts.

        • Carol Tarasewicz

Please don’t give it up yet. Coakley is a hack. Emily’s list etc supports her. MA has never voted a woman in as governor or senator, she hss that against her!

I know all the unions are supposed to support her, but the people in the unions do not. I talked to a few in the SEIU. I know most will sit out this race being in January, we working people will have to go in late or leave early but if Bill Kristol can help, that will help Scott Brown.

Yes union employees will be paid while they vote, etc. Don’t write us off yet, More are unenrollend than dems. 11% are republicans, 39% are dems, the rest are unenrolled.

People are not happy with Romney/Kennedy care, never mind Obamacare. If, yes it is a small word that means a lot, he can win indepenent votes he has a chance, Deval Patrick is one tops on the list of worst governors, next to or near Dukakis, We need Duke to endorse Martha,.

“I know all the unions are supposed to support her, but the people in the unions do not. I talked to a few in the SEIU.”

            ———

That’s because Coakley endorsed Clinton and voted for Clinton at the Convention because the people of Massachusetts voted for Clinton despite all efforts of the Kennedys the do-nothing gigolo John Kerry and the worthless governor.

Coakley comes from a a dead mill-town on the western part of the state and is a career prosector. She has the very strong support of the Boston/Memino blue collar Dems (as opposed to the Haaaavaaaahd dems).

The odds of her losing are zero, as much as it pains Kerry, the Kennedys, and the Boston Globe. Come on, it’s Massachusetts. We’d elect a ham sandwich, yella dog, or even John Forbes Kerry as long as they are Democrats.

buy off the necessary House votes and pass it in the Senate. No doubt about it. All this BS about pushing it to Februaury is just that, BS. Obowma will proclaim what a hero he is to America on SOTU and that’ll be it. Socialism entrenched in America. I’ve written off a long time friend due to his head-in-sand mentality. Poor guy would rather be red than dead.

Something has to be in doubt to justfify buying off all the little congress critters with “goodies” and to declare a “hard fought” win for an “unparalleled leader”.

With 60 votes in the Senate, the Dems have to manufacture the “in-doubt” part. The media plays along with the game. The Dems will pass this thing. They just have to do a stylized ritualistic mating dance while Reid and Pelosi keep handing out checks.

  • smagar

If so, then they own it, too.

Reid, Pelosi et.al are doing this because they don’t expect the MSM to press them on it. They expect to get just enough breathing room to get away with it.

to file a Federal Class Action lawsuit on behalf of the citizens/voters/taxpayers to have a ruling from the Supreme Court on fast track to determine the constutional of this illeagal beast. Taxation without representation any all the other illegal parts of the illegal healthcare bill, buying a product or service reqired by obama and reid yet no recourse. The super majkority required to denut the illegal bill. If reid andschummmer want to put that kind of language in a bill then it should have to have a super majority to paqss the whoards nightmare.. just because reid, schummmmer, dodd, murray and obama say it is legal does not make it legal. I ask this to happen because America is at a crossroads with this illegal action by reid and obama.

    • creditman

My guess is that the Dems will not try to defend this bill. They may go along with the cobbled Sh*t that Harry, Nancy and BO come up with. There will be a lot of legal challanges to anything making the american public buy anything. If it were that easy, we would all be in Chevrolets a long time ago.

I think if the Dems see the resistance that they will fold pretty quickly. Not just over the loss of seats in congress but the fact that their future will look pretty bleak. They are facing the new majority. It’s the babyboomers. When they find out that the government has put a value on their lives, and wheather it’s worth saving, there will be hell to pay.

    in the Obamacare bill?

  • Spartan4Life

That ought to tell you everything you need to know about how bad this bill really is.

I say, scrap it and start over with a new Congress in 2011.

  • jaydickb

and the Dems to do is to just have the House vote on the Senate bill. If it passes, it goes directly to Obama, no conference needed, even a phony one.

If she doesn’t do this, it’s because she can’t get the votes. If she can’t get the votes for the Senate bill, I’m not sure they can change the Senate bill enough to get House passage and still get Senate passage.

Maybe all hope is not lost.

We can’t give up hope. Even if Obama signs a bill, there are things that can be done when we get a Republican congress back, or even a less Democratic one. For example, appropriations will have to be made to fund the new programs.
