Solicitor General Elena Kagan will be making some house calls for one-on-one courtesy meetings with Senators. I can’t tell you how many times over the past two days I hear conservatives say “yeah, Kagan is bad, but if she is defeated or withdrawn, we will get somebody worse.” As many teams are finding out right now in the NBA and NHL playoffs, never look past | Read More »

By: Brian Darling (Diary) | May 11th at 05:00 AM |
Yesterday, President Obama rolled out Elena Kagan, the current Solicitor General and nominee to replace Justice John Paul Stevens on the Supreme Court. The left wing noise machine distributed talking points to fight the argument that Kagan’s lacked necessary judicial and legal experience for the Supreme Court. Nobody, right or left, really knows anything about Kagan’s judicial temperament or philosophy, because of her absence of a body of legal writings. | Read More »

No More U.S. Taxpayer Funded Bailouts….for Greece
By: Brian Darling (Diary) | May 6th at 03:20 PM |
Last year, the Senate voted to give $108 billion of your tax dollars to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF is now pledging to “loan” $39 billion as part of a $145 billion bailout package to Greece. This is all happening as the Senate debates and amends the S.3217 the “Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010,” in an effort to protect the economy from a repeat of | Read More »

Yesterday was yet another day in the Senate of gridlock on the ObamaBailout bill and today will probably be more of the same. A Senate committee will be holding hearings today on ways to chip away at the 2nd Amendment. Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) made a splash yesterday when he circulated legislation to expand the conditions for the government to strip U.S. Citizens of Citizenship. The | Read More »

ObamaBailout 2.0
By: Brian Darling (Diary) | April 28th at 04:00 PM |
The Senate has failed to invoke cloture on S.3217, Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010, by a 56-42 vote today (60 votes needed to shut off debate). This is the third failed cloture vote in 3 days and sources close to the negotiations tell me that opponents of permanent bailout authority for the federal government are “hanging on by a thread.” My employer, The | Read More »

Norquist on Value Added Tax (VAT)
By: Brian Darling (Diary) | April 23rd at 04:15 PM |
Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform has an excellent Op Ed, Don’t Give Obama a VAT, on the Value Added Tax (VAT), also known as Obama’s National Sales Tax, in Human Events today. Grover, like other pundits, believe that the actions of this Administration point to the fact that President Obama is seriously considering imposing a VAT on the already over taxed citizens of the | Read More »

Sen. Corker Joins Fight Against Earmarks
By: Brian Darling (Diary) | April 15th at 06:00 AM |
The coalition in the Senate to take a one year break from earmarking has gained the support of Senator Bob Corker (R-TN). The Hill reported yesterday that Senator Corker has withdrawn all of his earmark requests for this year. Other Senators should follow the leadership of Senator Corker and conservatives should applaud him for pulling out of the “fundamentally flawed” earmarking process.

There Will Not Be an Up or Down Vote on ObamaCare
By: Brian Darling (Diary) | March 16th at 05:33 PM |
The left is upset that the major news media is reporting that the “Slaughter Rule” may have some constitutional problems. Lefties are apoplectic that somebody would dare to argue that the House has to actually vote on the Senate passed ObamaCare bill before it is sent to the President and signed into law. Article 1, Section 7, states that “Every Bill which shall have passed the House of | Read More »
“Slaughter Rule” Strategy Unprecedented
By: Brian Darling (Diary) | March 16th at 01:30 PM |
Lefties (Daily Kos, TPMDC, and Huffington Post) are defending against allegations that the “Slaughter Rule” proposed strategy to pass ObamaCare without a vote is unprecedented and unconstitutional. The Slaughter Rule has the support of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and is the Democrats preferred strategy to pass ObamaCare. Liberals are peddling a talking point that self-executing rules like the Slaughter Rule have been done before and it was the Republicans that used | Read More »

On FOX News Sunday, Assistant to the Speaker of the House Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) followed his own advise contained in a memo leaked to Politico that advises silence on unconstitutional ObamaCare procedure. The Constitution clearly states that bills have to be voted upon in the House before being presented to the President. Leaders in the House are considering a complicated procedure to pass ObamaCare | Read More »
