Fairness Doctrine on Steroids is On the Way

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  February 11th at 11:55 PM  |

The evidence is mounting day by day that the left is getting ready to use the new power they have in the Obama Administration and Congress to reinstate something similar to The Fairness Doctrine.  Two Senators recently expressed an interest in providing government mandated “balance” to talk radio.  Liberal Democrats are preparing to use the full force of the federal government to attack conservative talk radio, especially leaders | Read More »

    Criminal Stimulus

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  February 3rd at 10:47 PM  |

The House passed stimulus bill has a provision that will provide stimulus to criminals.  No joke.  On page 52 of the House Stimulus Bill, “$3,000,000,000, to be available for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.”  The same provision is in the Senate bill, but for only $1.5 billion on page 42.   These monies are dispensed by the Bureau of Justice Assistance at the Department of | Read More »

The First Obamise – President Obama Broke a Campaign Promise on Ethics

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  January 30th at 11:30 PM  |

We are in President Barack Obama’s first full week as President of the United States and he has broken his first promise.  The broken Obama promise shall be termed the “Obamise.”  Hat tip to Politifact.com for the catch.  Barack Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act on Jan. 29, 2009, keeping a longstanding promise to counter a Supreme Court decision that limited workers’ ability to sue for pay discrimination. | Read More »

Another Obama Nominee with Tax Problems

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  January 30th at 07:40 PM  |

Obama’s nominee to be the next Secretary of Health and Human Services, former Senator Tom Daschle, has tax problems according to ABC News. The controversy deals with a car and driver lent to Daschle by a wealthy Democratic friend, a chauffeur service the former senator used for years without declaring it on his taxes.

Obama Nominee Argued that Abortion is Good and Adoption is Bad for Women

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  January 30th at 11:45 AM  |

On February 5th, the Senate Judiciary Commitee will have a hearing on President Obama’s nomination of David Ogden’s to be Deputy Attorney General, the number two position in the Justice Department.  In 1992, Ogden argued before the United States Supreme Court that abortion has healthy psychological effects and adoption has negative psychological effects.  Will the Senate Judiciary Committee rubber stamp another Obama nominee or will they | Read More »

The Huffington Post and Andrew Belonsky are Afraid to Debate Me – Bring It On

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  January 30th at 03:15 AM  |

Yesterday I recieved a Google Alert that some guy named Andrew Belonsky of The Huffinton Post, linked to my post, “Nationalizing Banks is a Socialist Idea that Only a European Economist would Endorse” and then attacked me as “not-so-darling conservative operative Brian Darling.” He claimed that nationalizing banks is not a socialist solution to our nations’ banking problems. Senate Judiciary Committee Approves Holder – Only Two Conservatives Said No

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  January 28th at 12:48 PM  |

The Senate Judiciary Committee hours ago voted 17-2 to approve the nomination of Eric Holder to be the next Attorney General.  A floor vote on his nomination is expected for next week.   The only two Conservative stalwarts voted no: John Cornyn (R-TX); and Tom Coburn (R-OK).  Eric Holder, former Deputy Attorney General for President Bill Clinton, has taken actions that disqualify him from Senate consent to be the next Attorney General of | Read More »

Senate Republicans Throw Another Conservative Under the Bus – Jim DeMint

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  January 27th at 12:57 PM  |

The Politico reported last week that “GOP Pressures Bunning to Quit” and named two “GOP sources” as authority for a story full of false accusations and rumors.  These sources implied that Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) had not made clear his intentions to run for another term and had not raised enough money to win the 2010 Kentucky Senate race.  In a story linked on Bluegrass | Read More »

Bartlett to Conservatives – Support Tax Increases and Embrace the Welfare State

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  January 26th at 10:57 AM  |

Democrat-Light has another cheerleader and his name is Bruce Bartlett.  Bartlett, former Reagan and Bush 41 Treasury official, writes in the Politico today in a piece titled “Conservatives Must to Adapt to the Welfare State” that: If conservatives refuse to participate in the debate over how revenues will be raised, then liberals will do it on their own, which will likely give us much higher tax rates and a | Read More »

Nationalizing Banks is a Socialist Idea that Only a European Economist would Endorse

By: Brian Darling (Diary)  |  January 25th at 12:54 PM  |

If President Bush’s actions to create the so called Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) was socialism-light, the potential of a wholesale federal takeover of the banking system is socialism plain and simple.  The New York Post is reporting that Banking Analysts see three possible options to deal with the banking situation:  Create a National Bank to take over the banking system; Create a government owned | Read More »

Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) to step down at the end of his term amid growing concerns that he can’t win reelection in 2010.”  Are you f–ing kidding me?  This story can’t be true.   The resurgence of Jim Bunning is one of the best things that has happened to the Republican Party over the past two years and | Read More »

Secretary of the Treasury Nominee Tim Geithner should be asked if he believes that private retirement accounts should replace Social Security taxes, because he didn’t pay any SS taxes when at the International Monetary Fund.  The Senate Finance Committee has moved the Geithner confirmation hearing from this Friday to next Wednesday, January 21 at 10 a.m. presumably to deal with this growing controversy. Election Theft in Minnesota?

The Wall Street Journal in an Op Ed published on Monday, Funny Business in Minnesota, made the case that funnyman Al Franken is stealing the disputed U.S. Senate election from Senator Norm Coleman in Minnesota.  After the first count of ballots, Senator Norm Coleman retained a 215 vote lead, but the margin of victory triggered a mandatory recount of the election.  After a recount, Franken emerged with a | Read More »
