Michelle Obama Promises Gay Marriage & Adoption When Barack is President

Why doesn’t Barack go and make these promises personally?

Mindful of the audience in front of her, [Michelle Obama] then touched up gay and lesbian issues. “In a world as it should be,” Obama said, “we repeal laws like DOMA (the Defense of Marriage Act) and ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.’” She also said an Obama Administration would “recognize” gay adoption rights. Both lines received loud applause. Another crowd pleasing line was about the Iraq war. “In a world as it should be,” Obama said, “we end this war responsibly.”

This is pretty dramatic stuff. Democrats love to rail against the Defense of Marriage Act (signed by that reactionary Bill Clinton), but it would probably have overwhelming support if anyone bothered to poll on it. It simply guarantees that no state will be required to recognize gay marriages sanctioned in other states. It does not prevent a state from recognizing such marriages, nor sanctioning its own. In effect, it requires an action of the state legislature to bring same sex marriage to a state, rather than a court.

If Barack plans to overturn DOMA, and to recognize gay adoption, why isn’t he more forthcoming about it? Why is Michelle Obama making promises at secluded fundraisers in liberal enclaves, far from the eyes of the mainstream press?

The Left is fond of saying that McCain is stealthily and secretly trying to extend President Bush’s policies for four more years. That wouldn’t be so laughable if Obama were more forthcoming about his own.

    Michelle is so helpful.

Or does every wackco group in the country send in scripts for her?
People who were/are supporters are beginning not to trust either one of them. They know something is not ringing true in what the charming couple is saying. I just think they lie through their teeth.

I personally have little problem with gay marriage and adoption but that is immaterial – I don’t like the idea of a candidate’s wife going off and doing fund raisers and policy change statements because the candidate doesn’t have the stones to do it himself. She should be questioned on those views.

You know darn well that Obama can’t get caught standing anywhere near a gay or even the color pink at this point given his massive shift to the right. Which is sad. A leader of character ought to have the courage of conviction to stick to his guns and stand with the folks you say you stand by.

Perhaps it’s good for the gay community that there isn’t a bus in the world that would accomodate them being thrown under.

I love that she continues using the “world as it should be” lines from Saul Alinsky. Just straight out of a playbook so old, and so thin, and so shopworn– thank you so much Mrs. Obama.

As reported on LA Weekly’s Queer Town blog by a “pool reporter”, before Michelle Obama pushed the homosexual agenda, she worked in a backhanded slap at Gov. Sarah Palin. Good thing the Obama campaign is keeping her under wraps, eh?

(This occured at a fundraiser the night Gov. Palin was accepting the nomination for Vice-President.)

    Some background and excerpts:

Michelle Obama, wife of Barack Obama, spoke at two fund raisers in front of heavily entertainment industry crowds on Wednesday night.

Dressed in a purple tank top with a purple floral skirt and black high heels, Obama first addressed a largely gay and lesbian audience at the home of Bryan Lourd, managing partner of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), and Bruce Bozzi, Lourd?s companion. The event was described by the Obama campaign as an ?LGBT Reception.?

Approximately 300 donors attended the fund raiser, which took place in the wealthy, Los Angeles neighborhood of Holmby Hills. Minimum contribution for a guest was $1,000 to get through the door. Supporters who raised $25,000 were given access to a VIP room, where Obama met with them and briefly spoke. All money went to the Obama Victory Fund.

Obama then moved on to politics, where she first brought up her husband?s vice-presidential choice. ?I think it was a really good pick?Senator Joe Biden,? she said, and later added, ?People say they have amazing chemistry, and it?s true.?

Obama continued with talk about Biden when she said, ?What you learn about Barack from his choice is that he?s not afraid of smart people.? The crowd softly chuckled.

Obama then spoke about the time she first went on a date with Barack and instantly saw his ?specialness.? She told the crowd, ?All I?ve been trying to say the past nine months is that Barack has a gift, and he?s willing to share it.?

Mindful of the audience in front of her, she then touched up gay and lesbian issues. ?In a world as it should be,? Obama said, ?we repeal laws like DOMA (the Defense of Marriage Act) and ?Don?t Ask, Don?t Tell.?? She also said an Obama Administration would ?recognize? gay adoption rights. Both lines received loud applause.

Does this mean someone should ask “The One” if homosexuals couples would get preferential adoption treatment of an black child over a black couple?

she would not be there. There would be no government or need for government if the world was as it should be.

Ever since she made her first stump speech she’s been fair game, despite The Obamessiah’s whinings to the contrary. If you’re campaigning for a candidate, it’s within bounds to have your own credentials questioned. Unlike the Palin children, Mrs. Obamessiah is actively engaged.

Somehow Barry fails to get the difference. No shocker there.

        … So Narcissistic.

The Democrats say that she is Superwoman.
