It’s Time to Donate to MoveOn.org

The Enemy of My Enemy is My Friend

I was in a debate a little while ago with a representative of MoveOn.org who got rather angry when I told him that his organization was going to wind up applying a lot more pressure on moderate Democrats than on Republicans over the next two years. He assured me that despite the defeat of dozens of swing-seat Republicans in the last two cycles, there were plenty of Republicans who would feel the heat and risk their political futures if they opposed the Obama agenda.

How quickly things change! It’s just a few weeks later, and MoveOn has apparently decided that the only elected officials with anything to fear from opposing Obama are Democrats in marginal seats. Here’s the message MoveOn is sending to my Senator (note that it’s a radio ad; I added the picture):

Similar ads are targeted at 9 other Democrats in moderate districts or states. They are Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (NH) and Evan Bayh (IN), and Representatives Gabrielle Giffords (AZ-8), Harry Mitchell (AZ-5), Jason Altmire (PA-4), Joe Donnelly (IN-2), Chris Carney (PA-10), Baron Hill (IN-9) and Mike McIntyre (NC-7). These ads serve as a reminder that there’s a price for defying the liberals in Washington, so Democrats better vote the MoveOn line, and not what their constituents may want.

The Campaign for America’s Future goes further. They accuse moderate Democrats of offering ‘treacherous opposition’ to the Obama agenda (via the Corner).

So much for ‘dissent is patriotic,’ huh? Now the mantra seems to be that the nail that sticks up gets hammered down.

That suits Republicans just fine. The holders of these districts determine who controls Congress; if MoveOn and the Campaign for America’s Future want to make their re-election runs a little harder, it makes it easier for Republicans to regain control.

..with my left-leaning sister yesterday. I pointed this story out to her, as it greatly amused me. It’s another great example of Democrats acting like, well, Democrats; stubborn as mules in their determination to hand power back to the GOP. She responded by sighing and saying, “This is why we can’t have nice things.”

Can the left ever make a coherent statement with out the phrase “Fair share?”

    • johnCV

that the slackers on gov’t handouts do thier ‘fair share’ of the work?

They want a ‘fair share’ of the money that I’ve earned. OK, now I expect a fair share of the hours they piss away waiting for ‘thier’ check. Start by cutting my lawn so I can enoy the few ‘leisure’ hours I get while support thier worthless a**es.

BTW, moveon will cease this attack as soon as they feel the seat is in jepordy and begin blaming the R’s for negative advertising ( who will stupidly apologize and begin saying nice things about these POS d’s).

      Man, I’m in a bad mood today….

For many, the cost to maintain freedom is not realized, until it is gone…

A million clich?s to use, but those loyal to tyranny, are the real losers…
That being said? It is the welfare seekers who will be the least free.

Their lives will decline to a life of ‘restraint and servitude’?
And like a self-less soldier, I want freedom and liberty for all…

It becomes painful to imagine Authoritarian leadership, of which time and circumstances will come to reveal that Obama and Lincoln worked from opposite sides…

    And that we did nothing?

to my strongly worded letter was very reassuring that he could not support the budget and the spending on efforts that were not directly going to help the current crisis. But that the spending proposals should be considered at a later date. He said he will stand firm on his position unless major changes are made.

Made me do back flips,he’s so squishy. I have written him a letter once a week since the first bail out and plan to keep doing it. Emails are just a little extra fun,I send the same one all week, every week. He’s very well liked in Indiana so his re-election is not really in jeopardy,Moveon may not be able to “persuade” him.
