ACORN Planned ‘Takeover’ of Oklahoma Government

And Liberals Complain About the Militant Imagery on the Right

I am told by liberal friends and colleagues that conservatives like me vastly overrate the significance of organizations such as ACORN. I wonder what those friends would say if a conservative entity was found to have prepared documents like this one:

A “Power Plan” document begins: “Oklahoma ACORN has been virtually non-existent since its glory days in Tulsa, over 20 years ago. 2007 is Year Zero.”

It continues with a five-year plan to obtain “power”:

“Therefore, the route to power is twofold: First, build powerful city organizations in Oklahoma City and Tulsa that can control these municipalities. Second, become an influential organization by shaping a handful of strategic legislative districts that, by themselves, can change who controls the state legislature.”

“(W)e will be seen as the force that is making Oklahoma a progressive state in the way that it was 100 years ago.”

“By using this power to win significant changes for working people, by the end of our 5 years, we will have legitimized the progressive takeover of the statehouse and head into 2012 with a real possibility of changing what Oklahomans look for and expect out of their Congressional delegation.”

We’ve seen that in states where it succeeds, ACORN is associated with criminal conspiracy, fraud, tax evasion, and other violations. The people of Oklahoma are fortunate ACORN did not succeed in its ‘Power Plan.’

Via the Water Cooler, which has much more information – including ACORN’s allegation that the trash they left behind after ditching their lease has been ‘stolen.’

murder victims bodies are found in storage units after the killer stops paying rent.

    Coincidence?

    • farstar99

They’ve placed representatives inside companies who see to it that only their left-wing college chums get notified of new job opportunities.

And have you heard of “Obama’s Gypsies?” They claim they’ve been paid to move to key states to manipulate polls, primaries and votes.

      • IJB

I mean, how many new conservative residents would it require to “take over” DE? Or VT? Or RI? Or ME? (The historical example would be AK, I guess…)

If conservatives were truly strategic, they’d put in place some plans, and the funding to facilitate it, to send some ‘surplus conservatives’ from other regions of the country to target states like these for ‘takeover’…

        • gator_hoo

It’s easy to move to a conservative state where people are generally friendy and have low taxes and relatively strong eonomies. Liberal states generally have rude people, obscene taxes and are generally less successful economically. Gee… tough choice

          • IJB

You move in with the idea of taking the place over over the medium term.

Believe me, once conservatives are running the show (and reverse all those stupid lefty policies), the lefties in those states will run back to NY, MA, IL and CA, but quick!

As the original poster pointed out, lefties are taking the time to implement their own takeovers in places like CO & MT, and have already done that in states like WA, OR and MI.

Doing worthwhile things takes time and effort – if conservatives aren’t willing to do that, they’ll look to a shrinking base of states to play from.

          • gator_hoo

            … and it’s not smaller.

That is why health care is such a major battle, because once we have it, we aren’t getting rid of it ever. It takes Dems a few years of control to start programs it takes decades to undo… that’s why your *plan* doesn’t work

          • IJB

I kind of wonder why you’re ilk even bothers, considering you’ve already declared the war won by the other side.

I guess we all should just goose-step into the ovens right now, huh?

it is VERY hard, almost impossible to dislodge a big government program once it has a constituency. Look at who it is that is really killing Obama care, not just conservatives, but the old people who do not want to lose any of their medicare.

That is actually pretty alarming. Because there is one thing in Obama care that is necessary, cutting medicare benefits. Not in the way he wants to do it, but it will have to be done eventually because we cannot pay for it.

As for your Idea of flooding a state with conservatives, that might work, but it would have to be a state that has only recently gone blue. The reason I say that is because states that have been run by liberals for a long time are economic basket cases and you cant get industry to move there.

          • mosander

for good Medicare. Like a con game they are pulling the rug out from under us. If Congress hadn’t raided the fund a few times this Ponzi scheme might not be bankrupt.

PS I hope you are noticing the paramilitary police and law enforcement with multinationals put in place.

          • http://impudent.blognation.us/blog kyle8

the fact remains that we cannot pay for it anymore.

So I guess my answer is, your generation voted for liberal goodies, The government said you could get them forever, and guess what? Maybe you should not have been so dumb as to believe the government.

          • Jack_Savage

And I really don’t care *why* it happens, just that it *does*. Of course, your scenario would be best case…

In reply to gator_hoo – you are right on the money. I grew up and lived much of my adult life in Oklahoma. At 64 I decided to take my mother and move closer to my only brother in California.

            What an eye opener!

The people here are not only rude..they are down right hostile! And the taxes? Only New Jersey (another “hostile” state I lived in for a couple of years when I was in my 30s) has a higher tax rate. And you have to have permits which involve fees (read..tax) to take your dog for a walk in the mountains where you have to watch out for mountain lions because they are “protected”.

If I am fortunate enough to outlive my mother I plan to move back to Oklahoma

Alaska was a Democrat state at Statehood in ’59, so much so that it was only admitted concurrently with then overwhelmingly Republican Hawaii. But it was a traditional New Deal, fairly socially conservative Democrat Party. The ’60s brought an onslaught of VISTA types as well as adventureous nomads and the State turned very sharply left. By ’74, the McGovernite wing of the Democrat Party was in charge of the Party and the Legislature. The McGovernite wing of the Party styled themselves the Ad Hoc Democratic Coalition and bolted the Party’s nominee in ’74, endorsing Republican Jay Hammond. Though Hammond was a Republican, his administration was overwhelmingly not just Democrat but very liberal, even radical Democrats. They held power through about ’81 when they lost the Legislature. Governor Sheffield was a return to the old-style Democrat kleptocracy that almost got him impeached but by then burgeoning private sector growth because of oil development had turned the State sharply rightward. The federal delegation had been all Republican since ’80 until Begich’s election in ’08. For almost two decades the Legislature has been Republican, even at times with a veto-proof majority (not that you could often get them to all vote together). These days though, the declining influence of the oil industry and the growth of tourism and service sectors has turned the State purple, though nominal Republicans remain nominally in control.

Interestingly, most of the foremost Democrat activists here, including several legislators and Gov. Knowles longtime COS came here as VISTA volunteers. If you are a part of the government of a Red state, you really don’t want those “volunteers” or a lot of that “employment” grant money because all you’re doing is setting up Democrat cells in your government.

        In apartments, most likely.

        http://www.billingsgazette.com/business/article_7e62de16-9a7d-11de-8136-001cc4c03286.html

And things are looking pretty good for apartment construction in general.

        http://www.nuwireinvestor.com/articles/modest-growth-in-new-home-construction-fueled-by-new-apartment-53692.aspx

Where I live, the city has has been very strict about apartment zoning…not much new apartment construction here in the last 12 years. When I survey the local Police blotter, about 75% of the criminal activity originates in the old apartment complexes. Most of it is drugs, DUI, domestic disputes, muggings or homicide, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the malevolence you speak of is creeping in, too.

It sure seems like a good opportunity coming from the housing crisis which the Left can exploit.

many states have they already managed to infiltrate ?

  • Joe_B

So Brain, what are we doing tonite?

The same thing we do every nite, Pinky. Attempt to take over Oklahoma!

  • fisk2521

When does this become an attempt to overthrow government? Surely there are many laws that have been violated by ACORN in Oklahoma and many other states.

Where are our politicians….. Republicans and Democrats alike … who took an oath to protect our Constitution???? Where the hell are they?

    • Tbone

“Where are our politicians?.. Republicans and Democrats alike ? who took an oath to protect our Constitution???? Where the hell are they?”

You really didn’t expect them not to lie when they took the Oath, now did you?

    • doubleace

In this case the Democrats are behind it.ACORN is Obama’s baby. That was all part of the plan. I think Obama is trying to take us the route of a South American dictatorship, with him as the dictator. What went wrong is that they underestimated the resolve of the silent majority. The silent majority is speaking out now, and if that don’t work, well I don’t want to know what will be the next course of action. I do believe that free Americans will not stand for this raid on Freedom or personal liberties. These are scary times in which we are living.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!?Ben Franklin

  • yrlyss

As a near-native Oklahoman, I think ACORN would have bitten off more than they could chew.

Oklahoma is the reddest of red states, the only state to carry every county for McCain and the highest percentage against Obama in the election.

Even our Democrats are mostly conservative.

    • Jay_Cee

I read that and don’t see a threatening organization; I see an organization detached from reality and living in some sort of fantasy land…

Year Zero was the Khmer rouge term for their takeover of Cambodia. It was when they began rounding up teachers, doctors, intellectuals, people wearing glasses…and executing them.

The idea behind Year Zero is that all culture and traditions within a society must be completely destroyed or discarded and a new revolutionary culture must replace it, starting from scratch. All history of a nation or people before Year Zero is largely irrelevant, as it will (as an ideal) be purged and replaced from the ground up.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Zero_%28political_notion%29

Not satisfied with aiding and abetting child prostitution, ACORN wants to reanimate the horrors of the late 20th Century, as well. These people are vile and beneath contempt — they cannot be driven from the public square too quickly for my liking.

  • Streiff

where have I heard that before? Was it here? Or here? Or here? Or here?

    • Leopard1996

Me being from the North, and with my stereotypes of folks from Oklahoma, Texas, etc. This who ACORN thing would have went over like a bullet riddled lead balloon.

  • sarge324

pure evil iam glad that we saw that.and mr. obama may have a hand in acorn i hope there is honesty in the investigation.

would be to try and “Take Over” Vermont, or New Hampshire and leave Oklahoma alone. Okies are generally armed and do not mind shooting a few liberals and “Revenoooooers”. It also might be a good idea to try and take over a State that thinks like you do and Okies do not. I am confident that such a “Take Over” would be short lived and result in an ACORN rout.

  • okie4justice

is equated with liberty. We need to be “on watch”, aware and informed to guard against those who plan to control and attempt to dismantle our Constituional rights and freedoms. It is when we take things for granted that makes us most vulnerable to these types.

As Patrick Henry has stated, “The battle, Sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.”

I believe we are battling to preserve our Constituional freedoms and religious liberties at this time.
