White House does an about-face on Bush hit job

If you recall, shortly after the inauguration the Obama team completely replaced whitehouse.gov and gave it the O treatment.  Many of us on the right excoriated them for bashing President Bush on various pages on the site.

Well, it seems they’ve had second thoughts.  In a very clever move, web site ProPublica.org turned on a change tracking system aimed at several key administration web sites, including whitehouse.gov.  Today they spotted a very interesting change had occurred - the text that formerly bashed President Bush’s treatment of Hurricane Katrina had been altered to eliminate the most insulting portions of text.  You can see the changes documented here.

Perhaps it’s a bit of sting from the bungled handling of the aftermath of the Kentucky ice storms, or maybe the Left finally caught a case of conscience.  Or maybe they’ve just forgotten.  But interestingly, they don’t seem to be too worried about Katrina any longer, considering they didn’t include a penny in the so-called “stimulus” bill to stimulate Louisiana.  Hopefully ProPublica will continue to monitor this.

Reality Check

… He doesnt want future Republican adminstrations doing the same thing to him. I dont like Obama, but I think he is a lot more coy and realistic than most of the Dems in Congress who act like they are going to in power for a generation. There is a respect that administartions are suppose to show each other. W led by example and perhaps Obama saw that first hand and realized he is part of the club now and doesn’t want future presidents sniping at him.

WOW!

I would have thought just the opposite. I figured they would scream even more about Bush to cover up their ineptitude.

Re: 1)Perhaps it’s a bit of sting from the bungled handling of the aftermath of the Kentucky ice storms - I doubt it, the Ministry of Propaganda barely reported on it compared to Katrina
2)or maybe the Left finally caught a case of conscience - ABSOLUTELY NOT!
3)Or maybe they’ve just forgotten. - More likely but you never let a good catastrophe go to waste or whatever Emanuel said.

I guess I have no better ideas.

I’m interested on how ProPublica was able to monitor the changes. It seems like it could be a useful tool.

AWESOME POST! Thanks!

wanting to avoid any further scrutiny.... because its an all Dem problem now...

any further criticism then has to examine the WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? questions (as far as the MSM can avoid them, but some will creep up) plus EVENTUALLY the fact that it is all local (LA) Democrats that tie-up and/or waste the funds STILL!!!! Jindal will have to FORCE Democrats into doing the right things and frankly some of that discussion of what is the right thing to do is that some of those areas should not be rebuilt… EVER… at least not with Family homes.

But, worse, Obama & Co. are still bashing Bush abroad

icbm Saturday, February 21st at 3:03PM EST (link)

Obama impliedly bashed Bush when he went on Arab (!!!) television to say that America needed to restore her reputation in the Middle East.

Biden bashed Bush in Germany when he was talking with the Russians.

And most lately, as noted by Powerline, John Kerry just bashed Bush in Beirut on the eve of talks with the Syrians.

I could take the Bush bashing better if the Obama administration were actually being competent instead of just indulging themselves and making the U.S. look weak to her enemies.
