Breaking News: Van Jones has resigned as “Green Czar”

MSNBC and FoxNews.com are reporting this tonight. Few details as yet. Story now up at Foxnews.com (h/t izoneguy)

Interesting time to be turning in one’s resignation – midnight Saturday night, on a holiday weekend. I guess this gives the MSM a chance to not report it again…

UPDATE #1
Ironically, the first info to trickle out seems to be from the Washington Post, who ignored the entire story for quite some time before finally posting a story yesterday.

“On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide,” he said.

“Lies and distortions?”  Please, Mr. Jones.  I suppose all those videos out there that clearly quote you are “lies and distortions”.  This guy is a piece of work.

UPDATE #2
And just like clockwork, the MSM weighs in and blames “GOP attacks” for Jones’ resignation.  Not a peep about his disgusting past.

UPDATE #3
Good update and overview of the entire story from Andrew Malcolm

  • NeoKong

I have been watching CNN for days and they have not mentioned him.

  • fotophun

    finally some good news
1 down and how many more to go???
beginning with them and then ending with the head honcho

  • JadedByPolitics

If they think for a minute that FOX news is not going to be running this story on Tuesday on every show day and night they are as NUTS as we know they are! It was FOX and their ultimate TRUTH TELLER Glenn Beck that broke this story and FORCED the oldstream media to carry it yesterday & today in the first place and it will be FOX who ensures it goes on beyond the holiday! FOX is the force of news now and the rest of them know it.

I really expected his resignation to be part of the Friday evening “news dump”, but alas I was wrong…. I am on the record as saying it would happen by the end of the weekend. I am surely happy that we have gotten rid of one of the racist, commie, cop-hating, radical P.O.S’s in the White House. We still have more to oust, but it is a holiday weekend, so let’s enjoy this one.

  • http://www.thediscerningconservative.com discerningconservative

Did he READ his resignation letter, or did he THINK it was a “truther” petition and just sign it?

and maybe others will join Glenn Beck & Michelle Malkin to crush the rest of the cockroaches…..

    Here is the next op…..

Mark Lloyd, newly appointed Chief Diversity Officer of the Federal Communications Commission,

FCC?s Chief Diversity Officer Wants Private Broadcasters to Pay a Sum Equal to Their Total Operating Costs to Fund Public Broadcasting

    http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/52435

Van Jones will still be a part of Obama….

  • cwilson

I really thought The Won would try to gut this one out. Jones is so despicable he’d have been asked to spend more time with his family eventually — but a few additional weeks of beating up Comrade Oexposing Obama’s lack of judgement would have been tres sweet.

  • http://www.redstate.com/tnjim TNJim

Leave it to the comPost to try and put one last positive light on Jones:

Jones, a towering figure in the environmental movement….

Hmmm, did I say last? Look for stories about what a great guy he really was and how trashy Republicans like Pence and others were to call for his resignation. Bet the WaPo leads the way. We’ll see plenty of Jones stories now from them I bet.

  • http://www.thediscerningconservative.com discerningconservative

The movement Will go on, which is WHY WE CANNOT LET OUR GAURD DOWN! We need to stay on top of these radical commie bastards and eliminate them one by one!!! It won’t be easy, but it is a fight we HAVE to win!! One down, plenty to go. Down with these Radical, racist, communist advisors in the White House.

  • Bobcat51

…….it was rule 12 that got ya matey!

Beck and Michelle must be smiling !

    Jarret next ?

Amazing when they get a taste of what they have dished out for the last 8 years they cry like babies.

  • bs

As I noted in my last update, the MSM is already on the job in defending this scumbag. They ignored the story initially, but they are gonna lay it on thick with the “Blame Glenn Beck” schtick.

And I’ll bet you a cup of coffee that we’ll be hearing about the racist overtones before the day is out tomorrow.

  • blooch

he’s a Twin Towering figure in the environmental movement.

  • Achance

Now we need to work this like that Sgt. York attack on the German trench; just take them out seriatim.

And if you don’t know who Sgt. York is, go do some reading or find the movie.

  • Husker

  • jccbin

Now if we can just clear out the rest of them….

  • http://www.scottbomb.com scottbomb

Yeah, high-level officials often resign over “lies and distortions”. Uh huh. Yep.

  • JadedByPolitics

I love that he is whining because the story goes on and on and NOW people will actually get the news. I love that the oldstream media is going to carry this story as a GOP hit on Obama because the word gets out in spite of their best efforts. Like I said upthread this story is going to go on through Tuesday! The NAACP will be calling us racists by the morning.

The problem for Obama is the oldstream media did not show how radical he was or he would never have beaten Hillary. They protected him and in his and his freakshow friends minds they think America voted for radicalism when the reality is when American’s find out how radical they are they are horrified and so as the drip, drip, drip of the backgrounds and statements of these freaks get out Americans DEMAND they are removed. 2010 my friends will be a blowout to stop these tools from exacting their insanity on America!

  • Cheryl

    what’s rule 12? LOL

  • HSMom

It is the typical hing for a liberal to do… blame someone else for your own stupidity!

We still have some more Czars to go! Let’s get ‘em!

so the fun may have just begun.

I would be real interested in this school he was suppose to have sponsored or created. I can’t find anything on it.

  • illinois

Thanks to Glenn, DefendGlenn and Fox—-we got him smoked out. But, the Repubs in congress need to demand an investigation into the Obama vetting-thwarting process that’s allowed him to bring in all these radical czars. Ridiculous.

  • Xasteius

  • illinois

    http://www.defendglenn.com/

They’re a bunch of losers: Rick Sanchez—drunk, liar, killed a pedestrian; Cooper Anderson—all around weasel; Larry King—-old troll and serial marriages; Brown BS Campbell—left wing looney tune; 1st gulf war with that slimeball Peter Arnett—-an entire setup whereby CNN was consorting w/ the enemy and rigging their reporting……..Baghdad Bob has more credibility then CNN and MSNBS and the other msm state run media

  • cwilson

Actually, various sources number the rules differently, but I believe Bobcat51 is referring to this one:

Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don?t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.

  • blooch

the whole “czar” process–or lack thereof–starting Tuesday morning. The really scary thing is that Van Jones is a camera-sucking showboat who basically had to moon America before she said “WTF??”. The rest of these Czars are probably low-key, button-down snakes who will slide on by. We cannot hope to be as lucky as this again. Exposing them individually is not enough. Their “special arrangement” needs to be destroyed immediately.

  • http://www.thediscerningconservative.com discerningconservative

for the jobs report for September. The amount of jobs “created or saved” will certainly decrease without our “green jobs” czar. Maybe Fidel Castro can replace him, they certainly had many similarities.

  • http://www.thediscerningconservative.com discerningconservative

But you have to actually have a spine to gut something out.

  • http://www.thediscerningconservative.com discerningconservative

If we continue to have the loudest voice, they cannot ignore us. Our problem has always been that we were silent. The only loud voices have been the crazy moonbats. If we are only loud now, and become complacent once we regain the majority, history will repeat itself. We need to make sure we stay active and MAKE SURE our voices are heard.

  • http://www.redstate.com/tnjim TNJim

except I think it may come during the Sunday morning shows.

  • izoneguy

    http://www.redstate.com/izoneguy/2009/09/06/one-down-and-many-more-to-go/

    Post your info here…..

Mark Lloyd wants to shut down Beck (Van Jones could not)
Hannity, Rush, Levin and the other freedom talkers…..

  • blooch

I can’t wait to see his video ramblings about the crakka conspiracy that forced him out. And you just *know* that his ego, his pathetic, paranoid worldview and his solidarity with his fellow-travelers have taken big hits. He surely will get fat and grow a beard.

  • Third Street

No, really. I WANTED this guy to stick around and be the obnoxious, crazed, racist face of the Obama Administration. I was actually holding out a sliver of hope that Obama’s incredible arrogance and the determination of the media to suppress all news of Jones’ very existence might have made that possible. Alas, it was not to be.

Now -11bama will appoint another “Green Czar” with objectives just as hateful, but without the, shall we say, colorful past. More’s the pity.

I saw an earlier headline that Rep. Pence wrote the White House requesting information on the vetting process

Jones, Obama’s green jobs “czar,” was caught on tape in an expletive-packed rant, directly attacking Republicans in the Senate who he said abused their majority position in the past to push legislation through. He told Politico after the statements were released that the comments were “inappropriate” and “offensive.”

Ahhh, he is stepping aside so as not to be a distraction from the Democrats in the Senate abusing their majority position in the present to push legislation through.

  • bk

since The One was unwilling to go to the mat for him?

I guess on this one you could say Obama stepped aside and let Jones throw himself under the bus.

If they included “under Obama’s bus” in next year’s census, I think it would merit two seats in Congress.

Do not lose sight of Van Jones, his associates and ‘community organizations’. This piece of Communist trash WILL resurface – guaranteed. He’s a danger to the internal peace of The USA, liberty and your freedom…….

So are Obama and his so-called underlings.

DO NOT LET UP PRESSURE ON THIS ADMINISTRATION AND ANYONE SUPPORTING THESE PEOPLE !

Next political targets of opportunity need to be Mark Lloyd (FCC) AND Cass Sunstein (Regulatory Czar) – they’re as dangerous (if not more so) than good ‘ol Mr. Jones.

    God Bless America.

While Van Jones gets no kudos for going angrily into the night, a Panetta resignation would receive my patriotic applause.

First off, that sounds like a great band name.

Second, it’s interesting how the minority party in this country still seems to wield so much power. Maybe they are just better at using fewer resources than Democrats?

Oh boy, we’re havin’ fun now !

    http://www.standwithvan.com

…..it’s almost like this scenario was planned to occur.

Stand With Van, eh? OK, I’ll say it……… Hey Comrade Van Supporters…… I know you’ll definitely stand with him to the obvious conclusion, even a (God forbid) SHTF scenario, so let’s cut to the chase………… Which of these walls would you like your back against ? Blindfold ? Cigarette ? Obama T-shirt ?

    Schmucks.

  • peg_c

when they’ve refused to cover the story. This pattern of non-coverage/coverage has become so pervasive it needs a name all its own.

In the Breitbart story Drudge is linking, there is a statement made by Rep. Mike Pence:

“His extremist views and coarse rhetoric have no place in this administration or the public debate.”

Actually Jones’ views have THE PERFECT place in this administration. I think what Pence meant or should have said was, “…in a presidential administration…” He can’t say that but we know the truth, don’t we? Jones is the perfect face for the true ideology of this administration. I guess they’ll have to work harder next time on hiding the truth.

  • lurker9876

will Van continue to advise Obama behind the scene?

Valerie Jarrett and Mark Lloyd should top the list for Glenn Beck to cover this week. I think Mark should be next because his ideas target the conservative radio and TV shows and especially since Van had to leave (doesn’t matter how he left).

    {QUOTE}
Never mind that the news release of this was in the lo-dark hours of a 3 day weekend originally designed by LABOR UNIONS, Never mind that it was not on a typical Friday news dump after 5:00.

What is MOST telling about the timing of this resignation release is that it won’t see front page ink in national papers. Imaging the Sunday Editionof WaPo or NYT: OBAMA CZAR THROWS SELF UNDER BUS. A headline that could live for forever. No, no ink whatsoever. Sunday papers were already printed and in the distribution network. None print EXTRAs anymore. Labor day papers are nothing but pre-printed fluff, just waiting for the overtime paid pressmen to run on Sunday night, and Tuesday papers won’t be much better.
This story is INTERNET and TeleProMpter (see: TOTUS) based only.

I guess I miss the metaphor. ;-) Maybe you need to explain it to me.

I was trying to come up with something along the lines of “Name that Party” only for this situation. “Name that story?” Doesn’t work for me, but this is a somewhat similar pattern of non-coverage/coverage. They all originate from the same “unbiased non-agenda” slant that colors all the state-run media output.

  • peg_c

    is priceless.

From the Marta Mossberg piece in the Washington Examiner:

“The group collectively lamented that the Right discovered Saul Alinsky’s ;’Rules for Radicals.’ ‘It’s kind of scary! They have learned all of the tricks,’ said Sue Esty, the assistant director of American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees Maryland.”

And probably really pis*ed off. Obama cut him loose only because he was so far out there people were hanging stuff on him and it stuck. They didn’t think you all and the right media would work so hard on such a little guy. They won’t make that mistake again.

But he’s not out of the circle of influence by any means. That is the great thing about “advisors” they aren’t vetted and they don’t really hurt you when you dump them, unlike VP’s or cabinet members.

This is a feint. “See look at us, we are as moderate as you! Honest!”

Of course it doesn’t explain the rest of the far left looney tunes running around the White House like characters out of a Three Stooges movie.

If Beck didn’t have a target on him yesterday, he does today.

    The audacity of them!

  • johnt

Brilliant ! And don’t think it was a pure solo by the racist nut Jones.
Maybe if the fools in the WH keep this up eventually it will hit them that tactically it’s suicide to pick fights with talk show hosts, advantaged as they are with their own platforms from which to counter attack.
The racist nut Jones might still be around otherwise had he not drawn attention to his twisted self. Not that he’s any different from the other nut cases and droollers in this so called administration.

  • WarEagle01

    just watch.

  • avgamerican

This only proves one thing. Glenn Beck is right. Feel very concerned folks, very concerned. To the moderates and independents out there and those who thought Obama was a moderate, the guy you voted for really has been keeping close company with your enemies and shares their views. Now get your head out of the sand and pay attention. These left wing nuts should never win another election. I say the person we need to declare war on next is George Soros and moveon.org.

  • WarEagle01

devoted to this story. And that is the last we will probably hear of it. That network is worthless. If it wasn’t for occasionally watching Dobbs, I would have already erased it from my TV’s memory (as I did years ago with A Mess NBC).

It’s a requisite piece of equipment for all those greenie guys, you know. We should investigate how the guy lives as we did with AlGore to see if he’s a huge consumer of electricity and gas. Betcha he doesn’t have a single solar panel on his digs–well, not unless the gov. paid for them.

  • Xasteius

If a person exhibits very strong beliefs, it usually spills out, unless they have a lot of self-control.

  • Achance

have a vast shadow government of non-profits, government contractors, unions, etc. where people like Jones move seamlessly in and out of government. He will continue to have influence over the Administration; really all he loses is the federal title that gives him somewhat more legitimacy and a budget that he doesn’t have to go out and beg for.

  • avgamerican

Mr president why do you have an FCC chairman who is promoting the socialist revolutionist Hugo Chavez in Valenzuela? I won’t wait for a teleprompter campaign speech for an answer. I never believed your explanation on Jeremiah Wright and no matter what you say on Jones, Lloyd, Ayers, and every other wing nut friend of yours, I wouldn’t believe it. You have no business being our president. The charade is over. Even the independents see you for what you really are.

  • johnt

Ye shall know a dirt bag by the company he keeps.
And our friends in the media are in there as well, having finally and totally revealed themselves.

  • mbecker908
  • avgamerican

    Well duh!

  • izoneguy

You are correct that is why Congress needs to look into the issue of Czars and where the money goes. ACORN needs to be shut-down – or at least the money the feds throw at need to be stopped.

George Soros may think twice if he had to fund the whole left wing with little to show for it.

  • janis

internet and citizen journalists this morning on “Meet the Depressed” was certainly priceless. They babbled on disapprovingly about how you can read most any thing on the internet and most of it’s not true.

Which compares nicely to how you can read the NYT and find nothing at all, or how you can read a story and find so little truth that it would fit in a thimble. These guys are really pissed that us little guys are not buying what they’re selling.

Yes, Mark Lloyd needs to be next. After this episode, on top of this past summer’s citizen revolts, talk radio and the ‘net will be next on the chopping block.

  • izoneguy

Brokaw and NBC don’t know how to cover the truth.

You can also watch NBC all day and not find out what the truth is.

  • ZootSuit

Why should anyone be surprised by this. Look at who Obama’s “advisors” have been all through the years.

Marxiists, revolutionaries, and black people so self-conscious about their success that they actually begin to hate America and the American values that make their success possible.

  • Achance

and we had the WH for eight years. During that time we never took a single step to stop feeding the hand that bites us; federal money just kept pouring out both directly to the non-profits, grantees, contractors, etc. and indirectly through state and local governments with little accountability in the Red states and none at all in the Blue states.

Republican officeholders financed what may prove to be the demise of free-market democrach in this Country. Give me a small team of auditors and I’ll put ANY Democrat front group out of business and put quite a few of them in jail. That said, no elected or appointed Republican would allow you to do it because they’d be afraid to be called partisan, mean-spirited, racists, etc.

  • janis

The ones who got the surprise were on the other side. They didn’t think we’d be capable of looking up the guy’s past, nor, apparently, did they think we’d find a single thing wrong with it.

Or that without any coverage whatsoever in the MSM, we could bring him down.

They won?t make that mistake again.

I bet we get at least three more instances of them believing that their buddies in the MSM can shield them by spiking stories. If they didn’t figure out after the Swift Vets that the MSM can no longer control what the public finds out, it’s going to be several years more before they do. Old habits die hard.
