I hear Dewhurst adds on an almost hourly basis. He is spending a huge amount of money. That has me worried.

Conservatives break strongly for Cruz, moderates break strongly for Dewhurst, and “liberals” break mildly for Cruz among likely Republican primary voters.

Despite no real advantage for Cruz among “liberals” in approval ratings vs Dewhurst.

Granted there are not many leftists who vote in the Republican primary.

You have to remember, many leftists will vote for Cruz simply because he is hispanic/latino/(whatever the PC term is these days).

I’ve block walked before. Well, it’s not exactly block walking in a rural county in Alabama, but you get the point.

And thanks for sharing your experience, especially that last story. LOL. You meet some pretty interesting folks when you work on a campaign.

If you’re not already involved in your local GOP, I encourage you to do that next. I wasn’t involved until a couple of years ago. I started out slow – volunteering at events and just lending a hand. Now I’m on the steering committee of my local GOP. It’s rewarding to actually have a voice other than just yelling at the TV from the couch.

I’m not in Texas, but I’ve given to the Cruz campaign and am praying for victory.

and seem to mutually benefit each other. I volunteered outside a polling location during the primary to recruit last minute voters for Donna. Several voters said they were coming to vote just for her. She has a strong following and good will in the district which seems a direct carryover from her 2010 race.

what counts is 7pm election day and who has the most votes. It seems the Dewhurst supporters are consistent in their down ticket choice. I know a few outlyers exist, but for the most part they like the liberal/moderate republican in every office.

Donna has her own voters that will come out and they will help Ted win. She has her own coattails that Wes and Ted can ride on.

Ted may help her in Bexar but Travis, Hays, Comal, and Guadalupe belong to DR DONNA CAMPBELL even Kendell is hers now that EAJ is out of the race,

David Dewhurst is being supported by people that want something from him.

People that have friends in high places and want to keep it that way.

I am not sure that they are even going to vote for him, I think some of his strongest supporters the ones making the biggest noise on Twitter and Facebook, the ones giving him the checks are not really going to vote for him.

They want him as the Lt Gov and they want to be able to say I did so much for you during your campaign for Senator will you please put me on this board or that committee.

His lobbist friends will say we gave you as much money as we could, we are sorry you did not win but we were there for you, so help us get this bill past or this person elected.

I think the polls are way off and Crews will win big, I don’t think it will be a close as I once did.

They were half-heartedly(if not quarter-heartedly) leaning Dewhurst simply because they didn't know much about Cruz, and were admittedly not sure who to vote for. My dad probably wouldn't have voted since he wasn't sure about either of them, he simply hasn't had the free time to research it in the past few months. My grandma gets all her info from the Fox News Channel, CNBC, and the Weekly Standard, so all her information was from a national news sources or from local political ads. It is hard to get much info from that. She doesn't read any online news sources like most Redstaters do. All I had to do was mention that he led the District of Columbia v. Heller arguments that led to the Supremes upholding the individual right to bear arms, and to mention his work on Medellin v. Texas defending US and Texas sovereignty against the ICJ. It took nothing else to completely convince them.

5 star diary … other’s might not get the Campbell / Wentworth Dewhurst / Cruz connection, but this is a downballot TeaParty Conservative vs Establishment Moderate race.

Here’s why Donna Campbell will win- Ted Cruz coattails!

Who votes in a runoff in July anyway? That’s crazy stuff only hardcore political junkies will do.
Who supports Dewhurst? Moderates and low information voters who got swayed by ads or dont know whats going on.

Cruz will get his voters to turn out better. IMHO, he wins by 8 to 10.

Complete speculation on my part, and I havent done/seen polling, but … That means Donna Campbell has the edge as Cruz voters will be Donna Campbell voters.
